For me: Aesthetics and size of a full size SUVs of old without the crossover look. Trucks can skirt certain laws. I got a ticket for improper tint on an Accord that was dealer installed (even had decals stating it as in compliance). Roads in MS are atrocious, and will destroy the suspension on a sedan. While I don’t tow anything, I do transport large items from time to time. It would be nice not to rent U-Hauls or a truck from Enterprise. The rental option is cheaper, but too much of a hassle dealing with these companies. I’ll probably end up with another Tahoe.

Pick ups are extremely versatile….and they used to be cheaper than sedans. I have a mid- size pick up because I can only afford one vehicle, it can pull my trailer, and I carry camping and other supplies often. I live rural, and pick ups are good for my area where gravel and dirt roads are the norm. They once were work vehicles that weren’t made for luxury or comfort, but were basic vehicles….without a lot of tech, bells, and whistles. Now the manufacturers are trying to sell them as luxury vehicles, with prices to match…and dealer lots are filling up with unsold trucks because the prices are ridiculous. Manufacturers are also targeting women with the idea that “ real women drive trucks.” They need to go back to the basics.

You failed to mention, that the tax laws governing car manufacture strongly favor "light trucks" - as if there's anything light about the modern pavement queens that do not fit in your garage anymore. Italy here eggs are kept on a shelf in the supermarket not in the fridge but once at home we put them in the fridge, our hens are vaccinated against salmonella, we also eat carbonara that is made with raw eggs, we never get salmonella. As children our grandmothers used to beat raw egg yolks and sugar to boost us with energy, never got salmonella.

Most of them don’t own land because you don’t actually need land, it’s just something you want. They don’t need trucks because they are not necessary. Most work vehicles are actually small vans because they make more financial sense to own and operate. These massive trucks that suck down fuel and cost as much as a house is one of the biggest financial mistakes Americans make, then blame their own government for fuel prices they can’t afford for a vehicle they shouldn’t have bought in the first place.
