2016 Leaf owner here (bought it used in 2019). The perfect car for city errands and for my high school aged kid! We don't care if it gets dinged, we know she can't suddenly road trip unannounced, and it costs nothing to charge on 110V. Love the quirky look, too. Had a friend call it a "dragonfly" based on the funky headlights -- this has become the car's nickname.

I have almost the same, having a Seat Mii electric, called the Garlic car, it is a white small car that has 160 miles in range during summer months but less during winter. Extremely cheap, easy to park, fast and easy to drive in town and in narrow streets.

In Quebec, gas and oil-based heating systems have been on the way out for decades now. The vast majority of homes run on 100% electricity. Convection heaters and baseboard heaters have a massive market share, and heat pumps are used in most higher end homes.
Also in Quebec, winters are soooo much colder than pretty much anywhere in America.
    Yep, it works.

Black Friday 2024 I got a 2022 Kona electric Limited with 31,000 miles in excellent condition for $17,000 after the $4,000 credit. New MSRP was a whopping $42,500!
I also have an ICE Optima, but I couldn't pass up the deal.
My car insurance only went up $86 a month.
I Level 1 charge at home and fast charge at a Blink station for .20/kwh.

I snagged a 21 ID.4 AWD Pro S with 13k miles back in may that was CPO. Dealer had it listed at 28k , got them to drop to 24,500 and applied the tax credit on the price. It can be done if you search the country and find a comparable sale

One minor correction on the Bolt, 2019 and older battery packs was 60 kw (that pack had the fire concerns). 2020 and newer started using the 66 kw pack, which is the new pack for the older models also.

You guys need to do some research about range and battery size before presenting. Ioniq has 28kwh or 38kwh battery...
depends on the year. MX30 only has 100mile range not the 130mi you state. Mini is rated at 114mi range. Plenty of NIRO EV's under 25k. Some decent low mileage ones in the teens.
ID4 has quite a number of complaints about reliability....( check all the comments on car complaints)....hard to understand why you recommend it as reliable.

I'm surprised you guys brushed over the Kia Niro EV. In New England, they are easy to find under $25k. That was my plan. It's such a practical choice. The only problem... the styling is so boring. I just couldn't get excited to get one.

I don't want to ever do over 400 miles in a day, serious fatigue. Bolt will work just fine. Also, pick up a gen. 2 Volt! It's an electric car with a range extender. 50+ miles all electric and then 200+ miles electric with the range extender.

I'm in Los Angeles and it's not hard to find a dealership that does the tax credit up front, except they're all basically jacking their prices by 4K. Personally I've been looking at the Hyundai Kona and those show up at used dealerships around $18K - $20K, but always including the tax credit. On the other hand, I've been looking into a CPO Hyundai since they offer a brand new warranty on the battery for those, and the ones I've seen so far are the same price as at other dealerships (around $18K, sometimes even lower!) except they don't seem to be doing the tax credit. What a headache!

Kona ioniq and niro have issues with the motor / gear reduction unit. Good thing is this should be covered by the battery warranty which transfers to 2nd owners for 10 years 100k miles in the usa. Also niros are easy to find under 25k now.

Agree with you on the Ioniq Electric. I have had one for four years and think it's a great car. Super efficient. I really have no complaints about it other than the short range. Also, the earlier 28kwh battery model actually charged faster than the Bolt. Peaked at around 65kw. Given the efficiency and small battery, actually not bad at charging.

you kinda already did it in this video but you might want to double down on another video for used electric cars between $25k and $35k for customers who can't get the used EV tax credit and would feel basically insane for picking anything other than a brand new base model Y at $35k after new EV tax credit.

Most 2020-2021 Bolts are now excluded from a battery swap if a new software update determines that the battery is “OK”
Buyers will encounter these as having the original battery and probably the software update which limits charging to 80% for 6200 mi and pending no problems… 100% is restored.
The software update constitutes the recall work being completed.

WE just bought a used EV from a local Ford dealer. The dealer had us sign over the EV credit to them & then he chopped the credit amount from the purchase price. My question is do I need to do anything with the IRS come tax time or am I done? @clhsocial 5 місяців тому

Yes, if it’s a first resale and the dealer has registered with the IRS ECO portal. Before the sale closes, the dealer can file a proposed sale report on the portal and has to certify under penalty of perjury that the vehicle is eligible, plus the buyer has to certify under penalty of perjury that the buyer is a qualified buyer. The buyer has to provide his/her SSN and adjusted gross income from the buyer’s previous year’s income tax return. On the spot, the portal will either find the transaction eligible or ineligible. The seller has to give the buyer a copy of the report at the time of sale.

Example: Used Chevy Bolt is advertised
    at dealership for 10,000:
but after the sales tax and
    other fee's from the dealer
the cost is more like 11, 500 out the door:
but I also I also wish to purchase an extended warranty
adding another 1500.00 to the total price
    bringing the final price to
13,0000, (if I also add the extended warranty)
    _________________________________________________
Can I say on the IRS EV used car credit program,
that the cost of the car was
13,000? or do I have to use only the
