    Dude, repetitions back and forth in child’s pose has definitely been a great addition. Also, between sets, taking a broomstick or a small pvc pipe and just sticking it behind your back between your arms for a few seconds helps a lot.

    I'm 7 weeks post surgery (bicep tenodesis + bursectomy), my arm has been off the sling for one week now. However, what worries me the most is that I have virtually no external rotation, the pain is excruciating whenever I try to rotate my arm externally and it almost feels as if it's locked and can't move further. I tried your exercises you showed in the video, but it doesn't help aswell. Do you have any advice?

    In UK and in Canada, the physio does not touch my body and instead gives me exercises to go home and do, I feel like I am so far behind when I watch you tube videos, I am now 17 weeks. I wish I could find a physio that will actually touch my body and help me do the exercises.

    I am on day seven also and I would say my experience is exactly the same as yours. Very little pain not much swelling and the daily physical therapy is a bit of a challenge, but it’s coming along. I believe it’s important to not push it but to let it happen over the six week. Thanks for your efforts.

    I'm 15 days post-op and most of the pain is gone. I had several tears and grinding of the bone. Big difference for me was that the surgeon didn't want any movement of my arm for three weeks. Limited PT will start after 3 weeks. I was advised to start taking oxycodone when I got home to get ahead of the block wearing off. Block started wearing off about 24 hours after surgery. At about the 30 hour point, the pain started to ramp up. At that point I started taking acetaminophen along with the oxycodone. I finally came off the oxycodone after day 5. Now fairly pain free, waiting to go first PT session on day 21 after surgery.

    Excellent Video !! Very educational. I watched some of your other videos was your Tenodesis surgery done fully arthroscopic ?? Sometimes referred to as High in the groove Tenodesis. Also It’s obvious you are doing all your exercises with proper form .. Time under tension might I ask ??? Can you comment on if any exercises feel different on your “TENODESIS” arm as compared to your other arm ?? Pull-down, back row exercises, rear delt,biceps curls etc.etc. ? ? ? Thanks for your advise and information. I had a neighbor who was a text book example of hitting the genetic lottery very Lean low body fat injured his first shoulder at 45 years old had a mini open Tenodesis had a good outcome roughly 5 years later he snapped the long head tendon on his other arm that Tenodesis was fully arthroscopic way up high. I wish I could have asked him but he retired moved to another country it’s like he went witness protection program 🧐

    At day 5 after surgery you're doing external rotations. Is that active or passive rotations. The only thing I was told to do( I'm at day 10) was to take my arm out of the sling 3-5 times a day, bend my arm at the elbow several times and then bend at the waist and do 10-20 pendulum swing rotations(passive) in each direction . I won't have PT untill week 3. Thanks for posting

    First of all, I have been following your videos prior to surgery of my full thickness supraspinatus tear. Very helpful and informative! Today marks 8 full weeks post surgery. However, the past two weeks out of the sling are actually the worst for me. I have a lot pain at night and I think referred pain and n my lower bicep area. Did you have this too if you can recall? I too workout a lot and went into this surgery in good shape. My PT started two days post op, and thought I was going to progress rather quickly. Then week 6 came and the sling came off. Any feedback from your experience at this stage with sleeping and pain would be greatly appreciated.

    I am 13 weeks now, I moved to Canada from UK, and find myself without a physio at the moment, I try to follow online videos, but am so afraid of re-tear, or doing things to early, but also when I watch some of the videos, I am so behind on Physio, although I have good range of movement and my Dr was pretty pleased with my strength at 11 weeks. I have done a lot of stupid things in desperation, but thankfully she said my surgery is still intact. Thanks for your video, I really need to get some bands.

    This really is bad recovery. Training until pain, weakness and stiffness returns and needing days to recover. These things will snap like twigs and then you are really screwed. Even the smallest stress will attract fluid around the repair and that will set you back. You need this thing working properly for the rest of your life, what is the point trying to advance the schedule set by the surgeon.

  • @excaliburextreme8425
    @excaliburextreme8425 Місяць тому

    I've watched a few of these vids and really have reservations about the advanced exercise schedule. I had complete tears in 3 of the 4 shoulder tendons from heavy muay thai training when i threw a right hook away from my body against a 120kg heavy bag. The momentum of the bag opposed the power of the punch and I felt at least one snap. Turned out my supraspinatus was irreparable due to the acromion rubbing. So I had major arthroscopic surgery with an acromioplasty and biceps tenodesis. The tendons were a mess and frayed from years of weights and impact. My recommendation... I had 1 shot at making this repair work because the surgeon improvised to reattach the supraspinatus. The entire first month was spent in the sling with progressively more frequent dangling outside of the sling in a passive range of motion to relieve stiffness. There are no prizes in trying to be Superman and thinking you can speed up recovery. Shoulder tendons have terrible blood supply and any stress will cause fluid surrounding the attachment. This will set you back and leave it vulnerable for reinjury. Most failures occur between months 1 to 3. Maybe because mine was more serious than most, I attempted little active stretching and strengthening through to week 10. This is the point at which repair accelerates. Between weeks 10-13 (3 months) the shoulder has shown remarkable progress daily, even with minimal work. At no point have I ever stressed the shoulder. In the videos I see these quite normal exercises done with load and the result is pain and weakness. But he does it again the next day and the next. The tendons are only about 25% repaired and you will invite reinjury and have to start again, if even possible. Take it easy, range of motion is your next goal not strength. Loading up the tendon is dangerous but gentle stress from stretching will be very beneficial. So even with my very pedestrian recovery program, by week 15 I had full range of motion, no pain and a shoulder ready to begin resistance work. Between 4-5mths size returned and there was no perceptible difference between shoulders. At 6mths I would consider the tendons were about 80% healed and I was ready to consider myself past the point of reinjury although I have not attempted any impact training since. I strike with my legs, left side and shadow box on the right. There is no such thing as 100% repaired; there will always be weakness at the point of reattachment and nothing beats the natural means that tendons attach to bones. My advice is to use pain as an instant warning but do nothing for at least 4wks. I was told it would heal in 6mths and without any physiotherapy or additional expense, I had a shoulder healed in 6mths with full range and 80% strength. Tendons are not like broken bones and you will probably only get 1 chance at it. Don't be a hero, you don't win a trophy if you are 3wks ahead of progress because everyone is different and have different levels of severity. Just remember the pain and inconvenience of the injury, operation and first month of recovery. Don't f*** it up! Good luck.

    Greetings from Germany. I am on day 7 post surgery (supraspinatus tear). I was so afraid doing too much or being too active, but once i see what you are doing I am really relaxed. :)) As you said, once i stopped to guard my arm on day3 it got way better! I only need pain medicine before night. Last but not least I started PT on day 3 and it helps so much, even if it is kind of painful.

    What was your Tylenol regime? I’m trying to see if I can get through it as well without the opiods
