Brilliant actor. Great show, hands down one of the best.

Gaz is kind of a degenerate, a foil to Ray's level headed, almost boring man, penchant for violence notwithstanding. Ray does not like the things Gaz likes, and at times seemingly just tolerates his presence. Freddy is also a bit of a degenerate, albeit a capable businessman. And yet, Ray is friends with both of them. Dave has more in common with Ray, and they obviously have better rapport and banter, a barely contained bromance. Ray is friends with him too. Loyalty with Gaz I would argue is long standing, what we're shown in the series is just continued cycle of reciprocal returning of favour: nobody remembers the beginning, and there is no end, as long as one continues to return the favour. That's how male friendships work. "Just buy us a beer". I think that's what Ray speaks about when he says "I'm big on respect". Freddy gives Ray work, Ray saves Freddy by basically taking on his debts. It works, until Freddy breaks the cycle. He exits the "loyalty for loyalty" unspoken agreement with Ray and their relationship unravels. Ray does not kill Freddy, because of their past, and Ray is not that kind of person. I think we were all sort of disappointed, but it's obvious why Ray didn't off Freddy, the same reason he didn't off Dave: it was just business. Besides, Freddy's gambling will catch up to him, and both know that Ray won't bail him out next time. Freddy should have come to Ray to ambush Rafael, knowing full well the sort of damage Ray is capable of, but he panicked. Ray rolls up an entire crew to avenge Gaz, Gaz in turn finds a kidnapped girl inside of a day, Dave finds a competent and likable partner in crime and is ready to rock and roll at a moment's notice, but Freddy is too much of a bitch, and does not want to risk his hide for a friend.

After that montage I understand why he didn’t kill Freddy, he will live the rest of his life looking over his shoulder …….. everyday

Ray actually explained it to his daughter very well.

My only complaint, some of the ep were less than a half hour, only a few ep per season... I know it was hard on him playing the role and I'm grateful but I mean it as a compliment to say I could have used 3x as many minutes of this gem as we got. Still appreciate what we got (and know those scrubs in his car didn't stand a chance).

I thought the scene with the pedophile was great, it didn’t show what Ray did to him in the tunnel. Just left it there for you to think.

the writing was brilliant..... not 1 sentance was by accident, the whole team in fact.... writers, actors, producers, directors etc should be working in LA, let the whole world appreciate their skills 10/10
