Uber DOES NOT pay for the drivers vehicles, fuel, maintenance, tires, insurance (and the driver has a $2500 deductible only if we have a pax in the car) etc... Ubers business mode doesn't work without the the drivers taking on the cost!! And on average how much do these WAYMO cars cost more than $200k per AV... and Tesla can't get it's AV to to work... this is another pile dream...

    7:48 This is why companies like Tesla exist. They’re building autonomous vehicles without any expensive sensors, and millions of autonomous ready Teslas are already on the road using FSD (Supervised), they already have billions of miles of data, all Tesla has to do to make those millions of cars driverless (pending regulatory approval) is a simple flick of a switch.

    This guy is siding with Uber, probably even getting paid for promoting lies . Driver's are NOT getting paid $ 2.20 per mile. In Florida, Uber is paying only 58 cents per mile for most trips. A short trip that most times can take 15 to 25 minutes or more for ONLY 2.74 cents. And if it's a reservation trip you lose 40 minutes for a trip of $5 or 6 buck's..... Driver's are being slaved and abused. That's not all Uber allow many riders to never be on time for pickup. It's infuriating when a driver trying to make a living and has to wait 7 minutes before he's allowed to cancel that ride, which 2 of the first minutes are free. If driver's get $ 1.00 for wait time, they'll be on time for each pickup... Driver's are being robbed and slaved. Making an average of $14.00 per hour gross. After all expenses 7 buck's per hour. DRIVER'S ARE NOT GETTING $2.20 PER MILE..

    • @Coz131
      @Coz131 Місяць тому +1

      What do you mean by pushing for space where new jobs gets created. This is creating jobs, it just happens that it's taking more jobs than it's creating, however all forms of technological advancements will have this effect and that includes things as basic as a car in it's early days because cars took away the roles of horses and the humans that take care of them.

    • @kaj5509
      @kaj5509 Місяць тому

      @Coz131 Yeah that's what I meant. They have a net negative in jobs. So because they clear out more existing jobs than creating news jobs they should for example push into fields like psychology or eldery care and create tools to make it more fun, easier and fullfilling for employees to work there so more people get exited to get into this fields. They Demand is high for employees in this fields, but no one wants to work there, technology could change this and could create more Jobs in this fields so we would have overall a net plus of taken jobs. I'm sure there are many other areas I haven't touched on, who need a Job boost.

    • @Coz131
      @Coz131 Місяць тому

      @@kaj5509All technological advancement in theory starts out with net negative jobs. the invention of internal combustion engine basically removed more jobs than they created but the jobs are of higher value. There is no reason to keep inefficient processes and jobs because if a country isn't becoming productive, others will. The fact that they remove people from driving uber means that people then can to look for other jobs in those industry.
      Technology should and can help in those sector and some people are building them but many of the entrenched industry operators and employee are not open to it. This is another can of worms.

    Great video, as always. Several comments saying things like “best business content on YT” and I can’t say I disagree.
    As a consumer, I am excited by this innovation.
    As an investor, I wonder if all the benefits of this innovation are going to go to the consumer, or if Uber will be able to capture a portion of the value they create with driverless taxis.
    In war there’s a saying : “you can make a plan, but the enemy gets a vote”. I feel this is applicable to ride share. Uber has a plan, but Lyft gets a vote in how much Uber is able to charge for these rides.
    There’s also a threat of suppliers entering the market, with companies like Tesla threatening to start their own driverless taxis companies to compete in the space.
    So far, the story of ride share has been one of intense competition resulting in consumers capturing most of the value that is created. I agree that driverless cars are a major shift, but I wonder if it’s enough to break this industry dynamic.
    That being said, I agree that this is bullish news for Google. I think they are in a spot to benefit from this.

    • @Maxinomics
      @Maxinomics  Місяць тому +3

      I appreciate the investor skepticism. Particularly, in the long run, and especially for the Uber side.
      As far as Lyft goes, at this point for me, it's the *exclusive* deal Uber signed with Waymo that makes me consider Lyft as even less of a competitor than they were before. And, financially, this is not a company in great shape. Uber won the war and Lyft's balance sheet/cash flow reflects that.
      I was kind of surprised, why wouldn't Waymo want to partner with Lyft as well to get the additional distribution? I'd love to hear thoughts on that, I have some ideas but nothing solid.
      Agreed with Google and Waymo. They appear to me as significantly ahead of everyone else and will only pull further ahead. Tesla's FSD is great (I have it), but my experience with it says it's not ready for no driver. So the Tesla event that was saying 2026 or 2027 to launch a robotaxi service, that feels like an eternity. Assuming it even launches on time...build the CyberCabs, procure parking/service areas, build the app/software stack, build out support infrastructure, work with regulators...it's a large lift and one they seem to have only just started work on.

Waymo has no intention of just being a better/cheaper Uber. $25B is small change compared to the size of this market, which is at least $1T.
