Railroad Adventures With Kendall
United States
Приєднався 13 кві 2023
Join Kendall as he explores and shares his passion for all things railroad related.
Kendall developed an early passion for all things train and railroad related like so many others who are also autistic. While growing up, his passion grew as did his artist gifts. He became quite good at drawing trains and locomotives which led to him studying art in college. As a training exercise after he graduated from Fresno State in 2019, he created a UA-cam channel called Adventures With Kendall (AWK). The channel was to utilize his graphic art skills, develop his video and photography abilities, teach him video editing and help him deal with social skills on camera. On his many adventures, his favorite locations were visits to current and former railroads. He created this new rail only channel for his fellow rail fans (foamers) to enjoy exclusive rail related content. The new channel combines his love for the rails, and his artist talents with his gift of researching.

Great video
Thanks!
A very nice and interesting video. I've heard about other railroads that handled shipments of lumber (and will have a lumber industry on my HO scale layout), but this is the first time learning about the Fresno Sugar Pine Lumber Company.
Glad you learned something new. Thanks for watching.
Nice video!
Thanks!
Great job and fantastic video 👍 thank you 🙏
Roaring Camp is a fun place
Nice video. I am working on building a 7 1/2" gauge live steam version of the Madera Sugar Pine Company 0-4-0 Betsy.
That sounds very cool!
So cool that they are still around!
Indeed!
I have enjoyed your 3 videos on this subject. Well done!🎉
Thank you. We wanted to tell the story about this unique logging operation.
I love all the old images and the stories that go with them.
Thanks for watching.
Great vid Kendall.
Thank you!
Hi, Kendall. Not really related to this video, but did you know that Raymond, CA was the terminus in the San Joaquin Valley when Teddy Roosevelt made his famous trip with John Muir to Yosemite? There is remnant track and a railcar by the museum and you can see where a railway turntable was located there
Thanks for the info. I have been there and have footage. I just never have turned it into an episode yet. Maybe I need to get that done! Thanks for watching and reaching out.
Without a visit to the depot there is no point in going. Thanks for stopping me wasting my money on this tour.
Yes, it's disappointing that the tour doesn't visit the round house/shop.
@@RailroadAWK I did the one at Disneyworld some years ago and we did visit the shed. Undoubtedly now considered a security/safety risk or both.
I've heard they used to do that at Disneyland too.
Good Morning
Howdy!
Portola railroad museum is one of my favorite places on earth. Great show. I’ll keep watching your shows…
It's a great museum. Thanks for watching!
Great video, high quality production!
Much appreciated!
I LOVE TRAINS!!!!
Me too!
LOVE THIS!!!!!!
Thanks! It was a great experience.
I am wondering how he chose the Grizzly Flats name. The Caldor narrow gauge logging railroad was used in the area of Grizzly Flat California.
Good question. I honestly don't know why he named it that.
Magnificent catches of the steam locomotive Union Pacific 4014 Big Boy coming by and pass. I like it 5 stars. Hearing that amazing puffing and chufing sound and cars is absolutely crazy. Thumbs up. Keep up the perfect work out there, my friend, i just liked and subscribed your channel, Greetings from Portugal to the USA.
Thank you very much! It's great to hear from other railfans.
Awesome - thanks for putting this together.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Big Boy sure has a big sound too. They say in the old days that the engineers use to communicate with other trains using different tones or like Morse code. I do not know, but some of them really sound cool. I loved that river scene about mid way through the video made me wish I could go swimming! Gosh your video's make me feel young again. Thanks man, have a cool day.
Hey Bobby, great to hear from you again. The train whistle does have code to it. They still use some of it in modern railroading. Glad these videos stir up good vibes. That is for watching!
@@RailroadAWK Wow thanks for replying I did not know for sure but appreciate your knowledge of the subject. Like you always love trains.
I like the greeting at Colfax. Great footage, thanks 🎉
There had been an issue with a tree that fell on the tracks that day and the train was 4 hours delayed arriving in Colfax. It was supposed to stop there and the town of Colfax had big plans. To make up time from the tree incident, they had to canceled the planned stop. It was a long day, but I actually prefer the rolling footage. Thanks for watching.
@@RailroadAWK thanks again!
Great video work, Brother. Best yet
Glad you enjoyed it!
The 4014 is such a work of art! ❤
Indeed!
Thank you Kendall
Thanks for watching another video.
Awesome
Thanks!
Hey Kendall! I'm David Drummond, the one you interviewed in Roseville! It was great to meet you, and I'm so happy to see my face on your channel.
Thanks for the great interview David. It's always fun meeting fellow railfans at events like this. I hope you'll enjoy watching more of my content.
Another great video, Kendall. I like the close up details of the 4014 and all the interviews
Glad you like them! I had so much fun.
Great video! I wanted to see inside of the UP museum, but the line was extremely long on Saturday.
Thank you! Glad we were able to show the inside so you could see some of it.
Quite a crowd there Kendall, looked like you were really enjoying your day with Big Boy. Some Locomotive for sure have a good day.
I had a blast! Thanks for watching.
Every day is better when your videos come out
Wow, thanks!
Glad to see you enjoying more of Big Boy! Great interviews and I love the segment with Ed.
Thanks, it was so much fun!
👍👍
Thanks!
Excellent video Kendall. I enjoyed meeting you at the WPRM event and exchanging cards. Your video is very well put together, and I like the interviews you included. Good taste in music too! Will look forward to watching more of your content.
Thank you! I always enjoy meeting fellow railfans like you when I am out and about. I appreciate you watching and hope to run into you again.
Great video Kendall. On a day with ordinary trains it can be tough chasing a train there. Your video of the 4014 makes it look easy. 👍👍
Thanks! We had to be creative about where we stopped, but we sure had fun.
I was the interviewee at the 6:45 mark. Thanks for including my comments in this video. My family has lived in Portola since the early 2000s, and we love our trains. My family used to go frequently to the famous railroad museum in Portola where Big Boy made his day-long stop. We would ride the cabooses around the loop in the yard, and I even took part in the museum’s famous Drive-A-Locomotive program. For special events, they would also bring out large model train sets. So to experience that all again many years later (not to mention another a steam engine pulled the cabooses this time) brought back a lot of nostalgia and memories. The last time I remember a steam train making a big appearance was in 2009 when UP’s No. 844 visited Portola.
Your interview was great. We appreciate you sharing with us and all who watch. Memories like yours are worth sharing. There is another episode that is all about the Western Pacific Museum that you might enjoy. Thanks again for the interview, for watching and for commenting!
That looks like a great place. We will have to get there soon.
It's a nice museum, but I like them all. 😂
The Feather River sure makes a great backdrop for the 4014! Thanks Kendall 🎉
You're welcome. The sight of watching No. 4014 going through the Feather River Canyon was a certainly a treat of this trip.
Looks like a great adventure!
It was!
Thank you for sharing the history of these locomotives. That was really interesting learning about the archimedes screw! And it was great seeing you in Colfax on Sunday waiting for 4014! I hope you had a great day. Did you make it to the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railway Museum? We ended up following 4014 up to Reno for lots of good photos that we could share with you if you like.
Nice meeting you too. We didn't make it to museum. We were hungry and tired and decided to just head home. We had been on the road since Tuesday. It was such a great experience though.
@@RailroadAWK Yes, with the delay and the heat I understand. That’s really great that you got to follow it since that Tuesday.
Yes, we were blessed to be there as long as we were. It was an amazing adventure!
Great video. We visited it in Roseville and then followed it up to Reno, but I wish we’d also gone up to Portola to see it at the museum there and followed it going through the Feather River Canyon and down the valley near Marysville.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I had a fantastic time chasing it and just hanging out with other rail fans on the days it was on display.
Check out OpenRailwayMap for the path of this railroad.
Great video Kendall, thank you for sharing the event with your excellent video work. Cheers.
It is my pleasure. I had such a great time.
Nice vid! Some corrections though, WP 805A is the last WP CZ locomotive built, but not the last one for the CZ(there are some DRGW and CBQ CZ units preserved). Same for the WP 1500; it was the last switcher for WP, but not their last ordered power. Interesting that WPRM has one of the WP's last steam switchers, their first diesel switchers(also their first diesel -electric locomotive) and their last ordered switch engine.
Minor correction on my part: WP SW1500 number 1503( after the UP merged the WP, they temporarily kept the original numbers for these units after repainting).
Thank you for the corrected information. I need to pay better attention to my details when doing research. Thanks again!
Ed and his crew are so humble and kind, always ready and happy to be asked anything by anyone. Great video as always guys!
Agreed! It's a first class operation.
Great Job!
Thanks!
Great interviews!
They were fun to interview.
Wow, they let people inside of the cab?
Just special guest. Those folks are all respected steam railroad experts. I did see a couple videos of reporters riding along though.
Nice video!
Thanks!
Wonderful video!! Really gives you an idea of the power this "Big Boy" has. Thank you for sharing.
Glad you liked it!
