Still can't believe how they butchered this track up. It was the best circuit for pure speed on the F1 calendar in its old oval shaped configuration, and how now the once awesome straights are bloody forests again and the reconfiguration of the track in 2002 or so virtually sent the circuit broke. They then had to race on it every 2nd year & share the German GP with the Nürburgring. Shame on you, Bernie. You have as much smarts as you have height, which is next to none.

To be fair, i have made peace with that thought a long time ago. Todays cars are simply inappropriate for tracks like that and the driving can actually be a bit boring. Sure, they could have kept the fast track until before DRS era but after that it didn't make any sense anymore to keep such an awesome pure track. Yes, this circuit was better than Monza imo, running into the stadium with very low downforce setup was always a challenge. Indianapolis was also challenging/interesting in that respect as well.

@@VinsUplifting DRS is such a shit implementation to F1. The fact that modern cars need a whole DRS device just so the racing can be atleast a little interesting should tell you everything thats wrong with modern cars. And the brainless 12 year olds fans won't care anyway since they're too stupid to realise just how much they are missing out on, all they care for is the edits on tiktok after the races. Never before in F1 have we had the opportunity to have light cars, lots of downforce, but lots more power, engine based racing, slicked tires, no DRS, naturally aspirated engine, V10 with some kind of eFuel if they want to still act like they care about the environment and GOOD wheel-to-wheel racing. But no, they had to blow it all up to get a good public image. Its so dissapointing and painful

Hockenheim was not very popular among visitors back then, it had the lowest score among visitors from 1988 to 2001 because it was only 45 laps due to the course length and people sitting in the woods also did not have a great experience overall. It also was not profitable, they had to pay way more money to the FIA than any other track from 1992 to 2001. The state of Baden-Württemberg at some point didn´t want to support the track just from tax payers money anymore. Finally sponsoring would be on TV more often and more frequently with the new version. It was just out of date from every perspective except racing. Having driven at Hockenheim myself more than 100 days in my life, I enjoyed the old course, but it was just the scenery, the skill was not there (we did not have to take the schicanes, but I did 9 out of 10 times). I guess for a driver that outfield was also not as challenging and exciting.

It's very difficult to do since you won't be using a continental grip to hit this kind of serve. You'll have to use a semi-western grip and that grip won't allow you to snap your wrist as effectively as a normal continental. Then you'll have to try and hit the inside (the left side if you're right handed) of the ball instead of the typical behind/outside (right side). Then you also have to factor in increased chance of wrist injury too. You can probably do this serve once or twice in a match just for a quick switch up, but at the end of the day it's not worth doing on every serve.
