- Ever wanted to explore Costco in France but couldn't go? My mom did, so I made this video for her. But maybe you're just as weird and want to see it too. Look no further because I went to French Costco so you don't have to.
We'll look at prices, explore sales tax, see local specialties, and try out the food court just to see what's the same and different between Costco in the US and France.
Note that this is not the most comprehensive tour of Costco, as it is a huge store, but rather a quick snapshot to highlight what distinguishes the French market.
Special thanks to my French cousin, Céline, for driving me an hour away to the nearest Parisian Costco.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to travel to Costco for us, as you say, so we dont have to!!! Ignore the negative reviews. It's clear that you're learning, and I'm sure each and every future video will be better and better. Courage, mon ami!!! Salutations de Dublin, Irlande, là où Costco n'existe pas. 😊😊
Please slow the camera swing when scanning through the aisles. Your content would be more enjoyable without getting dizzy.
Thanks for the feedback, I’ll try to improve that on the next one
I am an American who lives near Stuttgart Germany and last April (2023), I decided to rent a car so that I could make the 5.5hour one-way drive to the exact same Costco you went to in Pontault-Coumbalt. I really liked the experience, but I had to polish up my French in order to order "Poulet avec Frites" at the food counter. I ended up spending €700 worth of stuff that I hauled back to Germany. I plan another visit this April.
While there, I also visited a Chinese restaurant called "Let Petite Bao" in the 2nd Arrondissement of Paris where they serve up Xiao Long Bao with sliced truffles. I also visited Monnaie de Paris on the south bank of the Seine, but dropped way more Euros there than at Costco. :-D
€700 worth of stuff ... you bought the Mickey Mouse!
hi we served you at petit bao, i think you tipped me in dollars and you showed me a dollar bill of bernie sanders, was it you?
@tomzim992 I don't own any memorabilia of Bernie Sanders, but I do remember my server being from the South of France. I will be back in June (yes, i know i said April, but I'm waiting for my fiancée to visit me then), so maybe I can tip you in USD then? 🙂
Can you tell me if they have the big bottles of Franks Red Hot or Tabasco sauce? I live in Karlsruhe and tend to drive to London in order to go to Costco, however i think next time it will be Paris as its a "shorter" journey...
@MrDennis170 I don't recall if the Paris one had the large bottles, but I have been to the Costco near Heathrow Airport before. Also, I know that Edeka sometimes has Franks Red Hots and Tabasco in the normal sized bottles.
VERY INTERESTING
ESPECIALLY WHEN I SAW THE BOXED
DUNKIN DONUTS
I’m pleasantly surprised that Costco is in France 😮
I know, right! I didn’t think the French would allow such a huge American superstore like Costco…but you learn something new everyday! 😅
Very cool video! As a Costco fan and lover of France this was a treat!
I enjoyed this video very much. Thanks.
Fascinating, thanks for your efforts. Here in Australia the chickens are US$4.53 including tax.
Great video, thank you .
Great reality on the ground video, but slowing down the camera on the price tags let viewers see without the blur for future videos.Truth be told superstores or in French hypermarches have been around since the 1970's pre dating Walmart's & Costco's supercenters in the U.S. & Canada. Though French regulations do not allow hypermarches like Costco in large cities because prices are much lower than retail stores in the cities so driving an hour or more is required.
Thanks for the feedback!
that's the reason it was so far from Paris? unbelievable
Prices seem mostly comparable to US. The muffins are a bargain at 9 euro for a dozen. I think it’s $12 at my Costco. Sure beats Paneras $4+ each!
I didn't know that Costco had already added the taxes into the price. Thanks for sharing.
#RFMvids
It’s the same way in any store over there. The price you see is what you pay
@@amuni.travel It's kinda an Europe thing though. IIRC the UK does the same. VAT was baked into the shelf price.
OMG. I want to shop at this Costco just for the cheeses.
🧐 I was expecting a more fun video. Agree with the others, it was too shaky. You past everything too fast and did Not show-explain the items, looking for what is different there and to compare specific item that you find on both countries on price; in general compare how expensive is the life there and their different food.
Yes, you're newbie that's why I took the time to give you a feedback with a good intention; hope it helps you on your new channel, good luck!!
🇫🇷👍🏼
Thanks for the feedback! Hopefully the next Costco visit will be better
I wanted to know if they had Hawaian rolls in the French Costco? If yes, I'm signing up!
♥️♥️♥️
Hello ...I enjoyed your video. Let us know if there are conditon for entrance in the store ,I heard that u can't use a eu visa card..etc please let us know
What day of the week did you go to store? It doesn't look busy at all like the United states. The busiest Costco that I was at was the one in honolulu,hi (look like black Friday xmas season, people were on top of each other)
It’s pretty far not too many people know about it I think. Costco in the US are in the middle of the towns usually
New subbie, you're from Rochester!
Location of the two Costco around Paris might come from market studies and local population. Suburbs up North are more poor with migrants and more insecurity. For Paris, they could have one more on the West side, like Maison Laffite. And one in the Cote d’Azur would be nice too. Aix en Provence maybe.
The American Fanta also has food colouring that is not permitted in Europe
4:52 creepily similar down to that light up table for the Intel Evo laptops. If you didn't say this was France I'd have no idea aside from everything being in French and Euros.
Can someone tell me if they have Franks red hot or Tabasco in Paris Costco? Also what are the prices like? In the Uk i ended up paying 4,79 GBP per bottle of Tabasco... Would appriciate if someone can get back to me
The prices seem much higher in France on many items but it includes the tax, so after America charges the tax on each item that may make the American Costco more expensive 😢
How does the French Costco bakery croissants compare to French bakery croissants?
any croissant in a plastic container is a fail - doesn't matter which country
@@Marcel_Audubon thanks, just that I will probably never get a French bakery croissant in the us, so ya know.
you're cousin is charming
I don't think I would ever buy Dunkin' in a box at some place other than Dunkin' - guessing there's a freshness issue
It looked basically the same, although perhaps a little smaller - prices a mix of some higher, some lower, but probably a wash
Have never waited in a line like that at Costco US - didn't see any self checkout lines, maybe that contributes?
Not offering a free refill à l’américaine is one thing ... but enlisting a machine to cut you off mid pour seems a bit rude!! haha!
same strip search on the way out ... they really think their customer base are a bunch of shoplifters, don''t they?
Cheetos are different because they don’t allow the crap in the food in Europe. All the stuff that should be banned in the US.
chicken bake its the same size in us , in florida , no fries
Lol how come most foreigners living in France keep raving about bout Costco (in their mother tongues) but not Intermarché, Carrefour, Auchan, some French department stores, you name it? 😮😮😮
Je suis tout à fait d'accord. Les super et hypermarchés français sont vâchement superieurs à Costco.
I was disappointed to not see any Bonne Maman products.
Tax isn't listed seperately because no one wants to be reminded of how much tax they're paying.
costco france is a lot more expensive then the usa crazy
Same in Canada… almost
I am approaching the 15 minute mark in the video and am sad we couldn't see the food court. I was wondering if the items offered were different.
Edit: Ahh, you had it at the end.
Just gotta get over that 15 minute mark 😉
Goods tax is 20%!!!??? That's horrible. 😢😢😢
The Fanta is so much better in Europe, I hate the one here.
I enjoyed the video, but you were going way too fast. It was impossible to see items in many places because of the speed. 😊. Eek, cartilage and bone in the food?! I know culture is different but I barely eat chicken here because it’s a little gross to me. Cartilage and bone in a sandwich is a definite no for me. 😀
Thanks for the feedback, the next one will have a focus on specific item prices
what the heck , grilled chicken is cheaper than spain!
The food is better priced in the markets with better quality
Eggs not refrigerated? Is this like Europe's shelf-stable milk?
Eggs are naturally shelf-stable. To clean eggs, in the US and Canada, they spray them with a jet of water that removes a natural protective outer coating, making them more susceptible to warm temperatures. In Europe (and most of the world) they don’t use this method, allowing you to keep eggs fresh at room temp
Typical American. Only Dunkin Donuts from Costco France!!! France!
You’re going so fast, can’t hardly see the products and definitely not the prices
I like American Fanta better - it's not trying to be anything it's not: a copy of Orange Nehi
French Fanta seems like low rent orange juice. Give me either real orange juice, or real pop, nothing in the middle!
was interested but can't watch, your filming was just awful.
It’ll be better in the future
Try and liven up your videos..Very boring
But how fun is Costco?
@@anafiebiger Costco is somewhat fun but I try and get in and out very quickly.
@@user-eg8hd6wi2d Well I think he makes a good comparison with other costco and makes it look interesting, I think he explains it well from his point of view.
Not necessary to be so blunt! It's a learning curve. Personally I enjoyed the video as we don't have (or are ever likely to have) Costco in Ireland. We're just too small!
I'm always blunt. More honest that way!
@@MrGearoid65
Wow, this was depressing. Truly the end of France. As an American, I apologize.
I'll take the US'S lower taxes and less government involvement in my life.
Close your mouth when you eat.
This guy goes out of his way to record a video for all to watch, you watch the video and all you have to say is that? Rude!
Would really appreciate if you can have a consistent delivery of your voice volume. It is utterly irritating your voice over is not consistent with the volume And your footage volume is extremely loud and your voice is constantly barrier underneath the environnoise. I have to give up watching your video because everyone is annoyed as heck but your low volume voice. Your first two words sounded super loud than the rest of the words are terrible low. No one can understand what you are saying. Super annoying.
I had no trouble understanding the speech
