I cant wait for a deeper dive this was awesome, i love the ending and kind of wish you had expanded your thoughts on it some more. I really like how for all there religion and philosophy it could almost boil down to people who need a reason to avoid haveing to try at being better then they are.

Why haven’t the faithful of god been steamrolled by a fuckton of Arty Witches is because each devil wants to kill everyone wants to murder the world in their own way (Beelzebub would NEVER let another council member drown the world in blood and fire when his plagues haven’t yet been perfected). I could definitely see another hidden catch to the Wretched's deal in the narrative like "Yeah, your free, but who will take you back when they see your marks and realize all the messed up stuff you've done in Hell's name?" I imagine its also a possibility that their soul could be damned by what they've done, dooming them to Hell for when they eventually die. I suppose it comes down to how redemption and forgiveness work in this universe's cosmology.

I thought that the yoke fiends were cursed abominations of demons and beasts, and are so far removed from their divine heritage that it’s stated there is nothing left but a blackened spark of divinity. If they are humans that were captured and twisted that does also make sense. It could also be both, but this is the first time I’ve heard that they were former humans.
