@Mojo Jim The world and the universe missed out on a video series where you and Nick travel all around France & Italy eating all manner of scrumptious food. From delicate pretty patisserie items to Tagliatelle al Tartufo ! 😋
@@libby9433 What a wonderful voyage of discovery that would be. You'd have to set the itinerary for us. I, of course, would specialize in patisserie offering evaluation.
When they have ***, the Chefs are always afraid to lose a *, some even committed suicide as Loiseau. Michelin's 🌟 restaurants, that's the red Michelin-Guide, there are also green ones, touristic guides. I can't spend holidays somewhere without reading the green guide before and read it to my kids, they " adore" it ! 😂 And there's also the maps, very useful before GPS ! I still have some in my car, one of my erea 1cm = 1,5 km, useful when the GPS doesn't know the detour (Umleitung), one 1cm =4 km.
Thank you for supporting my laziness! I "always" wondered (it was a fleeting thought here and there, but yeah...) if there was a connection between the two, but never researched it and now I don't have to! 😄😅
Michelin star food doesn’t have to be stupidly expensive either. Michelin rated food can be found in a bustling Singapore hawkers market (with an award winning simple bbq roast chicken & rice dish at $3 sold from a stall), in the casual HK dim sum cafe chain (Tim Ho Wan) or in the global Taiwanese dumpling restaurant chain (Din Tai Fung, famous for their many delicious varieties of soup dumplings aka xiao long bao). 😋🥟🥨🦪🍛🍱
@@nalfsense Actually there are branches of Tim Ho Wan & Din Tai Fung in the US. Only Din Tin Fung is in the PNW though, with a few restaurants in Seattle and one in Portland. Their dumplings are pretty good and it’s fun watching the chefs making them all by hand which customers can observe through the big windows inside and outside the restaurants. Much more expensive than in Asia of course and probably better ones to be had in local one-off mom & pop places.
It not only encouraged people to get a car but also to be more wasteful. You are literally told to take detours for supposedly better food. Of course those people will need new tyres sooner...
Michelin has taken a good look, by handing out stars every year, they get a lot of free publicity. In the Netherlands, more and more restaurants are chasing the coveted Michellin star. And I must say that the quality of the food served is also high, as is the price!
I don't know, but somehow I feel a epicurean craving for a quail kneecap fillet. I would choose potatoes as a side dish, potatoes boiled in Brabant oil 🍗🍟
Once again a very good piece of useful knowledge transfer! Not a single element of nonsense detectable. Couldn't you simply rename your channel into "Miscellaneous trivia" or something like that?
@@mojojim6458 - I looked it up again to find out that I used the 2020 number. That's by a number (not factor) 10 wrong - in 2021 there were 10 ***, 41 ** and 259 * restaurants in Germany.
Good work, I assume this video was inspired by reading Anthony Bourdain’s books & watching the documentary on his life and his many travel & food tv shows. 😉👍
Also witness the Anthony Bourdain effect in Singapore where the Hainanese Chicken Rice stall he was filmed eating at and appreciating, always had long queues. His photo is in front of the store and it seems many people from all over the world are keen to follow his food review recommendations. Fantastic little stall with yummy food and it’s popularity is well deserved.
There should be Michelin Stars for online creators, so we all know who's worth the time and who to avoid OH WAIT that was the dislike button. Hm. Good job UA-cam. 😉
Great yummy nonsense! Btw: I heard that many French divide things into two parts, those you can eat and those you can't. Of course that is a cliché but there is a grain of truth in it. There is no "all you can eat" because quality ranks before quantity. In Germany it is often the other way round. ;((

Some ignorants would conclude that French are not reasonable, to express it that way.

This is my new favorite channel! Love it!
I just binge watched a whole UA-cam channel in less than 30 minutes. Must be a first for me.

Thanks, Trevor!
That scary tire mascot is older than I thot! Thanks for the insider knowledge Nick, fun channel
Thanks Nalf. I like this format.
It's kind of cool that we have 2 Michelin star restaurants within 15 km from my house in the Pfalz. It's worth the trip if you are interested in that.

@@mojojim6458 I actually enjoyed this video. Longer and more insightful than a short but not a 20 minute documentary either
Thanks. I was curious as to why a prestigious award was associated with a tire.
Good history lesson, and not even tiresome!
Actually, the "Guide Michelin" only lists restaurants, where you run less of a risk of getting poisoned.
This not non-sense, this is history! And very quickly and impressively told. Cudos.

Fun fact: There are 640 Michelin star awarded restaurants in France, only 320 in Germany and some 190 in the USA...
And that number for Germany is a misprint..by a factor of 10.
Michelin stars are overrated. Eat where you like it. If you prefer a currywurst with fries to a cockatoo eye ragout - so what "💩 on it"
