However... the output resolution is NOT full resolution. - if you want 1080/60p for streaming, you will need to use the Micro-HDMI port. 2. Weather sealed - this is also a big deal for many of us! Bring people closer to God brings them closer to eternal life because that's what God is. That's the point. Without that nothing at all matters. It's all a dead end. We do have only one life but it's eternal. This world is just a pilgrimage. The Providence of God is His plan to draw us closer to Himself. That includes our bad times, in fact it specially includes our bad times

    @ariellac9368 21 hours ago (edited) I want to buy the Z30 for all the reasons mentioned here except my biggest concern in 4K video overheating at 30 mins ( there is a lot on the internet about this). Have you had this experience?I have been told to get an external power delivery battery and even a fan . If you have any suggestions for someone who loves all the Z30 features except this overheating as my goal is great stills and long 4K video.. and the compact. and budget price.. Please offer any suggestions! I am not a technical person and every time i go searching for answers i go down a rabbit hole of choices and opinions on the internet. Another question mark is stability when shooting video while moving without gimbel. Where you using a gimbel on this video? Thank you!!

    • @DallasJyl
      @DallasJyl 29 днів тому

      Oh, man that was so crazy! The thing to understand about Wallmart is that you don't expect to make money there, but you do hope to pay for your stock. So Wallmart will set the amount of units and the price they buy them at, say 50,000 DVDs at $4.50 a unit. After a week, they may begin to lower the price, and units that don't sell they will begin to send back to you and you will have to pay them back. The game most small films play is to make the upfront investment, and hope that Wallmart can sell enough units that the stock they sent back is payed for by the stock they did sell - and you then have something like 20,00 DVD that now cost nothing to sell elsewhere. Crazy.

    Ok dope…but the shutter and iso don’t play a roll? Say I’m shooting at 24 frames and my shutter is 1/50, aperture is high (sunny conditions) this is gonna be ok?

    • @DallasJyl
      @DallasJyl 29 днів тому

      Yes, shutter can play a role. IMHO it is way over-rated ... however, some people CAN pick it out in recored footage, and I can't see it. If you want to follow conventional shutter rules, shoot in 24p (I always do) and your shutter should always be as close to duble multiple of your frame rate as you can. eg: 24p = 1/50 or 1/100, or 1/200, or 1/400 etc. 30p would = 1/60 or 1/120 or 1/240 etc.

      I don't 🤪 lol. Maybe I should? But as I understand it, I don't think it is as important for compressed footage like H264 as RAW codecs (or maybe multiple codecs with different colour spaces) - as long as you have the correct colour space settings set for the project. For mac Rec.709-A is a must if you don't want your gama to shift like crazy on export!

Faith is part my DNA, and for the same reason that some might not see as much of it as they want, others may see more than they wish also - because for me its all to integrated together to separate.

  • @chrizzz
    @chrizzz Місяць тому

    Well obviously I am gonna leave another overly long comment, and I apologize if this becomes annoying. I think this might be the most impactful video I've seen from you so far. To be fair, the comment that I left on the other video was geared more towards wanting to see more faith represented in your content, as well as expressing my own struggles with the idea of contributing to our screen addicted society. I wasn't really trying to say that you were wasting your time in practicing your craft the way you were. But I love your response, and it is super relevant to my life. Allowing the desire to make meaningful content to become an excuse for not making any content at all is something that I am certainly guilty of. In fact, I am the most guilty of this. When it comes to youtube content, the least impactful video that you make has a much greater impact than the most impactful video that I never actually get around to making. I think it's clear that the things that you listed as time wasters are not actually a waste of time at all. But again, I am very guilty of postponing the things that matter because I feel like I don't have time for them. The idea that you have presented, of trusting that God has given me ample time to do the things He wants me to do is honestly ground breaking to me. I have noticed lately that much of my life has become focused on getting things done. Checking things off the list. Always trying to cram more into a day than I actually have time for. But in the end, this doesn't really seem to get me any closer to achieving my goals. And more often than not, I just end up feeling like a failure for not getting enough done. Living like there's no hurry seems to be a solution to this. And if I think about the life of Jesus, it seems that He regularly took time to rest, and pray, and wait. We don't read about Him running from place to place trying to get as much done as possible. So that certainly gives me something to think about. Finally, I feel like this video perfectly exemplifies what I have felt was missing from your content. You are using your unique perspective to present biblical principles in a way that is relatable but not preachy. If I was not a Christian, I don't think I would be offended by this, and yet you are in no way hiding your faith. This is the kind of content I don't see anywhere else, and I hope to see more of it from you in the future. Though at the time of writing this comment, the video only has 8 views, so hopefully I'm not the only one who appreciates this. Thank you!

    • @DallasJyl
      @DallasJyl 29 днів тому

      Thank-you for taking the time to write out this response Chrizzz! No its not annoying :) I apologize for the late reply on MY part. I'm glad you enjoyed it and were able to take something valuable way! My goal has been to make more of these kinds of videos. I used to think that a healthy channel should have conssistant viewership across videos, ideally increasing over time... But one thing I recently realized was that isn't necessarily true. Most channels will have different kinds of content - each with different goals. My "cinematic beast" videos for example, are "top of funnel" - aimed at bringing the channel exposure to a wider audience. A small portion of those viewers will resonate with "deeper" content - like this video. Videos like this one are unlikely to find new audiences - and videos like "turn your z30 into a cinematic beast" are unlikely to to continue to inspire the viewers (like your self) who want to stick around and go deeper. Hopefully over time, I will get better at packaging each type to resonate with its intended audience! That said, its easier to know that then to do it. 39 views isn't exactly motivating. BUT, I need to remind myself, that high views was never the goal of this video! And, I need to get better that this kind of video to - if I ever want to make more than camera hacks videos - which I very much do.

    I think you should not take down sharpening. The footage from the Z30 gets compressed and then you are trying to compress an already baked in unsharp file. You lose some details when you do not sharpen your footage from the camera directly and go for that Z-Log look. This kind of applies for the rest of the settings as well. It's best for this type of camera, which has no real Z-Log option, to get the "look" about right in camera without too much post-work processing.

    The Neewer CN-160 lights are crazy handy. I actually lit a few forest scenes at night with these lights. Of course it was with a camera that does well in low light, but they did an amazing job and saved the shoots. I got a CN-216 to try and really liked it. I bought another one a year later, but it had an issue with the switch, so I sent it back. They had no replacements for it and I got a refund. Then I found.....you cannot get the CN-216 anymore. I don't know why. Perhaps they want you to buy a slightly more expensive light of theirs?? Anyway, everyone should have some CN-160s in their kit. They are VERY handy.

      Yes, there are controls for shifting hue in the colour profiles - and more nuanced controls that let you shift colour balance in the white balance - which is where I would personally recommend doing this.

      @@DallasJyl so I can get canon like color tone then right?

    • @DallasJyl
      @DallasJyl 2 місяці тому

      Kinda. You could get more accurate results in colour grading with more advanced tools, as color/tint adjustments in camera will effect all colors not just green and red. Nikon and Cannon use different "colour science" math, which is baked into the hardware level - so technically you won't ever get a 100% match.

    I also thought about this, spending an hour with your kids making a sandcastle together is worth more than buying them a gift and watching them open it for 5 minutes before going back to "work"...

    Success is never around the corner. It’s years and years of a marathon where you don’t look at the corners for success, but how just focus on the goal gets you there. This is after 25 years of working on many creative endeavours. It’s a marathon, with Sprints in between. But I agree, it’s really hard to decide on what to do next when there is so much you could be doing.

      lol, That was the hope! This video and the last one "How UA-cam Changed My Life (With Under 500 Subs)" are both common outliers on many small channels. Not every video that is meant as a "gateway video" goes somewhere, but many do - at least for a bit. So far, this one has netted 14 subs - and given almost 1k people an opportunity to see if this channel it something they might like to explore further! Thanks for clicking, watching, and commenting @jayjake !

    Great video man! I' m still trying to work my way up 1k but for anyone reading this comment that's still growing, here's what has helped me grow me much faster recently: 1. I stream my photo editing on Twitch and found it easier to build a great community over there, a bunch of those people subscribe to the channel. 2. I've been reaching out to people directly that already follow me on social media and just asked them to check out the channel, you'd be surprised how many people are happy to and just haven't seen your story/feed posts about new videos :) Good luck to everyone and again, great video thank you!

      Interesting strategy, thanks for sharing! Taking a look at some of your videos I'm noticing a relaxing POV style, and I am reminded that in my video research I have often seen outlier videos with titles like "Relaxing POV Street Photography". They are usually very simple and long form (30-60 min). I don't know if it's still a current trend, but you might want to think about a variation of it!

    So after watching this, I wanted to leave a comment. Please know that I say this out of love and respect. When I first found your channel I was excited about it because you were a Christian and a filmmaker, and that's also what I am, but I was struggling to figure out what that actually means. It seems that if you hold Christian values and enjoy film making, you are likely to fall into one of two camps. You either try to make movies like the world does but without the stuff we tend to see as being bad about movies, or you try to take a sermon and make it look like a Hollywood movie. I have come to believe there must be a third option for people who want to use the art form of moving images to glorify God and spread the gospel without just making a watered down version of something else. I haven't quite figured out what that means yet, and I had hoped that you're channel could inspire me in that sense. But what I feel like I have seen from you over the last few years is really just more of the same stuff that other film making youtube channels have been putting out for years. I didn't really feel like there was a whole lot of Christ in your content. To be fair, I have not watched everything you have made. But in what I have watched, I have seen the occasional reference to doing what God created you to do or being who God created you to be without a lot of insight on what that actually means. I know that you have referenced creators like Matti Haapoja, and Peter Mckinnon and that has made me lose interest some because those guys aren't really my cup of tea. I have watched them some and enjoyed their content, but my totally unfair and biased opinion is that a big part of what they do is just make themselves look cool. Using the coolest gear. Traveling the world. Taking awesome drone shots of themselves on top of mountains. I think that other creators like to watch them because they think that they too can learn how to make themselves look really cool. Don't get me wrong, I know that they offer a lot of great information as well, but the coolness factor is always a bit of a turnoff for me. Though I too am guilty of making videos where I try to look cool. As I get older, and become more and more aware of how limited our time on this earth may be, I have been feeling a much stronger need to make things that bring value to people's lives and don't just entertain them and waste their time. Like if someone is going to dedicate a portion of their short life to something that I made, I really better make sure that thing is worth their time, and the best way that I can see doing that is to make things that bring people closer to God, or at least closer to His principles for living. I know that you have tried to inspire and add value with what you create, and I applaud you for that. But I feel like you probably have a unique perspective that is not being fully utilized. I'm not saying you need to become a youtube pastor. There are already plenty of those. And there are already plenty of youtubers making gear reviews and teaching people how to make better videos. But there is only one you, and I really want to believe that you have something to say that nobody else out here is saying. I may be completely off base here and if I am I am deeply sorry. I have really enjoyed your content from the beginning, and I am excited to see your channel growing. I just want to encourage you to think about the impact that you are having and urge you to proceed as a completely unashamed, unembarrassed, unapologetic servant of Christ with a message for a dying world.

    Don't know if it's the mic or the mix but your voice lacks bass-medium tones, it sounds like you're speaking through a loud speaker or with a High pass filter and some distortion

      This is a problem I'm trying to figure out. I don't get a lot of comments about it, but do get a regular trickle about it. I don't know if I just can't hear it, or if it's my speakers (on all my devices). I suspect it's my mic, as it's pretty cheep ($30). I used to add a fair amount of audio tweaking, but in this video I hardly used any to see if people thought it was any better. I guess not! If you'r willing, I would be interested for you to compare your impression of this audio, to the audio on my "Dear Matti, I Made This For You" video I posted last week and let me know what you think - as I used a different $600 mic/recorder combo I that one.

    • @DallasJyl
      @DallasJyl 2 місяці тому

      Film is all about effective communication. Does the lighting communicate to the viewer that there is danger? Or does it communicate that the filmmaker was too lazy to think about it? Does set communicate that the actor is actually on a space ship? Or does the audience think that they didn't have the budget and are sitting in a cardboard box in the directors driveway? Does the music and dialogue convince us that we should care about the kids in danger of being eaten by a t-rex? To be a great filmmaker is to be a great salesman and marketer of your story & message to its intended audience.
