What Happens When Uber Doesn’t Have to Pay Drivers?
What happens when Uber doesn’t have to rely on coaxing drivers onto the road to drive their passengers? This is a $25 billion a year question because that is how much we paid our Uber drivers in the US in 2023.
This question is interesting today because driverless rideshare-specifically using Google's Waymo-is here. It’s happening and really starting to scale.

Переглядів 179 тис.3 місяці тому
150,000 flights and $1 billion later Southwest continues to lose a lot of money trying to capture the Hawaiian market. Dominated by Hawaiian Airlines for decades Southwest's heated competition has pushed both companies into undesirable financials standings with Hawaiian having to seek a merger with Alaska Airlines to stay competitive. Can Southwest keep running this competition? Did it make sen...

Why Countries Are Pouring Billions into Liquefied Natural Gas
You know mcdonalds owns chipotle
Crazy YT recommendation, we talked abt the chicken tax in AP macro economics today
So the tarriff worked? it protected and created American jobs. I wonder what the economic trade off has been between more jobs building trucks made in America vs paying higher prices for trucks and having a lower selection of trucks? Also I guess we should consider what the outcome would have been had Americans been allowed to export chicken to Europe? Would America have been better off selling chicken to Europe at the cost of being able to import foreign made trucks? And was the chicken tax a success in Europe? Was there a net benefit to Europeans paying more for chicken but having a stronger chicken indutry?
@@robertturley2974 all good questions. There are always tradeoffs with tariffs and without tariffs Though some tariffs are critical. There’s a very clear case of Haiti permanently damaging its economy because they removed a tariff 35% on rice. Cheap rice flooded in and Haiti’s rural areas were gutted
Thanks for killing the planet with your massively oversized trucks America, great work!
"Move manufacturing to North America" key word "North America" Mexico is North America. and because of NAFTA which was signed by Bill Clinton, we don't tax Mexicos goods which are now F150s 😂
Get the bag unc
love your content bro! keep it up!
double cheeseburger? 2 mcdoubles for $4
I know this is primary but is the regulations on fuel efficiency not also overly advantaging large vehicles over small?
Would like you to look at why some tariffs work and others don't, and often cause runaway inflation. Perhaps it's like sanctions in that targeted, purpose-built ones can make a difference while sweeping ones tend to only impact the lower/middle classes as wealthy people can either eat the cost or find other ways to fill their needs/wants.
Tariffs on some goods are very important. Economists always love to decry Trump of his tariffs but fail to see how much jobs and revenue it bring to the US
It worked in this case. Timing is everything.
I support taxes on Europe since the overwhelming majority of their products are overpriced junc. However, tarrifs on Meixco and Asian countries are a bad, inflationary idea.
Some of the best content on shorts. Are you active on other platforms as well or just yt?
@@winnepooh9631 thanks! All the social platforms, links are in the channel description
Need a full video on tarrif!
When you get rid of middle class jobs you get rid of middle class consumers. Jobs being replaced by technology will lose their audience due to a scarcity of employment
So Trump is right yet again
Consider putting your face in all of your opening shots, so your subscribers know it’s a reel (oops, I mean short,) from you. Ok, unsolicited advice over. 🙂
@@NoNameNumberTwo is it not in this opening shot?
@@Maxinomics Not for me. It was the grey truck from 13 seconds in with “the chicken tax” below it.
@@NoNameNumberTwo oh that's the video cover, like a thumbnail. i see what you're saying now
this could actually be huge for linux users in the us, as it means we could copy cat the software they make to replace necessary windows software
Amazing content as always bro, keep it up you are gonna boom
Bruv these plants are moved to Mexico doesn’t help Americans at all because we have free trade with mexico😂😂 tariffs will make everything more expensive because parts come from every else this a horrible clown take
Come on, they are not all moved to Mexico. Each of the plants I marked are fully operational, critical to those companies And the trade agreement with Mexico requires 75% of a vehicles components to be made in North America. The automotive supply chain winds all through Mexico US and Canada
It’s also the reason small utility trucks keep getting larger.
Max, love your videos. Your beautiful voice and hai- I mean, your ability to tell an informative story in a well produced way is great. Keep it up.
lol, you got it
Max. Can you do a hole video on tariffs? How they work. What ate some common ones. And how countries respond to them. Thanks again for incredible info and videos!
Of course, glad you like them. I am considering doing a full video on tariffs, they’re a powerful force
@@Maxinomics Yeah, that'd be awesome! Especially since Trump has stated he'll be utilizing tariffs again. It'd be nice to understand how they work and the positive/negative effects it has on the economy. Thank you 😉
@@kidsmooth6549The main effect pf tariffs is higher prices and more jobs in the US its like a really exspensive jobs program
Can you do a video on cloud computing
That's why trump like tariffs. They gave Americans jobs
They also create trade balance
@@sadface7457 why tf does “trade balance” matter? Aren’t y’all the ones crying that prices are too high? Tariffs make the problem worse: yes, both in the short term AND long term. If it was competitive to build cars in US without tariffs, they would have just done it. They don’t do it because it’s not.
Trade balance is an economic myth. If you import from a country more than you export to that country, you are not worse off because you have a "trade deficit" because economics is not a zero-sum game.
I can prove without a doubt that tariffs make a country worse off. The higher the tariffs, the more expensive that specifically impacts the price of a good making everything more expensive for everyone. Sure you may protect a few hundred jobs but then everyone else is subsidizing those jobs. It's just a tax on the American people and NOT on the exporting country
Great analysis as always! I am not familiar with the chicken tax and the resulting truck tariffs. Interesting to learn about.
For those curious… the standard US tariff for regular passenger vehicles is 2.5%
Yes. Tariffs to protect our industries is good. Things will be more expensive in the short run though and of course if there is no local industry then it is just more tax.
Agree it will be bad for some time. But instead of ramming up tariff to 25%, maybe go gradually. Giving time for local industry to ramp up.
Spacex gained the real estate first by simple virtue of being better than the other aerospace and satellite companies
As someone who worked at a chipotle for less than a month, I seriously wonder how people work there. I was always told to stay later than scheduled, and I would get overheated every shift (the strong smell back there didn't help me trying not to throw up). Anyone who has worked there, how did you deal with these problems / did you have them?
Elon owns us all bruh 😂
I like both, but the deals and rewards in the McDonalds app are superior. McDonalds didnt get more expensive, they've just made it so you have to use their rewards program to get great value.
Based on personal experience and what people are apperently been saying this is a clown short. Frontier and spirit is bottom of the bin airlines that bearly pay there workers compared to southwest
Love how you made a comparison with SPIRIT AND FRONTIER which are the cheapest and worst to go with
well drivers are independent contractors it is considered a business technically and I think it will force drivers to buy self driving cars if Uber allows it they’ll make money On auto pilot as well so maybe it will just change the whole industry for the better and not for worse
if people developed Linux
Linux users would tell them to switch to Linux
When Hawaiian was the only airline here what do they do? Don’t be fooled. They’re all in business to make money, and The aloha spirit goes right out the window!
It was good when it was a small and upcoming company. What made them great has largely disappeared. Their people are still great.
Halaska airlines
Never thought about this..thx
In many countries, it was the state that forced the use of Windows. Industry and science do not need it.
This can't be good.
or just use linux or bsd 😐
i have self respect. im perfectly fine going the rest of my life without stepping into a costco.
This is legit illegal
This guy looks like Loki
Fck corporations and fck costco
But they wont have quality service like Hawaiian airlines
Well now we know why Elon bought this election
