It was an unusual pack. The coaches were meant to represent teak suburbans but were in fact full length gresley corridors. Its rare for these to be done in early br ownership teak. In fact the Rare Bird train pack from the same year had similiar coaches. Subsequent reruns by Hornby of the teaks representing BR ownership had iffy printing of the teak effect. I bought this set for that reason. (For a lot less than 200 quid) just to add extra post LNER teaks to the Barry J Freeman set. The N2 was ancient tooling even back then, ex Mainline I believe which had dodgy pickups and hard to get sorted. The reason for the printing on one side, is that was the side that led straight into the compartments. The other side led to the corridor. So smoking and non smoking would have been inside. Pipe work only ran on one side prototypically. My Summary ... great coaches, naff loco. Great to pick up for a 100 quid or so and add coaches to the Freeman set and sell the loco. 😂

I just ordered one. Im just getting into British steam locomotive. I think they are beautiful machines. I live in Nova Scotia east coast of Canada and we have a few British locomotives in a museum in Ontario that were given to us. A4 class I do believe one called Republic of Canada the other is Dwight D Eisenhower. I may have spelled the last name wrong.

That N2 is as old as the hills. Originally a Mainline issue, then Dapol? and finally Hornby. Yes its should be a railroad model now. Pick ups are terrible to sort if you dare remove base keeper plate. Just sold mine as a new tooled one is rumoured to be coming out by someone

Nice looking coaches. I’d imagine the No Smoking/Smoking signs are correct. There’s no reason why they would be on the corridor side. They’d probably be on the internal doors to each compartment.

Enjoyed the update. I take my hat off to you being able to fathom the half built layout of someone else and then begin to continue it. I too have an old Marklin set, non digital with the old type of M system stamped metal base track. I have laid a round the wall track parallel to my Hornby Dublo and Triang tracks as I like to run all the older trains that meant so much to me growing up in the 1960s. Await the next installment of your Marklin project with interest. All the best. Jim in Aust.

Loved the sound of the steam engine at the beginning of the video and the WWII scenes with the boats, ships, and destruction scenes were stellar. Did not know Golden Arrow existed so I added them to my list of manufacturers. I also liked the Dr. Who gold Dalek on the ramp, lol. The live steam trains were interesting, but I think the newer ones have radio controls, don't they? The drag line excavator had to have an operator somewhere and it looked like fun. The detail of the scenes especially the dock scene with the cobble stone streets was beyond comparison. I have to say that this is one time the sequel is better than the first video even though that was good also. Great tour and video, Jersey Bill

Hi Bill, I t was a really good show and very high quality layouts, I am glad clipping the retail/manufactures is worth while I was never sure if it helps or not, your the first to comment so I will continue. There was an operator on the drag line, but couldn't get a shot without capturing them and I know most people don't appreciate being filmed. I have not seen the live steam at 00 scale with remote control, this Hornby system is from a while back and uses digital signals through the track to open and close the valves. As always thanks for the kind words, Matt

Some great layouts Matt. I have seen the WWII Military Dock layout but the WWI trenches layout is pretty impressive. Happy Modelling

The dock is so impressive just the size, the camera really can not capture it so glad you have seen it. The trenches were superb really hard to capture destruction, but this chap had got it spot on. I do recall you saying you ran the Trang TT, occasionally I do see it at the exhibitions but the TT120 is very rare considering how Hornby are pushing it here in the UK I can only imaging it being harder in Australia. My local model shop is a stockist but I don't see my self getting into the scale in the near future. Anyway all the best Mon.

Good selection of layouts. It is noticeable in these days of DCC and 5 pole motors that the trains are crawling along at snail's pace whereas in the old days all the trains were rushing around the layouts at brake-neck speed! Thanks for uploading.

Its funny, I do get comments about the trains being to fast and not to scale but I can also see people skip forward in the video statics if I show a slow train. but I think you have pointed out the key speed isn't that important its the control the modern systems give you. Many thanks for watching and taking the time to share.

Hi Mon, editing this as I though you were commenting on the garden rail shop - anyway the Kent show, main thing about the location, with the space there were many large layouts and with the room between the isles it was a very pleasant experience, inly issue, the light wasn't great . Matt

11:36 These such as Golden Eagle I think you said 7.1/4” gauge. The price is probably about right. But you need a truck to carry them. Thanks for sharing that video.
