This track popped up out of nowhere. We weren't expecting anything to difficult on a drive through Riddells Creek and surrounds. But we found ourselves on a wicked little track that had plenty to throw at us. Definitely going to upgrade from All Terrains to Muddies.

Mungo National Park. Unique ancient terrain with unexpected wild life encounters

At 10-11 hours of solid driving from the Sydney Opera House, this semi-arid wilderness has an other worldly appeal that needs to be experienced first hand to be truly appreciated. But if you come with us on our self guided exploration of this ancient landscape, we will do our best to...

that track you decided to turn around on. come on I took a commodore up that when it was pissing down rain for 2 days. use your car for what its intended and actually have a crack at it
I always tell people to make their own choice. I’ve been up steeper tracks than that. But with the way it was chopped up, the camber, and the AT’s rather than muddies, I felt better turning around. And I’m still happy with the decision. I love that you did it on a commodore though. I used to go bush bashing in the Wombat Forest with my HK about thirty years ago. It was a lot of fun. Cheers mate. 👍
Nice vid...thanks for sharing .....does you Pajero not have a rear diff lock...I thought it would have a diff lock, that would be a walk in the park with a diff lock.
Yeah the rear diff lock is standard. But we were hung up at the rear and the right side. Diff locks no good if the weight isn’t on the wheels. We still had a good time though. Glad you enjoyed the video. 👍😄
Thank you for posting this video. I made a similar optimistic assessment of my ability and equipment…. Similar result. This will help far more people than some 4wd24/7 demolition derby video. Also congratulations on keeping your cool and thinking through each course of action.
Glad you enjoyed the video. I can tell you we were pretty tired towards the end there. But we learned a few more handy lessons for next time and we’re happy to pass that on to others so they can save themselves a bit of pain. 😄 Happy travels.
@@CampAndDriveAustralia I think what made it a lot more work was you were the one with 4wd experience and your mate couldn't communicate and spot you, so you had to get out and check yourself, re arrange the maxtracks etc. Perhaps if they are regular company be worth getting him on a 4wd and recovery course? The other thing is, when bogged, Maxtracks are disposable and don't worry about breaking them. If the expense concerns you then you should buy the $80 ebay ones, work just as well just not as durable, but I've never personally used mine
@@bazza2540 all sound advice. I do consider maxtrax to be consumables. But I haven’t had one fail yet and I’ve had some good use out of mine.
A little hand winch would have been petfect i had the same pajero there great cars cool video
The Pajero is a remarkably capable 4x4. Often overlooked I think. Thanks for watching. We’re glad you enjoyed the video.
Ok so you went bush, you have worked hard and you are lucky it was not peeing down, good on you for identifying some short falls on the equipment you should carry every time you head out, including food and water so you can camp if really stuck. You will remember this as a “that time when” a story you can tell around the camp fire , everyone has one , all the best .
Thanks mate. Every 4x4 trip is a learning experience and every recovery even more so. We hope you enjoyed the video. Cheers.
Easiest gracks near melbourne id say are around lederderg/wombat and king lake. The more hectic stuff i drive is toolangi and mt dissa for sure
True. We went to toolangi and had to back out a few times. Lerderderg has a good mix of tracks from easy to WTF. 😄 Kinglake depends on what year you go there. If it’s been dry it’s so easy. If it’s been wet… Hope you enjoyed the video. And please subscribe if you haven’t already.
Hi guy's, you'll have to come check out Mudgee nsw and surrounds well thats if you havent been as its become super popular just in the last 5 or so years n plenty of places to camp 😗🤪
Thanks for watching. We haven’t been to Mudgee (except that I drove through it once about 30 years ago). We would love to check the township out and camp in the area one day. So many towns, so little time. 😄
Hay from blue mountains nsw. 🤪😝😜.good to watch n see where you go.#Mychild. 13:19 That sounds great n the price is perfect for an over nite spot.! or longer 🤭...!
Thanks mate. It is a great campground. Definitely worth putting on your list. Happy camping 👍😄
never would have thought Broken hill would have 17 thousand ppl living there thats about 5 to 7 thousand more than Mudgee nsw. ps have you been to Mudgee yet guys?
Given its location you would think maybe a couple of thousand. But Broken Hill is actually a big town. Well worth a visit. We haven’t been to Mudgee though. Do you recommend it? And thanks for watching.
Wat a great video guys 'was just wondering 4:27 were they wild horses ? born n bread in nsw n iv never ever herd if Silverton so thank you.
You’re welcome Dave and thanks for watching. I’m glad we were able to show Silverton to you. There are so many little towns in this country that small communities like Silverton are easy to miss. We haven’t even been to all the towns in our home state of Victoria. And yes those were wild horses just wandering around.
Would get filled up.. 👍🏼
This area have to pay??
Hi Broneo. This is a free camp. You do not have to pay. And it’s a really beautiful spot. I hope you enjoyed the video. And please Subscribe if you haven’t already. 🙏 😀
@CampAndDriveAustralia thanks buddy I can say you is the best in UA-cam make people more enjoy come down Noble park I'm happy visit you
@@broneo2165 thanks mate. That’s really encouraging to hear.
Hey ! Where did you get that t shirt 👕 I'd like to buy 1
I guess you’re talking about the Stones t shirt. That was from Target I think. The Queen t shirt in the middle of the video was from a Queen concert in Melbourne when they had Adam Lambert singing. For the record, I saw Queen with Freddy Mercury back in the mid 80’s. It was awesome.
You should do a video on hot tenting 😁
Yeah I know this guy with a hot tent. Maybe I’ll try it some time. 😄
Hi guys i came across your video's they other day great videos i subscribed. I remember we used the old kerosene lanterns back in the 1960s and the silent night fridges. Safe travels guys.
Hey, we’re happy to hear you’re enjoying our videos. Bash’s family used those lanterns as their only light source when he was a youngster. My childhood was a couple of years of the gas version when we were between houses. But they’re not only great for nostalgia. They are really bright too. Thanks for watching. ❤️
We did launders track last week in stock 2006 navarah . Best way find good tracks is just turn and take a chance . Take a good map from Aussie desspossals and use when your lost
Yeah we had a gps map and headed to a few tracks on that but kept coming to closed tracks. We only ended up finding that one good bit that day. But it’s all fun in the end. Maybe we’ll check out Launders Tk next time. Do you recommend it?
Thanks guys, very interesting video. I haven't explored that area, never thought of it to be honest but yeah looks great. The old homestead was fabulous.
Thanks mate. The Homestead was amazing. For $15 you can get an audio tour and the key from the Discovery centre in Balranald. I wish we had. Maybe you can do that one day and let us know how it goes.😀
@CampAndDriveAustralia I've got it noted and winter is my time. Can't stand hot sunny weather during the summer.
😂 haha! I knew you could do it
Murphy’s Law of Campfires. Whatever can go out, will go out.😆
If you're winded by picking that thing up and carrying it over to the table you probably better be more concerned with your Health and fitness than power. Thank you for the information
It’s true. I am carrying a lot more weight than just that battery ;) It just goes to show you there are camping options for all levels of fitness. Maybe you should check out our Lawn Hills video too. That was a nice walk. Start at the 13:00 mark though. The first half of the video is kind of boring tbh. Shout out from Alps/Europe
Right back at you. You’ve got some beautiful country in the Alps. That’s one kind of terrain Australia is missing. We don’t have mountains anywhere near that magnitude. Thanks for watching.
I haven’t explored that area anywhere near enough. Didn’t even realise there was a campsite there.
It’s only 1.5kms of 4WD track if you come from O’Briens Rd. Easy but steep drive in with a dry track and a 4x4. But it could be a very different story in the wet.
Good Video
Thanks for that. I really enjoyed camping there so I’m happy if others enjoy seeing it too. Cheers.
mantap saudaraku... terimakasih sudah berbagi video yang bagus dan menarik.... salam kenal dari saya....

It looks like some nitwit installed two dunnies!
nice one, glad this popped up on my to watch list. Those king parrots were awesome and how good is the sound of rain on the tarp. Not sure if anyone's told you, probably have, but you have a bit of a Ron Swanson thing going on 😛 Good luck with the channel, I know it's a lot of work, subscribed ✌🏻
I’m glad you enjoyed it. The king parrots were obviously used to getting a feed from campers. I tend not to feed the birds though. It didn’t stop them from coming to say hello. The Ron Swanson is a running joke between me and a mate. I’ve always denied it but now I guess I will have to tell him he’s right 😄. Just watched your Cotter River Vid which was great (liked and subscribed). So many people live in beautiful places and mistakenly believe it’s not camping if you can get home in less than an hour. Glad to see you’re not ignoring what you have close by.
cheers for that, glad to have you onboard....and nothing wrong with Ron Swanson, kinda fits with your channel ✌🏻 @@CampAndDriveAustralia

Thank you. We’re glad you enjoyed it. You have a great day too. Don’t forget to like and subscribe.
Thanks for the video fellas. Have driven all those tracks recently and as you say, Hickeys Ck E track would've been okay to get you out onto Mt Margaret Tk. Looks like there'd been a good bit of rain by the look of those mud puddles along Ben Cruachan Ck. If you had gone down Hickey's Creek Tk to Licola Road it might have been a bit concerning if wet, with some steep and slippery descents near McMillan's Lookout. Agree that a lift would be useful for the Pajero and also a winch in that country if you're driving solo.
Thanks for that. Yeah we loved that drive. But we were a bit unsure of the way forward so just played it safe and turned back. But that just gives us a reason to have another go. It’s good to get the feedback on Hickeys Creek East Tk as well. Cheers.
Hi mate , Great video ! I was wondering how do you keep your internet and google map going while off roading in those remote tracks ?
Glad you enjoyed the video. If you’re travelling on roads that appear on Google Maps you can actually save the maps you need when you’ve got a signal. But that won’t help you with remote tracks. For that you will need a 4WD specific GPS app. There are heaps to choose from. But you have to pay for the good stuff. There’s HEMA, Newtracs and a whole bunch of others. We use ExlpoOz Travleller and have found that really useful. Always take paper maps too if you can. Technology can and will fail.😄 Don’t forget to Like and Subscribe. 👍
Background soundtrack artist and song name please?
its Ice & Fire by King Canyon. Great tune isn't it.
Thank you 🙏🏾
We would go with you guys!!!😊

Have your truch got 2inch lift?
No we don’t have a lift. The suspension is factory original. But we get a 2 inch lift in the future.
Where about were you camping at the end? It looked really nice.
The camp is called Tanners Bend. There’s some more footage of it, and the road in, at the start of our previous video ‘4WD adventure in the Great Otway NP’. It has a couple of fire pits, tables and a toilet. Easy access off a dirt road. Really nice spot and very convenient access to tracks.
Watched a couple of your videos, like the down the earth attitude.
Thanks mate. We just enjoy getting out in the bush and hope others enjoy seeing where we’ve been.
Nice to see a video of a basically standard 4wd in the High Country instead of the insanely built (and expensive) LC70’s and Y62’s. That rear plastic bumper looks exposed, might want to look at Boos Bashplates who make a rear UVP to suit Cheers
Thanks for the comment. Yeah it’s amazing what you can get away with in some stock vehicles. I’ve heard other Pajero drivers call the rear bumper a sand scoop. I guess it’s a mud scoop too. Definitely need to do something about it before we leave it behind somewhere. 😂
nice drive
Thanks mate. We really enjoyed it. And there’s more to come if you enjoyed that.
I’m looking at doing something not deep off-road since I drive an awd,any suggestions around Melbourne and Victoria?
The Lerderderg State Forest has some easy tracks and is not far from Melbourne. Cobaw is another. I wouldn’t suggest Warburton at all if you don’t have 4WD. Just remember that track conditions can change from day to day. Don’t be afraid to turn back if you have the slightest concern about you or your vehicle’s ability to tackle an obstacle. Let somebody know where you’re going and when you’ll be back. And don’t enter 4WD only tracks. AWD is not the same. I hope that helps.
@@CampAndDriveAustralia much appreciated, thank you. It does help
Nice to see a mighty Pajero out in it's elements. Great video guys.
Thanks mate. The Pajero has done us proud so far. Glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers.
great video really enjoyed the scenery. Ive seen a black panther that dwarfed my malamute dog, at Devils Kitchen near Ballarat in Victoria. Stay safe out there
Hey thanks. Glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah there have been so many reported sightings over the years. It does make you wonder.
Great video guys, I've never been to Lancefield or surrounds before but it looks like a great spot to check out. Your plants really took off and are looking great!
Thanks for the comment. Lancefield is a town that’s managed to hang onto its country feel. Others a bit closer to Melbourne are starting to feel a bit suburban. And Cobaw SP is great. Both are well worth a visit if you get the chance.
Wow, thank you.
You're welcome!
Wow.. hot road 😮 pajero still a rest bro
We had such a good time on that drive with the Jeep. But the Pajero is so much more comfortable to drive. And has much more space.
Haha 'we're classic and old' you fellas aren't that old 🤣 Really great place that I definitely want to check out in the future! It was awesome of you to show us around the place 👍
It’s well worth the visit. A beautiful little town and I think SA in general is so under rated by us Victorians. Bu there’s so much to see and such a varying landscape across the state.
Awesome video guys, I really enjoyed this. You have been all over! I'll have to watch more of your vids for places to go and see! Happy New Year and safe travels :)
Thanks mate we’ve been lucky enough to do a few big trips as well as our regular camping activities. I see on your channel you’ve been on your own adventures. We’ll be checking more of that out. We hope you enjoy the rest of our videos. 👍😄
Melrose camp grounds is lovely place to stay . Great showers and toilets but it can get a bit busy during public holidays
We really enjoyed the whole area. So much to do and see.
A great video
Glad you enjoyed it. We could happily spend months exploring SA but instead, we are having to do it bit by bit over the years.
Argadells is a homestead & sheep farm also offering tourist accommodation & bush camping. According to their website, use of the 4WD tracks on their private property requires prior booking. Greetz from Europe
Thanks Sven. I think we must have visited the wrong website. Those tracks did look good though. I think it would definitely be worth booking a time to 4x4 there. We hope you’re able to stay nice and warm there in your northern winter. If you haven’t already, please don’t forget to like and subscribe. 😃
The be biggest challenge you seemed to have faced on this trip was the challenge to your common sense.
Why do you say that?
@@CampAndDriveAustralia You called that a flat tyre. That's not a flat tyre, that's a completely shredded tyre. You can only achieve that kind of catastrophic destruction running the wrong pressure at the wrong speed with possible overloading thrown in. Was the other "flat " tyre, within 20 mins., a genuine flat or another catastrophic failure?
@@glenwillson5073 tyre pressures were decided based on advice from locals at Kununurra. There were long sections of extremely sharp rocks at various points on the road. The tyre guy at Ellenbrae (who had 8 tyres lined up for repair and various others on order when I arrived) said he’d been flat out for weeks. The vehicle was not overloaded. Nor was I driving too fast Yes it really was within 20 minutes. Sometimes you’re just unlucky. That trip was 13000 kms with no other flats. I can’t say I’ve never made a mistake but I can say that these two incidents were down to bad conditions and bad luck rather than bad management. Wishing you safe travels and may your tyres never fail you.😄
I’m should also give a shout out to Ellenbrae Station. Great service. Great camping. And great scones.
@@glenwillson5073 The first tyre looked like it had been driven flat for some distance.
We almost killed ourselves on this track, we didnt know what it was and it just showed up on the navigation as a normal road. So we did the whole track with a campervan 2WD in 2,5 days. The most stressful thing i ever did. I cant imagine people doing it for fun. I felt like i was in a vibrator for 2,5 days.
Glad to hear you got through safely. Australia can be pretty unforgiving if you take a wrong turn in remote areas. We really enjoyed the drive but we had the right vehicle and knew what to expect. We had a bit of bad luck on the Gibb River road though. Two flat tyres and only one spare. Check out the video.
One _more_ item onto my bucket list! Have you guys done a video about your battery/solar generator setup yet? Interested in knowing how it’s gone
Definitely worth the visit.👍 There will be a wrap video at the end of the trip that will include things like the solar and battery set up. Spoiler. The Bluetti battery and panels were very good.
