You need to show this to Jay Leno.
Well, I wouldn't know how to do that.
@@tonyscarcare5657 write to him. He loves original and unrestored. He loves the big old land yachts.
176,000 miles car is in amazing condition and beautiful. Of course it's one of your cars of course it is 😂. I had a 89 Town car i bought from the limo company i worked for. It was the owners mom's car and was used for corporate pickups. Which meant picking someone up from the airport. I hated driving to the airport still do it's a complete nightmare lol Boston Logan international airport. There is a limo car park but it was always full my luck 🤦 i loved that car 🚗 I'm going to get another one day. My car currently has 160,000 it's a 05 Toyota Corolla i thought that was a lot lol
My dad is 80, and he still keeps the car and truck both very clean and still changes his own oil in both. The Lincoln is usually driven every day, no matter the weather.
Most guys would do a trade in for an extra 3 and a half inches.
🤣😂🤣😂
Thanks Tony. Good to know the process. 👍
You're welcome. Thank you, Mark!
My family gets a discount for Ford motor company automatically
I wish I did.
Great product. True American developing a product investing in this country. Need more like Mr Tony! Thank you
Thank you so much, Sir!
Great video!!! I would really appreciate some guidance on installing center caps on my aluminum spoked wheels. When I got my 89 Lincoln, all of the center caps were in the trunk. I push it in, turn 1/4 turn and they are loose. What does the center bolt fasten to? Thanks Tony - I appreciate any help you could give.
Thank you! I'll see if I can come up with a video for you.
Good video I always loved how Ford counter balanced the decklid to open fully when released. I love the soft close power pull down.
Thanks, man! Yeah, the deck lid flies open fast on these Town Cars. More so than any other cars I've had.
@@tonyscarcare5657 Tony I forgot to mention I have the same shirt from The Dearborn plant!
Lol. I have three of those shirts. I bought all of them at the museum store. I almost bought another one in June! 🤣 But one of them still has the sticker on it. Never been worn.
Hi again Tony, what a simpel job for a change i like it. I would like to have one of this for my BMW E39 from the year 2000, but I supos they did not have this on my model. And her in Sweden we hav a wether that is very warm to day so i will not go out in the sun right now.👍👍
Thank you! I am really surprised that your car doesn't have this option.
This just happened to my 89 town car! First the glove box then the key pad. Thanks for the video.
You're welcome. This is the first time I've ever seen one quit working.
Thanks for the reminder lesson on the trunk actuator Tony. Till next time…
You're welcome. Thank you, Michael!
Another Cadillac wannabe
I have to disagree with you on the tilt wheel. I prefer the style GM has used for decades which most manufacturers do where the whole column tilts. With just the wheel tilting you get a weird angle IMO. What year did you buy this car? It’s cool they still use it as their daily driver!
@@tyler2610 I honestly don't remember what year I bought it. After they got it from me, they sold it to my uncle, then he never drove it, and they bought it back from him.
At least your Dads not having you put fender skirts on that Lincoln. Hahaha
🤣😂🤣😂
Absolutely amazing Mr. Tony - how do you figure all this out. Special thanks to you for helping out your mom & dad. What a blessing you are. Roseann & Dan
Thanks, D & R! I didn't have any money when I started driving all of these cars, so it was figure it out myself or do without.
Great Video Mr Tony - We love the Detroit shirt. We also love your parents. They are very proud of you as when we met your dad at the Motor Muster he said you were smart and intelligent. We agree as we watch as how you seem to fix everything on these cars. It is great you take such good care of them with this fix and the automatic temperature control. Take good care and looking forward to the next video. Roseann & Dan
Thanks, guys! I'm planning to be at The Old Car Festival.
Thanks for the diy video. Very helpful for future reference. Your the best! Looks like you might need big fat lemonade when you're done. Its hof here too.
Thank you! Yeah, it's been terrible hot out here. It's even too hot to just sit on a mower.
Every time I see that car, I like it more, Hard to believe it’s 35 years old, still just as beautiful and useful/Functional as it was when it was new, perhaps I’m wrong, I doubt any car built today it will be around 35 years from now?
I agree, Dave. All of the computers will crash in the new vehicles.
Dam, that is nice. I would love to drive that around here in New Zealand. It would certainly turn a lot of heads, get a lot of attention.
I would say so!
they used a whiter than white leather dye in this era at Fordland. I like white dashboards and I don't know why.
Yep! I think it is called Oxford White/Currant Red, and the outside is Arctic White.
I know when my parents tell me something is broken, 9 times out of 10 when i try the same senerio - it works for me just fine 🤣🤣. So they might be NUTS in that regards. But i also work in Information Technology so that doesn't mesh real well with older people either. Lol. Great video Tony.
🤣😂🤣😂 Yeah, I actually have witnessed this one not working. I don't think they'll have any more trouble out of it.
Tony, I only had one car with a power trunk release (91 Grand Marquis) and most of the time I forgot it had that feature. 😉
🤣😂🤣😂 A lot of people never knew they had it. Just like the Ford tilt columns. Lol
@@tonyscarcare5657 I was probably too mesmerized by the new-to-me power windows, locks and cruise control to notice the button in the glove compartment. Compounding the problem was the fact my ownership was at least a decade too late to experience full service supermarkets where they would load your purchases into the car. 😁
Those were better days!
Those 9F715's did get dirty easily cuz of the PCV oil residue. Id take the motor part of it off and put the body in the carb cleaner tank. Worked alright back in the day. Just don't put any sealing parts in the tank. 3.0 L Taurus of the day were really bad for gumming those up. Rolling idle that many unknowledgeable techs would throw EEC IV processors at it. Didn't help.
I've only had to clean this one twice in 176k miles. That's not bad. My 86 F150s have been way more often.
Not digging the Cragars and oversized tires on the Colony Park.
Got a spare one the shelf for my 88 vic.
Beautiful mid century modern design! Classy car!
Thank you for watching and commenting. Much appreciated!
Awesome video Tony, glad to see your back to making repair videos. Keep them coming. Would you know where I could find one for a 77 mercury marquis? I've been having the same issue with my ac in my 77. Thought it might have been the hvac relay but that didn't fix it.
Thank you so much! I don't know right off where to find one, but I assume they are the same one used in the Lincolns, so it shouldn't be hard to find. It I ever start parting out the two I have, they may be good.
My vent roof is stuck open, I tried calibrating it but sunroo won't shut
I have this video. Check it out. You may have broken plastic stuck in the way. Click here. 👇 ua-cam.com/video/4XkWr1g3Rqc/v-deo.html
I love that starter sound too! Just that smooth precise sound and the 5.0 coming to life. I bought a1987 Grand Marquis, brand new. A two door. I absolutely LOVED that car. I remember picking it up at the Lincoln-Mercury dealer. The interior was palatial. The blue. velour seats and that new car smell. It was intoxicating. Lol. It was like sitting in a Rolls Royce! I put 215,000 miles on it and it could have easily gone to 300k but I traded it in for a ‘93 Cougar with the 5.0.Unfortunately, Ford has lost it’s way in the QC department. I’ve been hardcore Ford since my first Chevy and the quality between those. ‘80s full sized Fords and the Fords of today is night and day.
I agree! 86-91 Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln cars were by far some of the best built and most dependable cars ever made.
Get rid of the fender skirts!
How about you watch this video here! 👇 ua-cam.com/video/5yOehXkMHMc/v-deo.htmlsi=gBb_7nAo0iihaRZ-
Great educational video Tony
Thank you very much!
Do you have to drop the motor to remove the sunroof?
You do if the cables aren't even. I actually rebuilt one of these last week. I'll do a video next time. It's really not that bad. Don't take the motor bolts all the way out. Only loosen them enough to drop the motor down enough to clear the cables. Then you can move each one by hand to get them back in time with each other. Then, just tighten the motor bolts. You don't have to find the bolt holes. The headliner is stuck up with magnets, and it's the motor on the driver side. The other motor is for the shade.
Great video Tony, thank you....
You're welcome. Thank you!
WOW.
I know!
UNBELIEVABLE
It really is.
MICHELINS IS THE ONLY TIRE THAT GOES ON A LINCOLN PERIOD
ABD DONT EVER USE ARMAOL ON ANYTHING PERIOD BABY OIL IS THE BEST THING
I’d drive it from coast to coast
Me, too!
When did they change the back up lites there was one big one in the center correct from 85 to 1987 ?
88-89.
I live in GA and it would be parked in my garage
I really like this town car you wanna sell it ?
No, I do not. Thanks!
Thanks! Yeah the sun roof can be a pain when it's not working. But if you're a cigar enthusiast like I am it's pretty awesome! Mines doing the same thing. The other night it wouldn't close. Now it won't open and it's catching in the drivers corner like this one was.
I finally rebuilt one of these. I will do a video next time.
Hi again Tony, no you do not hav to bee sorry we can see what you are doing fine. And as usual i like your videos a lot.👍👍
Thank you once again, Sir! Always appreciated.
Tony, Putting aside air conditioning issues for a moment, you have reminded me how much I miss car interiors that are not black or gray. Can anyone remember the last time someone made a car with a red dash or steering wheel?
I certainly can't think of the last one I saw with anything other than Grey, Tan, or Black. It really is sad.

You're welcome. Thank you!
I like all your videos !!!
Thank you very much!
Great work Tony 😊 Nice Town Car, looks very well kept
Thank you very much! It gets driven almost every day but is definitely maintained.
Another great video Tony. This is going to be helpful when I start working on the hvac system in my 1981 Marquis Brougham. It has the optional Automatic Temperature Control system and currently only blows warm air through the defrost vents. In all of my years of working on these cars, I have never had to work on hvac other than recharging systems. Surely the components are the same and locations similar to the Town Car. Thanks for the confidence boost, your timing is always impeccable!
You're welcome, and thank you, Michael! I sure would think it would be the same, and it certainly sounds like a good place for you to start.
Take it easy on yourself the videos on greenfield village are always interesting by the way thanks for the video on how to replace the atc after all I found a matching blue dash pad for my 88 tc in the junkyard with no cracks! So you video showed me what entails taking it off
Thank you for watching and commenting. Much appreciated!
Nice but that Red interior that is awful
