After lifting the one child policy and started the two child policy, there was no big increase in birth rate. Even without COVID-19, I don’t think most Chinese couples will want to have more than one child, regardless of the countries policy.

A point not mentioned is that India does not have a reliable or even sufficient power grid for manufacturing to the scale of China. In addition, the Chinese economy is as big as it is only because of population size..worker productivity is actually quite low (compared to developed countries) as is per capita wealth. Since unskilled manufacturing always seeks the cheapest labor source, India will eventually be in the same place as China is now (high labor cost for unskilled labor).
On the grid side... a big part of the boom in China was building out their infrastructure. Back in 1997 China generated 10% of the electricity they do now* (link at the bottom). Commodity prices and producers went bananas as China built all the infrastructure necessary to be a major exporting economy. The same would need to be done within India. But that's all part of the allure of growing India's economy. The internal build out floats the world's economy in an equal way to just manufacturing it's trinkets. Two pieces of the same pie that feed each other's productivity, what ends up being a positive feedback loop. more infrastructure is built -> manufacturing/economic capacity goes up -> more money comes into the economy -> more infrastructure is built -> manufacturing/economic capacity goes up.... etc. India is already the 4th largest generator of solar electricity**. 13th for nuclear. 6th for hydro. 5th for wind... they're making strides to be on the forefront of modern electricity generation. So another boon for the global renewables market should India need to really grow it's grid. *China Electricity Generation: www.maxinomics.com/china/electricity-generation **Global Solar Electricity Map: www.maxinomics.com/map/solar-electricity-generation
India doesn't have a reliable grid?? This isn't 2010. Access to Electricity has increased by leaps and bound. Even in rural and semi urban areas from where I hail from electricity remains fairly consistent.
Nonsense, Chinese are very productive that's the reason Chinese manufacturing always wins. They have a very strict work ethics. Companies are still hanging in China not because of cheap labor but because of skilled labor.
China still has more than 1 billion more people than the United States. Fewer people isn't China's problem. Inefficiency is. The United States even with 1 billion fewer people produced more than China did.

When your country has a population of 20 mill and a low birthrate, you can mitigate this with more immigrants; when your country has 1.4 billion there is no source of immigrants to compensate. Not to mention an autocracy without respect for human rights isn't going to be a magnet for people looking for a better future. China is truly heading for mass, dare I say it...extinction. Perhaps in 80 years time there will be no more than 200 million, not necessarily a bad thing as the environment will benefit from less pressure. China's dream of becoming a global superpower will remain unfulfilled as its rapidly graying workforce shrivels and resources will have to be diverted to caring for the old who were unable, or unwilling to have children to look out for them in old age.

It doesn’t appear like anyone does. They even raised it to three children a couple years ago.

Time to dissapear the CCP for good. Take the power back. Power to the people
By your logic all western countries would have experienced this population collapse a decade ago.
Not really, western countries didn’t have one child policies and are also relatively immigration friendly compared to China.
