The Original & Real "Aviator Ben" UA-cam channel that chronicles my flight adventures to destinations ranging from my home base in New York/New Jersey to as far as Texas, Alabama, Louisiana, Florida and Canada. My dream from childhood was to fly, however, life got in the way and I didn’t get a chance to achieve it until later in life. I received my private pilot license in Apr, 2018. I have landed in uncontrolled and class Charlie, Delta and Bravo, including #JFK, #LGA & #EWR.
Flying became my new passion, so I decided to purchase my own Piper Dakota in Dec 25, 2019 and now I’m officially addicted to aviation even more. I feel proud to fly my own plane and take my honey with me so we can share the adventures together. Don’t get me wrong, I make mistakes and I am not ashamed to document them with the hopes that others (and I) will learn from them as well.

2.5 weeks is unheard of to get a plane painted. Mine took 5 weeks, it was promised to be 4 to 6 weeks so I was happy with that. I painted mine for the same reason, corrosion was starting to form and it was time.
I agree that it was quick, but there were 1 mechanic and 3 other guys that worked on it full time. Thank you for watching and sharing.

or build a plane from old bike frames . or timber ..two by four frame or ...some way simpler construction just crude wood and plyplates as wings , in a strong simple way l guess not glue then ,maybe just test strenght of timbers by weight test in middle see if cracks , .. would it work for a few flies at least , fun vid for youtube safer to remote control with man weight sandbag in seat. or old plane wings on old car drive till lifts no propeller.h

Watching this 4 years later 1. Thank you for posting this. It is a lesson to all of us as to how quickly it can happen. 2. Happy to hear you got your instrument rating. I hope you are practising to stay proficient, and I wish you many more safe flying hours. Again, thanks for sharing it. It is brave to share your mistake so that all of us can learn from it.

They stopped those takeoffs BECAUSE of you (your IFR), not FOR you. That’s why you cancel when in VMC, and just back it up with an IAP when possible.
Brother would be proud of the flying and the crew resource management, for sure. Not so much the complaining. If you and your plane are IFR-certificated, it’s on you to handle what IFR throws at you, including complicated routes. The airspace is ATC’s, not yours, you’re not up there alone. There are tools available to break out airways, and you can always upgrade to equipment that handle them. A 530 isn’t mandatory equipment. It’s not ATC’s fault your equipment doesn’t handle airways. At one point you mentioned looking outside the plane is the worst thing you can do, but as she said, she did. In VMC, you don’t need to stay on instruments every second until landing. Nice flying, all around.

I am working on my ifr rating. I am 67 how old were you when you got yours?
I was 72, which is about 1 year ago. Go for it, it's never, ever too late to learn and enjoy life to its fullest.
So you are that guy that doesn't think of climbing to be in glide range or doesn't know how to assess something, but rather inconvenience ATC to redirect traffic because you are scared of over flying a lake. You are an incident waiting to happen. "Real " avaitor. 😂

I guess you can rule out ever flying to the Bahamas.
Do alligators jump as high as 3000ft? Did you not fly over an ocean when you flew to the USA from your country? If you don't feel comfortable flying over a lake that means you don't trust your plane. You'd be better off walking.
You should not fly a single engine piston over a lake beyond the gliding range of the aircraft. This is basic risk management. I don’t think a lot of people routinely cross oceans in a Cherokee.
You have no idea what you’re talking about.
An airliner is a multi engine airplane that can fly on one engine has life rafts and floatation devices just in case. If you lose an engine in a single engine airplane over a lake you are pretty much screwed. Especially if you are severely injured during the water landing. So it was smart of him not to fly over the lake.
Living in SE Wisconsin I know these feelz. Trying to get from the Milwaukee area south past Chicago, you basically have two opens, go way out of the way around the ORD Bravo or go out over the Middle of lake Michigan. They simply have no route under 16,000 feet that they'll allow to go through or even over the Bravo. Most of the controllers in MKE understand single engine GA pilots don't want to be way out over the lake and they usually are very good about it.
