Electrical Troubleshooting - 277 Volt Lighting
In this video i will educate you on electrical troubleshooting on 277 volt lighting that is not turning on.
This is one of the most basic issues you will find out in the field so I hope with this video it saves you time. So you won't have to waste time trying to figure it out. When you are testing and troubleshooting always use a meter and not a pen tester. They do have there uses and you have to know when you can get away with using one but for the most part you want to use a meter. This issue is as simple as having an open neutral. The apprentice working on the lights was using a pen tester to troubleshoot the lights. He couldn't figure out why he had power at the light fixture, switch and breaker but still the light would not function. With that said always use a meter.

Axis Lines & Benchmarks for electrical work
Переглядів 2,2 тис.Рік тому
In this video I will educate you on what Axis Lines are and how to use them to install your electrical equipment precisely in it's location. I will briefly show you how to use a benchmark to find correct elevations. Usually on large construction sites the GC will be in charge of laying out Axis lines where you can measure off of to pinpoint where your electrical equipment needs to be installed....

    For the spacing for the 90s would it supposed to be 4inches from center to center of the conduits? I must not understand something since the spacing you measured is 4inches in between the two 90s Thank you.

    Great content brother. Sorry if this is a dumb question but can you also mark your center of bends using the developed length and hook method as well?

    I really appreciate you going over the spacing for the conduits going into the box at the end of the video, I was about to type in how you figure that out haha Thank you again for your videos they have all been fantastic!

    Great Knot, I pulled 275' (that's almost a football field) of 250/250/3 aluminum with a 1/4" yellow poly rope. It got tight like a banjo string at times but it came out the other end! Whew, what a knot, what a pull, I did it by myself on a Texas 100 plus degree day and was moved to tears of joy when it all sunk in, thanks for the video, I have been fretin over that pull for two years, ha you helped me kick its ass!!!

    Melvin or anyone else commenting on this post. I have a non-electrical question regarding MCC building construction. I see the floor was covered to protect the epoxy floor coating. We are about to start a new project constructing a switchgear building. From a sequence starndpoint. In your experience, when should the floor be prepared and epoxy coating applied. We were thinking after the ductwork and cable trays are complete. The floor needs to be clear so the coating is installed across all surfaces and under the gear. When is the gear and cables installed?

    Thanks man I've taught myself how to bend pipe with your videos. One question for compound 90s I have though is for parallel compound 90s would it be the same half tangent formula?

  • @silverfang2615
    @silverfang2615 Місяць тому

    Hey man, I am kinda stumped. I did everything the same as you did in the first half of the video. I would have figured that the compound 90 stub once you bend would be exactly 28" in height. But I got 29" so to me we are gaining 1" somewhere or am I missing something. Can you give me some clarification?

    Hey man im current running 3 1/2 emt and im doing 90 with a kick and they land on a unistrut rack going down into a switchgear for some reason my spacing is off near the 90s could you explain if you could ? My kick rise is 29

    Thanks for the channel and for making the videos I really enjoy the content and definitely have learned some stuff. I was a foreman some years ago and when I was a JM I installed some pretty conduit racks myself when I was out in the field, but you my dude are the BEST and the most advanced that I have seen. So yea I have done a couple racks with parallel offsets but I don't remember too many times I did parallel kicks with 90s. So ok I have a question....... Let's say I had the same setup but instead of 30 degree bends, and because of where the pathway for the rack had to go, and so the kicks had to be like 35 degrees, or 37 degrees or whatever. Once I bend the first one I can use the protractor to find the degrees. So what math do I use to figure out the rest of the kicks like you did in this video?

    Yeah the other thing is if you are pulling out more slack you can always arrange the puller farther away and with more cable sheaves to keep it straight. Have seen a couple jobs done with tuggers where it was done without splices pulled from box to box and they would pull out say 30 feet, then re-attached the hitch knot to the conduit end and pull another 30 feet out until they had enough length to pull to the final box by hand. They set some temporary eyebolts in the ceiling to hang the sheaves. Setting up the boxes in the right spots helps a ton in making it more pullable. Have seen some jobs where a lot of it was done by hand so just needed more boxes to make the pulls box to box easier. Some of the new tuggers are pretty amazing they even make a light duty one for drills that can go up to 1000lb but for short pulls of a couple hundred pounds tension its handy.
