As a bar owner do you get freebies from the bar girls?

Sounds like Thailand is a place I’ll avoid. Is there any place on earth where people are halfway honest with each other? Seriously. What the heck is a lady bar anyway?

And then a point I usually like to make about guys sending money regularly from abroad: that really shouldn't be considered a ludicrously stupid thing to do. (you present it neutral, but the following is worth saying) : A lot of guys make plenty money and spend it on all kinds of meaningless bullcrap at home. You could easily blow the equivalent of 10,000 Baht on some pretentious restaurant in just one night, or on home furniture the Mrs wants for some reason, and all you've done is contributed to the payments for the business owner's Porsche; it made zero difference in your life. But that same 10K can make quite the bit of difference for a girl in a bar in Chiang Mai, especially in low season months. It does NOT mean you expect her to be your girlfriend, it does NOT mean you expect her to wear a virtual chastity belt, it just means: 'hey I get you, I like you and this money means more to you than it does to me'. Heck just think of all the money people waste on corrupt charity/aid organizations like Oxfam or Plan International, just so the management can drive fatter cars. Well here is some money that goes straight to a girl who can use it for her daughter's education, her parents, or even just a nice iPhone for herself. Still better than wasting it on Doctors for Hamas.

As usual I have a slightly different take, while of course agreeing with all these examples. But here it goes: if these completely minor detours around the truth matter at all to you, then you're doing it wrong. You really should not be in a bar to find a partner for life; you're there to have a good time for an hour, maybe an evening. At best you end up good friends with someone with the understanding that she knows you're already in a relationship somewhere, and you know how she makes her money and the more she makes from guys the better.

Those bars that have stayed the distance the owners had expendable cash & lived in Chiangmai a long time. eg. Nick ex Mad dog; Sandy UN Irish Pub; Ron who owned ChiangMai Saloon. The beer bars never last….. esp in a noisy centre all competing…..

Most of this is true everywhere with almost all whamen, it just is what it is, unfortunately it isn't all women causing it, they do it an go along with it, but a lot, an i mean a lot of men made it & make that kind of behavior possible, these men do it, some not knowing but many knowing exactly how all of this stuff is. But that is a big reason why women are the way they are, if it wasn't for men going along with it, women could still kind of be that way, think that way, be delusional etc. But it wouldn't get them far at all. 8:44 That's correct. Chiang Mai (and other cities) are not the same as Pattaya. Many of the girls, particularly the younger, prettier ones (usually from the mountain villages) and are not interested in bar fines, they are merely there for lady drinks. Although there are girls in Pattaya who are also only interested in lady drinks, the percentage of them doing so is much smaller than Chiang Mai. If you're a monger, go to Pattaya, it's practically impossible not to bar fine a different pretty lady every night there. *If you're young, you will have a better chance of bar fining a lady, particularly if you're genuinely handsome. You might even get it for free believe it or not. *If you do spend hours buying a lady drinks and she doesn't leave with you, don't go back. If she doesn't go with you on the first night she's clearly not interested in you so don't waste any more time and money on her. *Never ring the bell. They don't respect you for it, in fact they view you as being a soft touch for doing this and you throwing money at them makes them even less likely to let you bar fine them. "Why bar fine if this guy give me money for nothing"?

The myriad of lies is all part of the fun I guess. "Thai man no good" 🤣 When you first visit Thailand you will most likely fall for some of these lies partly because as westerners we're not used to such blatant lies. When someone tells us something, whether it be a man or woman, we usually have no reason to doubt what they say, so we tend believe it in good faith. You have to treat everything a bar girl and to a certain non-bar girls with a large pinch of salt. Most farang pick this up pretty quickly but unfortunately you will get some guys that visit Thailand multiple times and still don't learn. *Also, the nothing as sad as an bald, old aged fat guy believing in the "handsome man" trope. Worse still is a guy trying to pull girls half his age back in his home country because he's spent the last month being told he's handsome. Not a good look. Thankfully most have enough sense not to do this.

If you are there on vacation and want to date a bar girl thats fine, be straight up with her and tell her you want her to be your holiday girlfriend and negotiate a price. Understand that you will also pay all her expenses while there. Then leave the area you picked her up at. Go on a trip to another area and enjoy your time with her. Once your time in Thailand or any other country is up, go back to where you met her and say your goodbyes and leave. Never think she is really in love with you, it is just a building transaction. I am one of the guys who fell for a bar girl in Nov24. I spent 7 days with her in Patts and BKK, had an amazing time, the financial damage was super managable and since I came back home we are constantly writing on Whatsapp, have video calls almost daily and she doesn't ask me for money. Up until know everything is super chill and nice, no love bombing from her side, commnication is very consistent, she does the things she announces etc.. Of course she is busy at certain times, but for some reason I don't mind her doing her bar girl thing. And I really have feelings for her. Of course this will lead nowhere, but I feel like there is some genuine connection here and I don't see how she is manipulating me or anything. Most of the girls working in the bars in Chiang mai at the boxing stadium where your bar is aren't beautiful. Maybe 10 % are. Many are fat and pushing 40 or more. Even the young ones aren't beautiful, just average in most cases.

Hi Nolan. Thanks for creating this video and some good information and opinion. Couple of points. There is no contract between the girl and the bar. They talk about 10 day contract etc, but there is no physical agreement or contract that is signed. If a girl wants to walk away she can do that, although she would loose money. No Thai lady has an excuse of no iD. It is very easy to get an iD card even if you are not in your own province. Just walk into the local Ampur office. Any girl telling you this is probably not Thai or has other things she’s not being honest with you about. But, to work on jobs like 7/Eleven and hotels they will need a certain level of education which needs documentation. That’s the number one reason they don’t work on those sort of jobs. Nobody has to work in a bar Thanks again.

My experience livingin thailan (i only date other farangs) is a lot of men arrive inexperienced with women and get wrapped around the finger of a succubus. The ones who fuck the odd bar girl and don't fall for the trap have experience and can get western women but prefer the time 100% guarantee for 2-5k

What does dating really mean? It means fxxking without commitment. It doesn't mean you're going to get married. Going with bargirls isn't dating. It's just an easy way of having sex without commitment, albeit for payment. That's all it is.

I considered buying a bar...just a regular bar without ladies, in Manila's Malate district. It had been (and still is) going strong some 20 years later. I wasn't motivated enough to invest money in what might just not work out--though the appeal was very strong to do it. Owning a bar is like owning a sailboat--which I've also done--happiest days are the day you buy and the day you sell it. Probably with a bar, too. Cheers!

Hey, a quick question about the bars and the girls there. I travel to Chiang Mai and or Bangkok about once a year...sometimes twice. So how much of a regular allowance do you have to give these girls to make it worthwhile for them to quit their bar job? I'm assuming that no girl grows up dreaming of working in a bar, and they would rather be home with their kids, with a sugar daddy supporting them.

Most of the Thai women you see with foreigners are low-hanging fruit, because they present the most obvious opportunities because they are readily achievable and do not require a lot of effort.
