Solution 9 is my favorite area but I had a lot of fun with the jungle half of the game. I know it's not for everyone, but it gave a lot of exploration of the lore and cultures of this world while being a "reflection" of America (as in both South and North America). The links back to the First and Eorzea's cultures was sprinkled throughout was nice too. That all said, storywise the first half was solid and the second half with Spleen was weird. Don't get me wrong, I love Sol9 and "heaven" with Krile's parents dropping more heavy lore about the reflection hopping, but Spleen's whole deal felt weak. I know it's a set up, but storywise if it didn't have the spectacle of the areas we went to, I didn't care for it as much as I did for the tour of this world. I like DT more than Stormblood but I compare DT more to ARR as it's a new beginning with a bunch of set up for the future.

Hi, hello, Balmung RPer here. Well, RPer from other games too but currently part of the FFXIV RP community. Something else to consider with Balmung's "Quicksand" RP scene is that at this point mostly tourists taking advantage of the world/data center travel who come over to Balmung because of the rep it supposedly has trying to get in on some ERP...when the truth is there is a LOT more going on than just finding hookups at the Quicksand, but these tourists basically create a self-fulfilling prophecy that keeps the stereotype of Balmung ERP going.

I called that this would happen years ago. Its no longer Phantasy Star anymore, its just dress up simulator and epeen for whales able to shell out hundreds of dollars every update. Ever since SEGA did the RMT purge, even going so far as to ban players, innocent or not, of buying RMT Meseta, since RMT hurts them from making money off AC Scratch, I knew it would end up like this. Its just SEGA Cashing in, with minimal content as possible. PSO2 was good, but this? NGS? Its fail.

People on Balmung aren't out there trying to get reported. Usually if you see anything in the open, it's a visitor or an alt or someone acting out what they think Balmung is like based on what they've heard and memes. RPers put way too much work into their characters to risk losing them.

I quit in dec 2021 new updates were super disappointing, combat was boring from the start, nothing good to drop you just grind meseta and affixes, they only care about AC Scratches and nothing about gameplay, story + characters, interesting enemies to fight against and new areas. Everything is completely inferior to the original hell even PSP2 Infinity on PPSSPP feels better to play than NGS. I'm waiting for EOS shame about thousands of dollars i spent on my cosmetics but if it's a price to pay to punish Sega for shitty sequel then i'm all in. FU Sega you greedy bastards.

Their creative and monetization team is the worst of all gacha games (only FGO is worse with how bad their rates are), their art and level design team improved a lot and they can create really neat and pretty looking locations. I hope first two going to lose their jobs when their company going to go bankrupt and other half gets hired by some more competent devs so they could keep making nice worlds to explore. It's sad you are also showing NGS in the background what another disappointing game that's ruined entire IP to me.

I played PSO2 for 5-7 years on and off since it was first released in SEA then I move to JP after a year cuz SEA was dying until NGS started and I quit the game around that time, I started playing in Middle school and I quit during college (I have like 8k hour or more total). NGS launch was a disaster and such a waste of potential, it was so sad. So I left and let it cook for half a year and I was hoping that they will learn from base PSO2 and fix all of the jank and come back to try the game again, still suck so I left and came back a year later and the game still suck balls. The worst part is the community that stay seems to be okay with that like bro, NGS is worse than Base PSO2 and base PSO2 suck dick with recycle content every season while the new content only relevant for a few months before they get shafted and despite the huge huge amount of content in its lifespan most of them are irrelevant like wtf is this bs. They could have make all of the game mode relevant by giving them unique reward so that people won't get bored as they could experience all kind of different game mode but nah, only like 1-2 relevant EQ every season with few additional event with reused asset, recycled boss without any additional mechanic just more HP and updated reward and it seems like NGS haven't changed much at all in that aspect and worse, they did not improve on the last new classes that PSO2 got and instead make the combat barely better than base PSO2 like wtf. Bro Hero was fun, Phantom is hella cool, Etoile is top tier and my personal favorite, super smooth! Fairly strong while being an all rounder and Luster is on a whole new level, honestly it feels way ahead of its time, super satisfying, powerful, high skill ceiling and rewarding. They even improve on older classes and make them viable although doesn't feel anywhere as smooth as the newer class, so I was expecting NGS to take the older class and mix them with PSO2 successor class to make a new experience but nah, NGS combat is just so bland despite so many years passes after the first successor class was released, not improving is one thing but goddamn none of the classes is as good let alone better than base game. Anyway, go play Wuthering Waves or sth, it sux that it is not an MMO with multiplayer centered content but goddamn it is better in everysingle way aside from the lack of MMO aspect though you can still play multiplayer with friend so that's that. Btw Wuthering waves took 3 years to cook, the same time NGS has been released and yet they are night and day when it comes to quality of content. Of course it isn't an MMO but still the size of the world, the number of classes/weapon/chara and enemy types isn't far off, just quality is not even close

There is SOOOOO much wrong with the combat in this game, from Animation delays to Netcode to Long GCD to only one way to play a whole job, it is attrocious. I literally learn a jobs rotation and I am done for the next 2 - 4 years, and I will play exactly that way all the time. It is beyond garbage. This game is for enjoyers of the world itself and the social aspect of the game, and maybe roleplay. This game isn't a game for gamers. I love FF when it was turn based, peaking at FF12, after that they all are kind of shit tbh. The story of FF14 is amazing though, have to give it that, but in the same breath, the PvP is OMGWTFSOBADOMG

It just makes me laugh that he talks about the combat system and shows a level 10 to 15 player in combat with little experience… get to stormblood …

I think upcoming new MMOs need to figure out how to nail the combat without deviating from the classic feel of rotating through your spells. The slow tab target system that FFXIV and WOW use are fine, but its not a system that will survive if its trying to compete for new players in the modern market. Whichever studio cracks this formula while producing a high-budget MMO will have huge success.

I kind of agree that the character creator could use more options and more freedom, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t weird to hear someone’s primary complaint be that they can’t make their cat girl “sexy” enough. I love this community, sometimes, but there are just as many times that it makes me sad.

FFXIV has some other issues that are more pressing than the character creator and the whole game would have to be built from the ground up to implement something like PSO2:NGS or similar. Which is why I would have heavily preferred if instead of a visual update for 7.0 XIV ended with Endwalker and they had started working on the next FF MMO with a proper and solid foundation to do all the cool things they can't due to spaghetti code and the rushed development of ARR.

if you think seasons 3-9 were fun, you should've been there from season 0-3 it was even more fun than 3-9 because the SBMM wasn't ridiculous making every match a sweatfest. you had some easy matches, some sweaty, some in the middle. now its just all sweat all the time. tbh season 5 is where it started to go downhill. thats when they added the 25 xp to shields & it took fkn forever to kill people. thats when they first started adding dumb changes nobody asked for. the community collectively lost its sh*t & they reverted the changes in season 6. but the SBMM continued to get worse & worse. eventually I stopped playing because they never brought back solos. now they brought it back & I don't even like it. not because the mode isn't cool, but because the gameplay is bad, which is a core game issue. not the fault of the game mode. the sound & hit detection is bad & you shouldn't be able to sidestep strafe around bullets like the matrix. thats just dumb.

It's not like they won't do it. The character creator is still set in the old engine and they can't really change much in terms of how it approaches character creation. Plus, they still have to factor the limitation of consoles, so PS4 is still the bottleneck for the game minimum standard. The only way they can introduce sliders and better character creation is you have to wait until the next generation MMO from Square Enix, so that would probably be FF17 or FF18, and hopefully, they won't do another proprietary engine. I'm sure someone on their team did a mockup of how the new character creation would look and be implemented for FF14 but the overhaul would require a whole new engine to be made most likely (which would require overhauling all of 2.x and then some).

I like the character creator in Black Desert a bit more than PSO2NGS's. And not only that a side by side upgrade with the character creator and Glam system upgrade would be nice. I just want to make a character that doesn't look like a clone so i get it.

1:28 I wouldn't say it really all that risky if you just be quite about it and don't post videos/pictures with your full name and data center out or everyone to see but for some reason people can't keep that they mod to themselves! Even despite the lack of body customizations, cause I can somewhat understand the devs not wanting to redesign every outfit in the game to fit more body proportions, the fact that there are only like 4-6 face presets for every goddamn race is criminal. AT LEAST give us like 8+ to add some form of uniqueness to the game. Can't even go more than 30 minutes as any race in this game without seeing someone that looks like their character is somewhat related to mine or just a straight up clone cause barely any face customizations. Hell even other NPC's in the story looks like our characters a lot. Takes me out of the immersion and annoys me every time I see it. Like a small change that could make every race in this game more unique for each player is to add more beard options and adding that goddamn Derplander stubble for every male race in the game and for women add more make up options. Modders can do it, why can't Square Enix do it as well. It's so easy to do and that alone can automatically make most people's characters at least look more unique. Square is just giga lazy

The side by side comparison features FFXIV's out of date character creator and PSO2NGS's character creator. Keep in mind that PSO2NGS is rated "M" (Mature) and FFXIV is rated "T"(Teen) by the ESRB. This would explain why some features aren't in FFXIV's character creator while also highlighting how out of date the character creator is on FFXIV compared to other MMO character creators. I hope that in the future they will at least add more face options, enhance the boob slider, add a thigh and booty slider and allow players to actually adjust the anatomy of our characters. FYI: UA-cam will delete certain comments when certain words are typed or used. I've seen my own comments / replies removed and deleted by youtube. If your comment gets removed or isn't showing you are advised to reword it.
