- Why did I need a new paint job?
My mechanic advised me following my last annual that corrosion has started and it needed to be removed. That means stripping the plane and of course repainted.
Background:
For the past 7 months I’ve been looking for a place to have my airplane painted. The ones that I found with decent references weren’t able to schedule me for months.
Then I happened to see Marcelo’s instagram and I decided to request for quote. Being cautious I requested a reference which Marcelo happily provided. Fortunately, the reference, Luis, has his airplane in Boca, which is not far from where I live. Luis was more than happy to show me the work Marcelo did on his 2, yes, 2 airplanes. I was impressed and decided to go ahead.
Process:
1. Strip and paint, remove all corrosion
2. Put a green primer aerospace coating.
3. Put three coats of awlgrip paint on top of the primer.
Added below options:
1. Apply 2 tone design (thank you Luis).
2. Apply Clear coat
3. Proceal windows
Advantages:
1. My plane was scheduled within a few days and it was actually delivered ahead of schedule. The job took about 2.5 weeks from start to finish.
2. The finished result exceeded my expectations and more importantly the expectations of my co-pilot honey who is the real BOSS.
Summary:
I would definitely recommend Marcelo to anyone who looking for a top notch paint job on their plane, at a very competitive price and superb quality. I was so impressed with the finished product that I suggested to Marcelo to offer a discount to my subscribers. Marcelo agreed. 2.5 weeks is unheard of to get a plane painted. Mine took 5 weeks, it was promised to be 4 to 6 weeks so I was happy with that. I painted mine for the same reason, corrosion was starting to form and it was time.
I agree that it was quick, but there were 1 mechanic and 3 other guys that worked on it full time. Thank you for watching and sharing.
