When your hair is stiff. When it feels like you can’t put a comb in it. Don’t! Wet your hair with warm water to open the cuticle and some moisturizing conditioner. MAKE SURE IT’S MOISTURIZING. A conditioner that works well with your hair type. You need to know the polarity of your hair to find the conditioner that works well with your hair type, which can be found on you tube. After you’ve messaged the conditioner in your hair from root to tip. Put on a CLEAR shower cap to hold the moisture in your hair and wait a few minutes before washing out. Check your hair. It should be balanced now if not wait a few minutes more before washing the conditioner out. As a beautician I have gone through the same turmoils of hair problems. Combing my hair that feels like it’s locked up for good. I have come to find out that that’s what happens when you have an overload of protein. The only way to combat it is by using moisturizer and warm water. The same with if using a lot of moisturizing shampoos and conditioners the hair doesn’t want to curl. It’s soft but won’t hold a curl. Protein is needed. There are a lot of black women on hair journeys on you tube. Learn how to take care of your hair. I stopped with relaxers. The products are not made by US, but the products are killing US. Make it make sense Sis.😊GO NATURAL. Put your hair in a ponytail and forget about it.😊

You need curl activator and moisturizer. This is the only way the Jheri Curl will work. You shouldn’t wash your hair twice a week. This will dry it out. They changed the name of the style but the process and how to take care of it hasn’t changed. If these stylist are giving these hair styles they need to tell people how to properly take care of them. If not you will end up with a lot of bald headed people out here. And please don’t try to get a relaxer after you get a Jheri curl. You will for sure be bald…. Smh.. get some curl activator and moisturizer for your head…

Beautiful young lady and absolutely you do whatever you want with your hair, this Gina Curl is a extremely expensive waste and we can see the damage from our screens so there's no way you don't. Stop going to this woman and get your hair hydrated properly by someone who truly understands your texture and what chemicals do to our hair..you process should've looked silkier and easier to manage..add nourishing products and use a diffuser .. ANY BLACK WOMEN WATCHING DO NOT DO THIS.. try a moisturizing jellies and a hydrating cream.. this process may be good for other ethnicities but it isn't for you.. good luck and God Bless

Hii, I have 4b/4c hair and i've been thinking about getting a perm for a generally new experience. But i'm sorta scared if this will damage my hair afterwards become of the relaxer and the chemicals used. If this does damage ur hair, if u can please leave some tips on how to keep it hydrated xx

You have to use activator when I had a curl it never matted and water do not go in curl and conditioner don’t either all the time just a lil activator lord yall make this so hard it’s just a Jheri curl with a different name. Cantù do not go in no Jheri or Gina curl and you don’t wash no dam curl use a pick and activator that’s all

Okay. It's a jheri curl. Someone changed the name to Gina curl. To get any other service like a relaxer the will have to.grow out or cut off. You are not natural anymore as well as no more silkpress. With this service you will not the products for a jheri curl to keep your hair on your head. It need to stay moisturize. Your new growth will be a different texture coming in and the same process is repeated over and over. Depending on how fast your hair grows

I had a Jheri Curl when I was like 9 or 10 . I never had any of these issues. I was relaxed for years. I went natural about 10 years ago. I hope your journey gets better.

The chemical turns the hair into mush in order to form a new curl. The hair is very different after a perm. The hair turns mushy and fragile.

OMG! Gina was my stylist for 6 years when I lived in CT. When you said Hairs Talent, it clicked!

I have this hair type naturally and it’s a living hell smh, a living hell smh idk why anyone would want to even get this treatment: it LOOKS nice sometimes to people but boy oh boy once you see the reality. Our hair hates heat, & doesn’t blow dry or flat iron thick & full like other natural hair. We get mistaken for having a Jerry curl but in reality our hair almost is never touchable. It needs moisture to not get tangled & matted.

I’m a licensed Cosmetologist. The products that your really suppose to use after a curly hair products should be professional products recommended by your stylist. Your stylist can get products for you because he/she should have a license. I recommend the Wave Nouveau set. But I’m not sure if it’s compatible with the curly perm you have .. that’s something you would have to ask your stylist that gave you the curly perm.

Can you flat iron it ?

I ended up getting the Gina curl on 2 occasions and my hair was shredding and breaking off like I’ve never seen it before on my last retouch. Never straightened my hair and washed it 2 times a week. Thought it would help for easier hair maintenance but ended up with a big chop and starting over. If it’s working for her that’s amazing. But ladies as you come across other folks that do the Gina curl you will not hear about constant up dates to the process after maybe 2 years. As a black woman let’s not let these folks play with your hair. I took a chance and my choice was horrible. On a good note, I’m embracing the short hair cut and excited for the new hair journey.

Since they're double processing your hair, you might want to start using a half and half blend of the Nairobi Nair-plex keratin protein treatment and the nairobi prota-sil reconstructor & strengthening treatment to help rebuild the bonds in your hair every two or three weeks, followed by a good deep conditioner under the dryer for 30 minutes like the melanin hair care one. That's why all that hair came out. Choosing a style that requires controlled damage takes a lot more effort. That's why I don't bleach my hair or relax it anymore.

I'm so confused. I'm just hearing of these "Gina curl" perms. I'm a 80's baby, and back in my day they were called Jheri curl perms. A few of my relatives had them. They were always wet and juicy! Lol... Did they just change the name of the Jheri curl or what??? Back in the day NOBODY'S curl was dry. This is new. People used to make fun of the curls talking bout the drip drip 💧💧😂🤷🏾‍♀ Now they dry...WTF 🤔🤦🏾‍♀

People get perms because they say their natural hair is harder when the reality is it’s easier because any perm dye or alteration requires just as much and even more consistency then if u stayed in the natural state. Do what works for you but it sucks when you realize the before was better. I had to start over 4x. And decided to just do twist when I’m lazy and when I’m not so a nice flexi rod set. I just wash with mielle shampoo and spray after with Rosmary and water twice a week or whenever in the week I feel like it, I don’t even condition after just apply my tgin with some Vaseline and call it a day, . I do a deep condition with any food item I find in my pantry once a mon th or so. I’ve been so simple and it fits my lifestyle. I have high porosity hair and at 15” if that helps anyone. Lastly I pray a lot over my crown. It brings beauty to my face and I’m so thankful for it
