Gacha Games will kill the MMO Genre on Console Soon

Gacha games are about to kill the MMO genre on consoles. And the reason is that devs/gaming studios aren't making MMOs for consoles but for PC or mobile platforms. Blame Sony and Microsoft for the Gacha takeover that is coming.

Gacha games are going to overtake the MMO genre on console if MMO devs / studios don’t start ramping up production. So far we are seeing a lot of big time(and former big time) Gacha games get ported over to the console platforms yet we haven’t gotten a new MMO in nearly a decade.
The blame for that can be put in bother the players and the dev / studios. On one hand people DONT HAVE THE TIME TO INVEST IN A MMO and would rather play a gacha game where they can play at their own pace.
On the other hand we have to consider the fact that porting over a MMO or developing a new console MMO would cost millions and then would have to go through each platforms paperwork process.

I am down for it. MMORPG Publishers need to STEP THE FUCK UP!. Hoyoverse updates are literally better than PAID DLC's of MMORPG and its for free. Not even counting the amazing art, text, web events, music, art contests, etc... they always keep up their quality and don't leave the content be dry. It aint overrated, its just good.

Not sure what you mean. The video is basically talking about how Gacha games are going to eventually overshadow the MMO Genre on console. HSR being a big time gacha game with thousands if not millions of players is prime example that gacha games can take on MMO’s.

Because gacha is more easier to make than MMO, you don't need to code multi player or cross platform if its console, all you need is make an auntentication from server for getting the items and the gacha. Compared to writing code to make multiplayer works, is just way easier, and more money too.
The game needs to be good to be able to get the gacha going. If the game is bad no matter what monetisation it has, it just gonna die fast. (NGS cough...)
There's so much live service games that player can play. Player time is not infinity.
I feel like game does not need be MMOs to be good. Instance based games which can play offline solo is better than MMO, like MH or survival craft games.

Some would disagree and prefer MMO’s over Gacha regardless of how easy it is to make a gacha game over a MMO. The biggest turnoff for gacha games is literally the gacha system.
Some people prefer to grind repetitively for the stuff they want instead of spending money for it.
