12-Hour Layover in Panama City | See the Panama Canal & Old City in One Day
I love long layovers and used them to get a taste of Lisbon, Iceland, and now Panama (and unsuccessfully Guangzhou, China). Copa Airlines offers a stopover program, so I decided to check it out.
I flew from Medellín to Montevideo with an intentional 12-hour stopover in Panama City to get out and see the country, so you don't have to.
Is this enough time to properly see Panama? No. But it can be fun to pop in and see a new place.
Without doing much research, I jumped out into Panama City with two goals: see the Panama Canal and visit Casco Viejo, the old part of the city.
Though Panama City has a decent transit system, I opted to take Ubers around in order to save on time and potential hiccups in making my way to and from the airport.
This video is dedicated to the incredibly friendly driver I met, Juan Carlos, who I wholeheartedly recommend if you find yourself in Panama. His contact information is:

Staying in a Pod Hotel in Japan
Переглядів 1263 місяці тому
Today we're going to see what it's like to stay in a pod (or capsule) hotel in Kyoto, Japan. It's always been my dream to stay in one in their country of origin, and finally I had my chance. But what is a pod hotel? Pod hotels, also known as capsule hotels, originated in Japan in the late 1970s to provide affordable and convenient accommodations for salarymen who missed the last train home. The...
Drinking the World's Freshest Coffee | Spending A Day in a Traditional Colombian Household

Join me as I spend a day on at a historic Colombian finca drinking coffee grown in the backyard and making arepas, traditional Colombian corn flatbreads. Just outside of Medellín, this home was once surrounded by acres of jungle and farmland, but today is an oasis among hyperurbanization. The home, in the state that you see it today, is over 100 years old, but the history of the property itself...

This is a segment of a larger video about Paris Christmas markets that you can see...

The pizza is sad,😢super thick soggy pizza crust, chicken bake is slimy and bland; gross. They always squeeze the buns when wrapping the hotdogs and their mustard doesn’t pair well with hotdogs. The people who work at the food court are pretty nice but the system is efficient, hence chaotic. My least favorites are the cashiers who are often rude and always talk to each other instead of providing friendly customer service. that’s France 🇫🇷🤣get used to it or get out . C’est la vie!😂 FYI: Brooklyn NY Costco has the best pizza. Costco in Asia has delicious bulbogi bake and pretty much everything is great 👍

I tried it in PEK, when I was travelling from Pakistan to Beijing to US with a 90 hour stay in PEK. I was using my American passport but the ground staff manager admitted that while yes, I was technically eligible for the 144 hour transit, I was entering from Pakistan so we have a high risk of being deported out of the country and that I should have done it the other way around when I was coming from US and travelling onward to Pakistan. Thankfully after alot of insisting, they agreed to rebook us at no charge but at first they were charging us, and that we had to go to the ISB city office to make the change the following day. I spoke with the airline manager at LAX later and his words, "They did a very Chinese thing to you" and admitted that the rules can change with little notice.

This reminds me of a similar experience that I had a few years ago with China Southern at the same airport on my way to Thailand. I actually had a layover of 16 hours so I did get the visa exemption, but I was in the wrong immigration line waiting for what felt like years (2 hours actually), when the line I was supposed to be in was literally empty. Silly me :) But anyway, great video!

The Chicko bag is a tradition of the Chicko Roll experience. They were developed so they could be held with one hand while at the football and the bag stops from burning your hands. They are sold takeaway stores and service station. They they are best served with lots of salt. A lot of first timers to the Chicko tend to think they are getting a chicken roll and are quite confused and sometimes disappointed when they try it. The one handed convenience of them makes for a great snack while driving.

I had 14 hours layover in Shenzhen, had a booking for hotel that was paid, and I was also denied. They did not give any reason. No one speaks English there and they just used translator in their own mobile to say ‘24-hours visa not available’. That was it. 14-hours wait at the gate… They should clarify this much better because I purposefully chose longer layover to be able to see new place and they just ruined my journey and wasted my time. I now avoid any transfers through China, next time they might as well not let me transfer to my flight 😅

In short he is telling people there is no grace or leeway in china, a visitor coming so far could be put into a great deal of discomfort because of a few mins, its always good to know which cultures or countries will offer common grace and those that wont, for instance if i am in the same situation, would make sure the layover is at least 15 hours as any delay in flight or immigration or you failing to reach the desk by at least 1 min could stop entry. its very important to know this

@@popinjay3000 Grace? If you go to the movies late by 10 minutes, the movie in the theatre still starts on time. They do not make 300 people wait for you. Example 2: when you arrive late by 10 mins at your boarding gate and the gate door is fully closed. The airplane is pulling out already. They will not have grace to stop and let you get on the plane. I know many people live life always expecting kindness and charity but late is late. Be early!!! Be 2~3 hours early!

@@tintintravelers exactly so it’s important to know where it can and won’t be applied, I recently went to turkey and had a similar experience, for them they acted in a way where I was an individual, that leeway doesn’t always necessarily hurt a business model. In other circumstances the intransigence is cultural, then it’s up to the consumer to engage or not. For instance I was looking at a flight to Bangkok where a Chinese airline stops here but it’s a 13 hour transit, enough time but I won’t risk it, even though flights is cheaper than the gulf air ticket. This review helped in that decision

I had 16 hour layover in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, once. Believe me, it was much worse than what you got in China - no fancy lounges, limited food options, disgusting toilets. On the other hand, there were some soft seats to sleep on and local staff was very friendly. Not the end of the world. Just in case, take a good book - it will help you kill time.

you're cousin is charming I don't think I would ever buy Dunkin' in a box at some place other than Dunkin' - guessing there's a freshness issue It looked basically the same, although perhaps a little smaller - prices a mix of some higher, some lower, but probably a wash Have never waited in a line like that at Costco US - didn't see any self checkout lines, maybe that contributes? Not offering a free refill à l’américaine is one thing ... but enlisting a machine to cut you off mid pour seems a bit rude!! haha! same strip search on the way out ... they really think their customer base are a bunch of shoplifters, don''t they?

Fun fact- The samples that are provided is all contracted out to 1 company call CDS. Club Demonstration Services. As a former manager of CDS, I worked at a British Columbia, Canada Costco location. Every Costco in the world uses CDS services. They are NOT Costco employees. 😁When I left the company in March 2020, we were in 8 or 9 countries with France being the newest one while I was there. ( Might have expanded more after, I don’t know) Another fun fact: in Canada only, these demo services were provided by a fully Canadian, all female run company. PWD. Professional Warehouse Demonstrations. That’s who I started with. Costco decided to not renew their contract after 25 years in 2016. They wanted consistency for all their warehouses. CDS hired anyone from PWD as a lateral transfer at the warehouse level. Gave everybody a raise. PWD closed up shop as Costco was their only customer. We had a good 25 yr run. Fun learning a whole new system as manager. 5 days of intense training, then to explain to assistant manager and staff. Aug 1, 2017 we started the day as CDS Canada. We were informed April 15, 2017 of the change. 4 months notice 😳

I am an American who lives near Stuttgart Germany and last April (2023), I decided to rent a car so that I could make the 5.5hour one-way drive to the exact same Costco you went to in Pontault-Coumbalt. I really liked the experience, but I had to polish up my French in order to order "Poulet avec Frites" at the food counter. I ended up spending €700 worth of stuff that I hauled back to Germany. I plan another visit this April. While there, I also visited a Chinese restaurant called "Let Petite Bao" in the 2nd Arrondissement of Paris where they serve up Xiao Long Bao with sliced truffles. I also visited Monnaie de Paris on the south bank of the Seine, but dropped way more Euros there than at Costco. :-D

Please notify me when you want another French Costco run, I'm happy to do it for you. OMG I just saw the KETO crackers that I LOVE LOVE LOVE. They are so delicious but COSTCO here stopped carrying them because it says 4 grams carbs on the front of the bag and then go to the nutritional breakdown on the back of the bag and it's 7 grams carbs. People complained and COSTCO pulled them. They are REALLY expensive at other stores so I had to stop eating them. Another reason to go back to France. Its' been 7 years and I love France. Interesting to see Breville. In London it's Sage like in Australia so would have thought France would be the same. I was surprised there was not more bottles water or maybe it wasn't shown. When going to the stores in Paris, like Monoprix, Franprix, and others, there is usually a huge section devoted to various kinds of bottled water.
