    Wow! Lucky you, I have 1 store, within 30mins of my location, and it is a very small store due to us being small towns, and then 2 other "close" locations that are at 1 hour travel time, 1 way to them stores, but they are several times the size of our small town hone store. Nice haul!

    If and when they start making more of their products in the USA, I would consider them, although I have a good supply of USA made Craftsman to keep me going for a long time.

    • @thetoolbandit
      @thetoolbandit 56 хвилин тому

      I get it, many people want made in the USA. Outside of used they are getting harder to find at a reasonable price. A set of used Craftsman 6 point in 1/2" drive is hard to find unless you're willing to pay eBay prices. Then if you break one you can't get it replaced. A set made by Wright for shallow and deep metric is over $300. I can't spend 5x the price for a set that will only get used a few times a year, I mostly use 3/8" drive sockets. Thanks for watching!

    Icon really is a great deal, especially at Black Friday Discounts! I do think they are quality tools. The only thing I do not like is that they are sold by the set only. No ability to expand the set or replace a lost piece without buying a whole extra set. That is not a big deal when you consider the savings.

    • @thetoolbandit

      I agree, that is one of the big problems. I do believe you can order an individual piece through corporate but I have no idea what their prices are like. Thanks for watching!

    The "E" series Craftsman wrenches were made by Stanley. One of them in the beginning at about 1:15 into the video still had the bar code label from Sears on it, so that might have been a warranty replacement at one time or just open stock bought at the store. I have plenty of those "bad ones" like you described. They are good to fill in spare sets and make sets for road toolboxes/junkyard boxes. That was a good deal delivered to the door like that. I've gotten a few like that recently.

    • @thetoolbandit
      @thetoolbandit 5 днів тому

      I figured the E series was some of the last ones they Made in the USA. You're absolutely right, the wrenches will still work perfectly in a box where tools may get ruffed up or lost. Thanks for watching!

      @@thetoolbandit After that run, I believe they had made Danaher the exclusive supplier. By then, the "BF" Japan and "E" Stanley made wrenches were done and they were all "V*" series USA made Danaher until of course production was shifted to China and today a lot of them are made in India now. I was just in WI this week for work, twice in two weeks. I was there last week and then we had to go back. Both times in Green Bay.

    What did you call them “weather sockets?” I always thought of them as oxygen sensor sockets. What a weird mix of tools. Why so many 5/8 wrenches?

    WHO or where sold S-K? I've seen plenty in my day. Was that something they sold at NAPA?

      Back in the 70’s and early 80’s I used to see S-K in auto parts stores before the big chain auto parts stores came around. They were a bit pricey so most folks seemed to opt for Sears Craftsman back then.

      Many coal mine supply companies in my area carried SK tools. SK was very popular here, up until most of the mines started shutting down over the last couple of decades. Contrary to what many people are saying, SK still produce their USA made line of tools and have one of the best "out of store" lifetime warranties today. Even if you bought the tool second-hand or just found it somewhere, they will honor their warranty by sending them an email on the official website. I had to do it recently for a pair of USA made bent-nose pliers that I had bought on Amazon. They got back to me in less than 15 minutes and immediately sent me out a brand new pair after a short explanation of the issue and a picture of the problem pair. They never even asked where I bought them. The customer service rep informed me that a brand new, hand selected pair would be in the mail to avoid any issues. Even though I had to wait a few days for it to arrive, I was throughly impressed. I'd forgotten how much I missed that kind of warranty service. It was much easier than all tool company warranties i've dealt with for being "out of store." Sorry for the long-winded comment.

    Yes, Allen was part of Danaher who would have also made the Craftsman crowfoot wrenches. The Craftsman ratcheting wrenches you showed had the "I" maker's mark, making them manufactured by Parker Industries of Worchester, MA. I would have gotten him down a bit as the top box appears to have broken and/or missing lock bars. I wouldn't have paid $400 for what was there. Maybe $350 max.

    • @thetoolbandit
      @thetoolbandit 12 днів тому

      The video I released last week on the bottom roller was included in the $400. I think with both of them ($200 each) it was worth it. Not everyone will agree. Thanks for watching!
