your rotator cuff surgery recovery series has been a real life saver for me and the only solution that worked. I've tried everything. I started by following your Week 6 video and onwards and I've seen significant improvements. Thank you so much for documenting everything!!
Am now 6 months post rotator cuff surgery. I am 75 and many surgeons would have given up on me. However with a great surgeon regular physio and your videos I am back swimming all strokes and playing competitive tennis. I cannot reach your level of fitness but I found the videos really helpful particularly in the dark days
Great news I am at week 12 now and I begin resistance training when I see my PT this Friday… Can’t wait to start strength training, but I’m feeling great and I’ve been sleeping like a baby for the past three weeks which I thought I would never do again lol… I see the light at the end of the tunnel now
That’s fantastic to hear! You are doing well. Sleeping like a baby is a huge bonus! The big turning point for me was Week 16, four weeks after I started strength training with bands and light dumbbells. The light keeps getting brighter. Keep up with that positive attitude. Awesome!
I start week 12 PT strength tomorrow. I don’t see my surgeon until the following week. I’m having a ton of trouble with lateral raise with bent arms and external rotation and I’m a little nervous
@Eileen Besser. Don't worry, having trouble with lateral raise or external rotation movements is completely normal. I had the same issues. It takes time, but does eventually get better! Let us know how the appointment with your surgeon goes and how you progress.
Great videos. I'm at 12 wk post op massive tear and these have really helped. I'm similar age and fitness and been huge help. Any thoughts on when you could back to skiing from post op or other activities .
@Erik Bliss thank you! I'm super glad to hear the videos have been helpful!! I was back to skiing about 6.5 months PO. My healthcare team gave me one focus this season, "don't fall". Haha! Even after 6 months, be careful what you do. Incrementally increase activity smartly. Protect that shoulder when you are skiing by going on lower volume days (less people) and taking easier than normal runs. That's what I'm doing this season and I'm a pretty accomplished skier, working as the Head Coach of a race team. I plan to put out additional videos on my progress in the coming months. I hope the videos will continue to help you and your recovery continues to go well.
Boy would I would like to trade places with you now, as of this date I’m guessing you’re where you were pre-injury; when did you start driving? Did you drive while the arm was still slung? I can’t fathom not driving :(
I'm doing well, thank you. Check out my Week 16 video for the update on my driving. I wasn't forced to drive because I was able to work from home and my wife helped me when I needed to go places. I had the luxury of waiting to drive and felt a lot more comfortable driving once I could again. Here is the link for Week 16: ua-cam.com/video/d1LriEZJndI/v-deo.html
I'm coming up on the end of week 5 post surgery. Been following your progress when I have/had the chance, but I might have missed what you refer to as Phase 1 and Phase 2. Would you mind explaining what those phases cover? Thanks.
@JennilynESS thank you! The bands attached to the wall with the handles are from Crossover Symmetry. It's an amazing product that is great outside of recovery. I will go into that more in the future, once I'm to that point. My PT has them as well. crossoversymmetry.com/products/individual-package

If you go to his channel directly, he has many helpful and informative videos to share - starting from the beginning of his surgery. Best of luck !
