Today's walk is a short 4.5mile route around Rivington, taking in views from Rivington Pike, passing the Pigeon Tower before descending down through the Japanese Gardens (within Rivington Gardens) on route to the Liverpool Castle replica ruins... a beautiful hidden gem down by Rivington reservoir!
We'd recommend parking on the main road entrance up towards Rivington Barn.
For your coffee stop, we would recommend visiting Great House Barn Tea Room, reasonably priced and it's on route back to the parking area :)
There's also Spring Cottage cafe further up the road, but it's a little smaller and a fancy food menu at that... great for cakes but perhaps not for the typical hiker wanting a proper meal after their walk.
We hope you enjoy our recommended Rivington Pike walk!

We enjoyed filming this one! Have you walked around Rivington before?? Let us know in the comments :)
Thanks for the motivation to get out on a cold soggy day. Spent a weekend on the edge of nature, it was tempting to stay indoors and keep warm, but I am so glad I went out. Great walk!
that's fantastic to hear! glad you enjoyed :) x
Great place, I could spend days looking around these old gardens, nice mix of shot from above and eye level, enjoyed that.
appreciate the feedback, yes it's always lovely to see from above, but got to keep a mix in there like you say :) Pleased you enjoyed! Tom
Lovely place . Nice to see again. Thanks for sharing. ATB 👍🙏☺️
Thanks for the feedback Cath! Yes Rivington is a really nice place to walk :)
@@LancashireLadWalks definitely a lovely place to visit. Been a few times. Your welcome for the feed back. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos 👍🙏😊
Looks completely trashed compared to 10 year ago when I went there a lot
I can imagine it was in much nicer condition 10 years ago! 🙏🏻
Can't believe after years of driving past this I went up earlier this year and was very impressed. Was just expecting a monument and walk but found lots of interesting architecture. Nice video lads 👍
It's quite unique isn't it?! So many pockets of interested old architecture, inspired by different parts of the world. Pleased you enjoyed the Pike!
I did this walk last weekend after 30 years , memorable place indeed .
excellent footage 👏
☺️ aw that's brilliant, hope you enjoyed! It's super busy at weekends, but I suppose it's for good reason... those views from the pike 😍🙏🏻 Thanks for sharing :)
I went for the first time its a brilliant walk and the views are stunning 👏
😬 pleased you enjoyed Rivvy!
Now then, that's a place isn't it, Rivi' barn! Lads used to get there on a Sunday ont bikes have coffee, dodge a tractor or two ont corners back int day. Proper walk that, cheers.
Oh it can get lively up at Rivy Barn! 🤪 Sunday's especially! Cheers Mark 🤘🏼
Great videography, lads! I would walk that trail if I wasn't an ocean away ;-)
🙏🏻 Thank you for the feedback! You'll to have visit Lancashire someday :)
Most important question, how was the lemon and poppy seed cake? 😅
Unreal haha! 🤪✌🏼🍰
hello my daughter is walking up here for her duke of edinburgh expedition in a few weeks. she is a small 13 year old who is carrying a 15kg bag. do you think this walk would be a struggle for her? i can barely walk in that bag!
Hi! So sorry we missed your comment until now. How did your daughter get on? We do see lots of youngsters carrying heavy backpacks completing DoE walks in the area. I hope she got on ok! 🙏🏻
Which is more difficult this or Pendle?
Oh I'd say Pendle for sure! Rivvy is undulating until you reach the steep-ish steps up to the pike. However the steps at Pendle are just as steep, yet a lot longer.
