Zeitview is entitled to ask for it as the conduit for the jobs that the pilots are receiving -- sure. It's absolutely a responsible business practice for that model...but if the Part 107 is as important as we (Zeitview too) all claim it is, then this should have never been overlooked in the first place. After contradicting themselves by failing to address an obvious and crucial point of the whole "commercial drone pilot" equation, they decide to go nuclear...which, again, they are entitled to do. However, let's play out a scenario: Let's say that I, somebody who was registered with Zeitview but never accepted a job because the rates are bullshit, actually did accept a job at some point along the line. Let's also say that, due to one circumstance or another, they do not have my Part 107 on record. Now, let's say that they report me for failing to show proof of my Part 107 and the FAA decides to come knocking...was it a good use of time on Zeitview's part (and by the transitive property, the FAA's) when I am able to present a Part 107 license to the FAA that was valid when I conducted the job I took from Zeitview? No. It was not. Not only does it make Zeitview look terrible to their core customer base (Part 107 pilots), it also wastes their time and resources as well as those of the FAA trying to get to the bottom of it. Instead of narcing on people who probably do have their Part 107 if they took the time to register for a job site in the first place, they should have sent their notifications and then deleted accounts that did not respond with the evidence of a 107 within the timeframe they needed it. It was a bullshit move. Period. They'll never win back the trust of the pilots who took exception to the threats. As drone technology continues to be cost prohibitive and working as a DSP becomes less and less lucrative (because it will as the industry matures), they'll be sorry they alienated their core client base because they'll never recapture the interest that they had during the early years of the industry as we know it today. Again, I've worked marketing, PR, and corporate communications on a professional level. I have a background in this stuff. This was a shitty move and whoever made the decision to draft THAT email needs to be fired. Threatening legal action against your customers is typically not a way to win at business.

@@TheDroneGeek We can agree to disagree. The FAA manages pilots and if there is a person who is NOT a licensed commercial pilot flying in a commercial capacity, they should be reported. Zeitview owes nothing to someone who is not going to be in compliance, and that requires you as a grown adult and professional pilot to ensure they have a copy of the front and backside of your license. They did not lead by threatening anyone, they gave numerous emails to ensure things are square with their registered pilots... YES that should have been a precursor before handing out jobs, but it wasn't. It could also be they want an update to ensure previous licensed pilots are not expired. So now we have pilots who have done commercial jobs and Zeitview is simply asking for your current credentials. After being ignored for multiple weeks, they finally get to a point where a line has to be drawn. This is no different than any other profession that requires the updating of yearly certs or training records... if you fail to meet the standards you do not stay licensed! You are calling them narcs for reporting pilots that are unprofessional and unwilling to provide evidence of their license after being kindly asked, it's just silly. Zeitview is a bad company for many reasons, but not for this. I say companies should have more integrity and hold pilots to a higher standard. If you blatantly refuse to cooperate, communicate, and be a professional, then we are done doing business, and in this case because you are not willing to provide them with your license, you can at least show it to the FAA. If you never had a license, sucks to be you, if you had a license and are just being a twat, then you are someone most companies aren't going to want to do business with anyways. Win, win. Also, none of this has anything to do with (public relations) PR; however, I would say the "general public" would be very glad to hear a drone based company is enforcing FAA legal compliance, especially after all the drone nonsense that has been stirred up recently. I myself as a licensed 107 pilot applaud the decision because I have nothing to hide and want to see the industry properly regulated. I provided my license and ensured I was in compliance, and subsequently never received that final email, shocking!

Great question! I have not done a direct comparison yet, but will jot notes down. On a general basis, I don’t notice a huge discrepancy and I’m not sure there would be one. The size and weight difference, at this scale, is negligible as are the differences in motor and propeller size. Accounting for physics, I’d say the Mavic will handle winds better than the Air, but again…negligibly. You may get a 3-5mph difference if that.

Depends on how you plan on utilizing it. If you want optimal flexibility in your exposure settings and peak lowlight performance, go Classic. If you want easy auto-exposure and ready-to-use images right off the drone, go Air 3S. There are rumors of a Mavic 4 in Q1 of this year…may be worth holding off to see about that…

Potentially, but I’ve flown Autel and DJI there with no issues at all. Another piece of feedback I got had to do with the DJI Mics being on at the same time. Again, it probably does play a factor, but I’ve flown Autel, DJI, and several non-Chinese drones while running the DJI Mics simultaneously with no issues. Unacceptable at this stage of the game to have those types of issues arising when the competitors’ products and other RF controlled products had no issues with either scenario.

Good question! Maybe, but it’d be a negligible improvement if anything. When you’re dealing with analog video, you kind of get what you get - not a ton you can do to clear it up.

Honestly, there are a ton of different directions in which you could go to get started. I recommend you start by flying something prebuilt -- the question I have for you is, do you want to ease into the FPV experience or more of a baptism by fire? Either way, I'd recommend looking at BETAFPV's product line (I have some affiliate links on my website which I'll link below if you feel inclined to help me out with some commission money xD). If you want to ease into it and start by flying in tuned-down flight modes (i.e. position hold (GPS) and angle mode (a more manageable manual flight mode)), then I'd recommend the Aquila 16 kit. You get a controller, goggles, and the drone for just north of $150 last I checked. If you would rather jump out of the pan and into the flame and expose yourself to true FPV flying, I'd recommend the Cetus kits. You also get your controller, goggles, and drone for somewhere around $120 depending on the kit loadout. thedronegeek.com/affiliate-shop/betafpv/ Either way, you can't go wrong with BETAFPV. I learned on the DJI FPV and Avata 1, but if I had to do that over, I think I'd go BETAFPV because it would have exposed me to some of the nuance of FPV and configuring/repairing/building drones right from the start. We’ll see. Artificial Intelligence covers a wide array of technology. Doesn’t necessarily have to look, act, or function at the level of ChatGPT/Gemini/Alexa/whatever to be considered intelligence. I’m excited about the concept of AI assisting in framing. May be very cool.

The Phantom is undefeated IMO. I’d love it if they released an anniversary edition of the Phantom one day…they won’t, but a guy can dream of a Phantom with a Super 35 sensor onboard…*sigh*

We’ll see. I have faith the motors will play a larger factor than they probably will…blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while though.

The Neo which is tiny and only 135gm can handle winds way above the recommended DJI limit. This is almost 2x the weight and much wider when unfolded so should be a lot more resistant to being flipped by wind gusts over the Neo

The crashing isn’t the problem, it’s the g-force put on the frame while flying acro. If they limited it to Angle mode, it would work fine as a manually flown drone, but I could see problems with hinge points and being thrown through acro flight. Another commenter suggested the Flip is going to be to the Mini what the Neo is to the Avata and I actually like that framing quite a bit. I bet the Flip is basically just an OOP-compliant Mini.

I ordered the Air 3S and had it in 6 days...the issues at the ports are troubling, but DJI drones are still being let through...albeit much less effectively than in the past.

Did you order direct from DJI? My Neo came in 5 days. But I notice the Air 3s still hasn’t hit major retailers in the US.

I'm happy about it. there are way too many idiots out there flying DJI drones. it's going to be good for hobbyists to have less morons flying around.

the professional community builds their own drones. it isn't hard to build a drone that can fly over people. with dji you get what you get. with a self built drone the sky is the limit.

Sure, professional drone pilots are building their stuff. I meant the other professionals that are videographers and photographers first and just want to be able to offer drones shots along with their current abilities to document festivals and other popular events.

I think that's a solid idea.

Or break your heart. The mini 4 pro is a great drone, odds are the flip is a repackaged neo.
