Join me on a fantastic 7 mile walk around two beautiful reservoirs, Entwistle and Wayoh reservoirs, located in Edgworth, Lancashire.
This is a relatively flat, well marked route with wide gravel paths for the most part - other than a few steps and narrow trails around the Wayoh section.
There's plenty to see on this walk, from the pretty scenery around Entwistle, to the wild and untamed landscape surrounding Wayoh. I'd recommend walking around both reservoirs if you've got the time.
I'd argue this is the best reservoir walk in Lancashire - but I'm open to a debate (in the comments) haha!
Enjoy this short walk film, and if you have any feedback for me, do let me know in the comments below.

Thanks Tom. We were inspired by the video to try this walk. Beautiful summer day and a really enjoyable and varied walk
Cromwells bridge.
You should just shoot the side of my terrace - it looks like a waterfall made of blooms, a flowerfall, perhaps?
sounds amazing! 👌
Factoid; Vimto was invented by a guy from Blackburn in 1908
no way?! Class fact that!
In the Dictionary under Wonderful, There was a link to this...xx
🥹🙏🏻 Thanks!
Thanks for giving us such a great video. Loved your drone footage of the viaduct. ❤
Ah cheers Del! It's a wonderful spot is this, perfect for drone filming.
I live nearby , I was once accused of not being local because I wasn’t born there ! I’ve lived in Morecambe and WARTON since 1952 . I bet I’ve been up Arnside Knott more times than some of the locals …….anyway , everything is Ok , it’s lovely to be living round the shores of Morecambe Bay ! cheers 😊
haha that's a funny story! You're certainly local (enough 😉) for me David! What a lovely place to go walking on a regular basis. Thanks for sharing! Tom
All I can say you’ll be glad you’re not here at the moment as it’s cold, windy and rainy and has been for the last two weeks! I was sat on the beach in my hiking jacket and fleece 😂 and gutted I didn’t bring my waterproof walking pants 😵💫… currently sat watching a pea souper over the sea 🌊 ☁️ 😂 I feel for those camping as it’s supposed to be summer!
🤣 oh dear!! Just bonkers weather for July isnt it?! Hearing a lot of 'geo-engineering' chatter at the minute 🤷🏻♂️ surely we can't minipulate the weather?! 🤯 Either way, hoping for some sunshine soon.
I love your walks. Done this one a good few times now. As an extension you can throw in the Jumbles reservoir and even further extend it by taking in Cheetham Close and Affetside for a great ten miler! You got far better weather than me.
Yes, I believe Jumbles makes it an even better walk! Thanks for the feedback too :) I do try and film on dry days when we finally get them haha!
Is there a trig point at the top ??
There is one up at Fairsnape Fell, yes. There's no trig at Parlick, but there is something planted in the ground up there (featured in this video) to mark it's highest point 🤷🏻♂️
Nice one.
Just 8 mile from my home ♥️♥️
Wycoller
I am going to this tomorrow
I know this is Wycoller. I was there only a few days ago. The ruined hall was supposed to be the setting for Mr Rochester's home in Jane Eyre.
And there are older bridges at Wycoller, a wonderful wig dryer/storer, vaccary walls and other hidden history. Magical place, as it also was to the Brontë sisters. One of the few places that has a spiritual affect on me. From a Scotsman
Looks absolutely lovely. Your video is very restful, much more in keeping with what i hope the area is like, unlike some others if you search for 'Silverdale' with ominous music! Can't wait to visit next month (08/24).
Hi! What kind feedback, thanks! I hope to revisit soon myself, capture more walks in the area. Have a look at my Arnside film as well, its literally minutes from Eaves Wood, Silverdale, with public footpaths taking you up Arnside Knott from where you're likely based. ua-cam.com/video/n5CryRGe7qg/v-deo.htmlsi=J0hIxskMGsZT3ZuZ
Hi Tom, another brilliant video, thank you so much. This was my local walk with my two young sons and my dog, but since moving to Chorley I haven’t done it for ages so will get there with my dogs and camera asap 😊
Alreet Keith, thanks, appreciate the support! Yes got to get yourself there soon :) enjoy.
First time watching. Not bad, not bad at all - from a Yorkshire Lad...
cheers Paul! Appreciate the feedback. The walks a corker, hopefully been able to capture the experience 🙏🏻
Never done that one pal, but I am new to the channel. Nicky Nook is one of my local faves and around Grizedale Reservoir and another face is the trusty Pendle Hill via Ogden Clough
Alreet! Nicky Nook was my local for a few years, such a lovely walk for me and the dog. Thanks for stopping by! Tom
Have you done this walk around these two reservoirs before? Which is your favourite??
A few times. I love adding the jumbles reservoir on as well and do all 3 :)
@@cfrocker7252oh really?! I did consider adding Jumbles on. Just need to test out the route first before recommending 😅
@cyclepreneur4454 it's a brilliant walk, it's quite easy to get from Wayoh. Definitely worth it :)
I park on the jumbles carpark and do all 3 of the reservoir’s , it’s a great walk 👍great video
Will be sure to try this! Thanks :)
I live round the corner.. and i went there for the first time for an A level geog course.. i fell in love with this place.. just something about the place and the smell of burning coal in the air.. love it
Hi Tom which is the shorter route if I need to choose one of them you mentioned please m heading today thank you
Wycoller
The arch on the left looks worryingly unstable.
I’m in Baxenden, who wants to go grab a coffee 🌚
I live near thousands of them in my local woods ..beautiful ❤
How magical!
Nice channel 👍 ❤ I'm a Lancashire lass ❤
🙏🏻🥰
Ah YES!!
Wow! Thanks so much for putting together this video. As an international visitor this is just the type of information I need. What a great video!
🙏🏻 thanks Del! I know its a bit late for 2024 bluebell season, but the information is out there now, for future years :)
tockholes woods is another and sunnyhurst woods also
great suggestions Andrew!
Hi Tom, lovely bluebells and Henry looking gorgeous in his spring jacket! I was in Brinscall woods a few weeks ago and saw this spectacle for myself 😊
oh it was lovely wasnt it! Haha Henry is doing well, he always looks smart in his jacket, although its getting a tad warm for it now.
Hi Tom, maybe not a walk for your channel but have you walked Cuerden Valley- Henry would love it, and a brilliant new cafe there now
know it well, yes :) nice cafe indeed!
I adore bluebells. My absolute favpurite flower. As a child we used to go to a place we called Bluebell Wood, just outside Clitheroe on the way to Barrow.
oh that must be what is now called Spring Wood, no? That's around there. So nice!
ps. also my favourite wildflower ;)
@@LancashireLadsLife I'm not sure it is. I think Spring Wood is in or nearer to Whalley.
I was in Roddlesworth around a month or so ago and it was brimming with Bluebells, unfortunately didn’t many photos, nothing special anyway as I’m not too good at Woodland Photography.
Roddlesworth is fantastic, used to go in there a lot, just not been in for bluebells.
Do you love walking in bluebell season? Where are some of your favourite locations for catching these illusive blue beauties?
Lancashire born its lovely up here. So much countryside to walk in been a while since I've been wycoller
we've got it good up in Lancs!
Can I ask mate, do you use a waterproof backpack? I'm just thinking about your camera gear. I still want to use a normal hiking backpack because I don't want all the camera compartments but wondered what you would use or recommend please?
Alreet, yea I get what you're saying. For me, this backpack has mostly been great but now im carrying a little more gear for longer walks, including camera gear - it's a snug fit! This is the pack regardless, see what you think. amzn.to/4dcR04B To clarify, it's not waterproof but I have a packaway cover for it.
Great review, thank you.
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Beautifully filmed! I loved your 3 part series. Where to next?
Cheers Del! Appreciate the feedback as always :) Hmmm, got a few more local walks / ideas to conker filming over the coming weeks ahead, but hope to venture further afield later in the summer. Got a little one on board at home these days, so it's been all hands on deck of late, walking / editing when I can 🤯🙏🏻 Hope all is well with you over there. Cheers, Tom
HiyaTom, the only place in 50 Years that I have seen an Adder!
ah no way!? would love to see one locally like that. I believe they are about, just a rarity?
The cutest dog in the world - but don’t tell mine!
he's certainly something! ☺️😝 Not so cute when he's barking to get out the front door for his next adventure!
I've got some original footage of this been built which i will upload shortly .
Brilliant Tom, my local patch and like you have done it loads of times in all weathers😊
Appreciate the feedback Keith - nice to have this on your doorstep, used to live near Darwen Tower myself, so was always up there with friends & the dog.
Hi there welcome to my true home of my pendle hill .. this is the place where my true bloodline is originally from and lived before there deaths in 1612..I hope you enjoy my true home pendle ……….🌒🌕🌘
🧙🏻🐦⬛🕸️🕷️
Love your Channel, Love Lancashire (Lancashire Lad Myself) Nicky Nook is my Fav place to hang out !
Alreet Simon! Thanks for the feedback, yes Lancashire has the lot doesn't it :) Glad you're a fan of the channel. Hoping to get out a little more this summer than previous years, although got a lil baby on board these days 🤪 Catch you on the trails perhaps. Tom
@@LancashireLadsLife hope to see your guys in and around 👍😁
What fabulous views Tom. 😊
🙏🏻🙏🏻
I did the 5 Langdale Pikes with my son (7) last year. We went up your descent route, then onto Harrison Stickle, Loft Crag, Pike o Stickle, mist set in so left Thunacarr Knott and headed to Pavey Ark, coming down your ascent route to the Barn. Stunning day out. Great video mate 👍🏻
Wow, that's incredible for aged 7! You guys must be some keen hikers, I do hope to make up on to those tops in the near future. Thanks for sharing, appreciate the feedback on the video too.
@@LancashireLadsLife he’s up to 21 Wainwrights now and absolutely loves it. Did his first at age3- Castle Crag under his own steam 👏🏻. I sent you an email the other day. If you fancy getting out up there one time, it’d be brilliant to meet you. Best regards.
Oh man I loved this so much. This was so relaxing, almost like a visual podcast. Looks like you had a fantastic time and hope Henry doesn’t find it too scary next time! Loved my little cameo ❤️😂 definitely did catch you when you were dipping them toes haha! It truly was a pleasure bumping into you up those hills mate! You are right though, the Lakes cannot be beaten, they’re so beautiful 👌
Yea you caught me red handed with knackered battered feet haha! 3 days of it from zero 'training' will do that to an unfit lad ha. Mate so glad to have met you, I'll be following your journey with wild camping for sure, maybe even have to do one together some day, who knows! Thanks again for the feedback, definitely want to keep practicing and improving my films from the fells. Keep in touch Harry, Cheers! Tom
I’m a local Lancashire lad as well who also loves the Lakes, particularly Langdale, so absolutely loved this. Just one thing - get the coat off Henry, he looks like a girl in it!
haha I can't promise that Keith! His fur starts to matt in all the thick brush on most of our walks bless him. Thanks for the feedback on the film, I'll be heading back to Lancs walks for a little while now :)
Beautiful.
Thanks Christine, this walk was a stunner, so much beauty to capture on camera.
