  • Old-fashioned rolled oats can sometimes be tricky to pressure cook. Join Jenn & Barbara from Pressure Cooking Today to learn the tips and tricks you'll need to cook oatmeal WITHOUT foaming or burning!
We show you two different methods here: a single-serving cooked pot-in-pot when you're cooking for one (or two) AND a family-sized batch of creamy oatmeal.
This recipe works with an #InstantPot or ANY other brand of electric pressure cooker, including the #NinjaFoodi #Zavor or #PowerPressureCooker.
    Ingredients
    2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
    4 cups water*
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS & TOPPINGS
    1 tablespoon butter, optional
1 tablespoon to 1/2 cup brown sugar, optional (1/4 cup is my preference)
Additional toppings (milk or cream, fruit compotes, fresh or dried fruit, cinnamon, chopped nuts or granola, and your favorite sweetener-brown or white sugar, or maple syrup)

Thank you. My partner doesn’t like oats, so this “meal for one” is perfect 😊

I use a foil sling to lower my pan into my pot. I have a 3 qt pot so I love this smaller size recipe. Since I don't have a dish I use a metal pan with a lid that has holes in it ... part of a double pan set I got for my instant pot. I tried not using a bowl and it scorched so the PIP is the answer for that. Love the two of you cooking together. I lost my mom at 38, I'm 70 now and would love to be cooking with her. Treasure each other.

I eat baked oatmeal almost daily, but these look SO good, I think they are up next. Maybe some diced apples, Craisins, and pecans for the toppings. I love your channel ... y'all are so cute! Thanks for the great recipes that encourage me to get my pressure cooker out and use it!

I highly recommend toasting your oats by sautéing them on low for about 5 mins in the butter first until they smell toasty for the larger batch, then proceed with recipe. You can also toast them without butter and even do a larger amount in the oven and then store until ready to use in recipe.

I usually use the microwave, but think that I will try the instant pot.
I love banana and peanut butter in mine.
With a little swirl of evaporated milk on top.👍🙏

I love making oatmeal in the Instant Pot. I add a minute or two to cook time when I make the organic "sprouted" Rolled Oats that are glyphosate free (Costco). I make a batch for the week.

Hi, we buy the same oats….how do you cook them? Ours do not get as creamy as we would like. TY

@@loo2yoo trying cooking them a little longer or letting them natural pressure release longer.

I make the bigger batch of oatmeal all the time but the other day I got a burn notice and not sure why I didn't change anything to it

The most common reason is you didn't have a good seal and lost a lot of liquid as it was coming to pressure.

Were the oats regular or fast cooking oats?

So we don't use the "Oatmeal" or "Porridge" button on the Instant Pot?

    • @PressureCookingToday
      @PressureCookingToday  Місяць тому +1

Most models don't have an oatmeal or porridge button, so we rarely use the preset buttons. Preset buttons are generally just a recommended time.

Hi, I'm a subscriber to your channel and love your recipes, that being said I have to say sometimes you seem somewhat confused in your presentation.

    • @PressureCookingToday

Thanks for subscribing. It's so nice to hear you love our recipes. Our videos are not scripted so sometimes we don't know what the other is going to say and when and we have to coordinate with the videographer, so there are a lot of moving pieces and we rarely do retakes like network cooking shows.
