Forge welding Wrought Iron - Restoration
I wonder how the first tools were made? Were they just cast instead of forged? How do you make a hammer without already having a steel or iron hammer?
Good for you brother. Get your clout too
How do I learn to do this
It’s a thing of beauty
Ah fantastic great work The future of your blacksmithing
Excellent work love listen and looking at the videos
Brother your a hero and great influence to the lot of us! God bless you! Also how do I send you a few hammers i need new handles for!!!
That twist completes the perfect look for that tool! Perfection!❤
Hi James
Cheers Glen! 😄🔥
Yall put Warwick to shame....😂 good on ya
Lads came into the yard today, can you grind a point into our bar please No, I'll go and get a beaver pack chisel and weld it on. Merry Christmas boys enjoy the extra weight and power
Beautiful work. Am just beginning my smithing journey so way too advanced for me at the moment .Lovely to watch a craftsman shape metal like this.
Why do you never bounce your hammer off the anvil?
That's my job
That's a beauty
Lads, as soon as this starts up again next year, you're going to see double the numbers visiting the castle. I'll be one of them
Turning your chisel and vise into a cutting brake, sounds perfect!
Cheating
If that vise could talk we could share a pint
one of the worst things as a blacksmith is also, being able to make your own tools "I just wanna go buy this tool and not have to bother with making it, but I can make it as good if not better for less so I cannot justify the purchase". Being able to make a lot of different things sounds great and all, but then you understand the value of things differently and things that were once an occasional treat or purchase now never gets purchased or made because of that. Like with swords, even the hand forged pattern welded ones, I look at something like that and say "man thats really nice but I could make one just like it for $30." Don't get me wrong, things are more often worth what they're priced at with handmade stuff than not.
Very nice work. Thank you for sharing.
A haven't heard that name word blacksmith in years
Nice work. Thank you for sharing.
I once compared all the "tempering colors" different books and smiths used. They vary wildly with the steel, ambient lighting and the smith. An electric oven fixed that problem.
The boys are going back to bunratty?!
watching this video made me feel like switching to luigi in super mario
This is literally my dream job
These guys are awesome
What a top Job, such good techniques. Well done.
things were built as best as they could be built, if you suggested that they should have only be made to last a certain time, I'm sure you would have been put under the bloody thing 😂
can i have hammerhead
Where is the wood 🪓 man? I normally get his videos instead of these forgeries. 😉 Slan go foill!
That’s the coolest power hammer ever. Are you kidding me? Damn we use to make cool shit.
Beautiful forge welds.
what a great community
i have the anvil from one of these. the hammer broke years ago and the old blacksmith scrapped it. very sad.
Love how you cut it off by leaving just that tad bit. Dont have access to a forge currently. but really enjoy watching the little things.
LINSEED OIL!!!!!!!!
When I went to visit horsey-friends in Norn Irn, they told me off for calling the person who put shoes on the horse ‘a farrier’ and said in Ireland he’s a blacksmith…..
Loved this commentary free version; just the natural sounds of hammer on metal etc. Thank you for great content and so far as I have watched no swearing, extra kudos 👌🏻👏🏼
FINALLY UA-cam SHOWS ME THE OTHER HALF OF THE BOYS OF BUNRATTY
Pro tip = you can buy a bic lighter and achieve the opening of bottle for 2 or 3 dollars at the convenience store and save yourself alot of time, money and headache from having to forge one of these albeit it's not a conversation piece...
The slag shredding off, is it because of oxidation or is it the metal naturally purifying.
I have an old curved grass cutter thing? the short handle,,is brilliant!
They used to make machines that would outlast the operator.
I never knew what the square holes in anvil were for, thank you.
I love watching the red hot metal getting formed. I've never done any metal work but it reminds me of the couple times I've tried glass torch work. its beautiful
He’ll be forging sheet metal into blades in no time at all!!!!
I wonder how many parts of the hammer could you fabricate with the hammer
Hearth and home I would love to have one of those roses as the centerpiece of my dining table.
