That hump looks really terrific, Scott!
Whoops! That should have been converging at 100ft ahead.
Real-life MGs were align to converge to a point about 10ft ahead of the aeroplane, but doesn’t matter for yours.
I think thats horrible. But i guess its a form of flattery, or you just gotta see it that way so it doesnt bother you. Your doing some awsome work. Love watching how you think everything through.
Absolutely outstanding work once again, Scott! Your dedication and problem-solving skills are truly inspiring, and the results of your hard work speak for themselves. It’s frustrating to hear about someone stealing your videos, but your talent and integrity will always set you apart. Looking forward to your next update!
Thank you for the kind words. It's been a challenge, but it's taking shape!
Absolutely stunning stuff on making the hump. Not everybody knows that the Camel never was the official designation of this Sopwith; actually I think it was Sopwith F1. The "Camel" designation popularly came about because of the hump, which was nothing more than a metal dome (hump) above the double machine guns, made to heat them to prevent freeze-jamming. The Camel was a difficult plane to fly; its best feature was the double machine guns. This double fire-power made it possible for the Camel to deal with the Albatross dV, which dominated the air battle from the fall of 1916 to the spring f 1917, and whose major feature also was its 7,92 mm double machine guns. The Camel's synchronized double Vickers machine guns were a major factor why the Camel turned the tide of the air battle during the spring and summer of 1917 in WW I.
Thanks
Beautiful work Scott 👍
Thank you
Getting fun now!
Sure is
Buen trabajo!!👍🏻
Gracias!
Excellent work!
I'm pleased with how it's coming along
I love your build. Never boring. Keep it up.
Thanks, will do!
Great job! Setting up the Vic's .... what fun! Use a darker reddish brown for the stain.
I have a can of reddish brown stain here somewhere.
It's looking wonderful!
It's taking shape nicely!
Did you file a claim with you tube, I found the channel that steals others content?
Yes, claim lodged
scott: sorry about the dirt bag youtuber who's stealing your content, and in the 🇺🇸 we call that joint a 'rabbet' 🐇. 🍻
Thanks
Great work
Great progress - nice result!
Thank you! Cheers!
Keep em coming Scott. Nice work!
Thanks mate
As always another great job, thanks for sharing
Thanks
Excellent work! Perhaps some leather that could be laced around the cabane / fuselage union?
Possibly!
Coming along very nicely. She'll be a sweet bird...
Thank you
Excellent Scott.
Thanks
I had serious doubts that your aluminum hump would work out, that second bend looked highly problematic. Really pleased I got to see your process, bending over pipe, equally pleased it worked out nicely :-)
I had a few doubts myself!
Eucalyptus veneer with Maple stain, looks wicked !
My thoughts to
Scott when were you at 38 Sqn and East Sale
38Det B in Townsville 04-08 Sale 90-97 and 01-04
@scottmatthews5280 Hi I was post to MNTESL Sale from Jan 82 to Jul 84 and 38Sqn from Apr 87 to Apr 94 and from Nov 03 to the end of the Caribou with 23Sqn /38 Sqn. I am a Atech. You are doing a great job on the Camel.
G'day, Yay Team ! One wonders how many YT Videos are out there showing how to hump one's Camel ; slowly, carefully, and only moving one part at a time, clearly ! Good job mate. Stay safe. ;-p Ciao !
Enjoying your amazing work very very nice!
Thank you
Love your work fella. The theatre of closing the door is pure Hollywood
Thanks Phil
Coming along nicely Scott, I spent 12 months of my apprenticeship working up at Mt Cook NZ. All day long we'd see and hear Mt Cook Airlines 748's come and go, they were a nice air craft. 👍
Deaf from above was our motto the supercharger screamed!
Just catching up. Happy new year. Looks so good! As always, thanks for sharing 🙏
Happy New Year to you too. Thanks for watching.
@scottmatthews5280 Thought you were in the RAAF, more than obvious with the trainer colours on your aircraft. I was at 486Sqn in the 80's then Support Command (RO4) and Wagga, shadow posted to MOVCORDC. What trade were you?
I was an Atech or frame for 30 years
@@scottmatthews5280 Yeah not familiar with Atech but Framie I know. So when you were at 503 where you at 523 or 320? People are going to think I'm speaking in code but Scott will know.
Great progress with the Camel. It was cool to see your framed picture of HS-748. We had one of those when I was a mechanic for Air Illinois so many years ago.
I have a soft spot for the HS-748s.
Do aerodrome kits come with the spoked wheels? If not were do you get them from?
Yes, supplied with kit.
Yeah the gear on his planes tend to sit a bit short. It's especially noticeable on his Dr. 1. Something to do with being easier to manouver on the ground?
It does look a bit short!
The cowels are really coming together beautifully!
Going well
Looking great! One little tweak at a time, out of the way! The list is getting shorter, and it's showing your attention to the details!
Yep, I'm happy with how it's coming along.
I love this project. This is really some beautiful work!
Thanks for watching
👍👍
Will the turtle back plywood behind the cockpit notch into the ply sides so address the issue of that corner ??
It simply goes over the top. I have to remind myself not to over engineer a 1916 aircraft.
Good stuff mate. You’re trucking along nicely. I think you’re right about the gear length being a bit short. The original props had a much bigger diameter and needed clearance
Yep, I'm pretty happy with how it's coming along.
Looking most excellent! I womder if (somewhere in the future) you could fab up some boot covers for where the cabane struts meet the fuselage? to protect the attachment points and keep the weather and wind out. Perhaps a bit of leather that could be laced over?
I have been thinking about that.
Looking good, thanks for sharing 👍 is the Link trainer with the Air Cadets next door still working, back in the 70s l had a lot of great times there
It sure I know it? At Latrobe Valley?
Lookin good!!
Thank you
Another excellent video! Certainly coming along very nicely.
Thank you very much!
Can’t wait to see it fly!
Me too
The cowel looks so perfectly positioned bravo!
Thanks, I was pretty happy with how that went.
Brilliant work
Thank you Ian.
Thanks for sharing another great and interesting build
No problem 👍
It's always interesting... never boring to watch Scott, you're doing a fantastic job 😊
Glad you enjoy it!
Been missing this content Scott .
Back at it thanks
