Doing roundels is so satisfying! The trick of sealing the edge of the trim tape with the base color REALLY WORKS WELL! And use of a fixed central point for the compass is essential. Nice job... wait to you see the big ones on the wings! They'll look great! These kinds of details make the plane come alive, naturally. Every other visitor to my SE5a's hangar calls these "targets" by the way... "Why would you put targets on the plane?" they ask. Marvelous opportunity to relate history! Enjoy! Keep cranking forward, Scott! John SE5a
Absolutely first-rate work!! I've built two airplanes (and substantial portions of several others) and have never taken the chance of doing the exterior paint myself. I've been enjoying your project videos and am just stunned at how beautiful your roundels turned out. Two thumbs up - brilliant!
G'day Scott, Yay Team ! Absolutely bloody Spectacular... Glorious to watch. I really liked the quip, "I would've been happy to have paid for that...!". The second time you have a go at that, it should work ; and it's allright if it's ugly and cantankerous and tricky to operate. The third time you go at it, what you funish up with should be better that what you could afford to buy in the Shops - if the nearest Shopkeeper had one to sell. They wind up being hard acts to follow...(!). As in a lot of your Videos, what you're showing best - is how preparation, more Preparation, and then still a bit more PREPARATION...; Yields the Best outcomes if all. Good stuff ! Amazing! There's something satisfying with watching the masking tape reveal. If I did that it would rip off the green paint underneath, or there'd be big white bleeds haha. Looking great. More Biggles every day. Thanks again for the videos 🙏
I build scale model aircraft and this video reminded me of that process! I was anxious when you peeled the masking tape off but the paint held well. You can get low tack masking tape that makes it less likely to get a paint peel. The roundel is brilliant!
Brilliant work! An emotional thing to see you craft marked as she would have been, and preparing for combat. Not gonna lie, brought a tear to my old eyes.
@@scottmatthews5280 It made me laugh when you did EVERYTHING to ensure that the paint job would be perfect, and then you were gobsmacked that they turned out perfect.
It's more of a white rectangle than a white square😊I need to see this bugger fly. You really are making a silk purse out of a sows ear. I don't think factory roundels back inthe day would have look as good.
Well done Scott. I would never have thought that completing the roundels would be such a big milestone. But after watching this it certainly feels like it is. Please excuse my OCD, but the fonts you have used look to be a bit modern. Not a big thing, probably only noticeable by people who have similarly damaged minds like mine.

Yesterday I visited the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre. They have a small collection of Camel artefacts on display. I could make enquiries and perhaps get photographs if you have an interest.
