It's good to see from the other comments that you picked up on Hoid in the flashback. Those scenes remind me of his time telling stories in Warbreaker but Wit is so prominent a character in this series compared to his 'cameos'

Dogs don't exist on Roshar!!

There is a lot of risk involved for Kaladin in not revealing Moash, but Kaladin rarely cares for the risk to himself over his sense of morality. And he is caught in between his duty to Dalinar and his orders and his duty to Bridge 4 and Moash as one of his close friends. It’s the same scenario as when a family member of a policeman commits a heinous crime and the policemam finds out before his colleagues. What does he do?

I'd be careful about using the epigraphs (what you call headnotes) from part 3 to craft theories, as they are written in a deliberately dense and scholarly voice that is inherently incomprehensible to first-time readers. I will say that the epigraph from ch 41 is a direct continuation to the epigraph from ch 40, so its specifically talking about the Recreance, AKA the betrayal of the Knights, not the betrayal of the Heralds.

The only one of the trophies you mentioned that you know about are the thick "hairpins." Hint, they aren't hairpins. That's just what Shallan thinks they look like. They are way thicker than you'd think from that description.

I notice you have been reading at a slower pace, iv'e had the same after many sanderson books. You need to take a break from sanderson and come back later, it will feel like less of a chore. I would recommend The Faithful and the Fallen by John Gwynne. It will feel like a breathe of fresh air, believe me :D

Good stuff! You have a lot of the same predictions I had at that point. I’m now almost done with Oathbringer (I also read Edgedancer after Words of Radiance). The climaxes for books 2 and 3 are bonkers!

IMPORTANT READING ORDER - There is a short novella edgedancer between this and the next book, it is contained in arcanum unbounded which also included mistborn secret history which should have been read after the third book in mistborn era 2 even if chronilogically it happened after era 1, I would also look into reading elantris before getting too far into stormlight as there is more and more crossover happening later in the series and you might be missing some stuff, brandon sanderson did a video about his proposed reading order here ua-cam.com/video/0mC8dsQJK7w/v-deo.html

Some solid guess, and I'm liking the lore that is starting to be solidified in your head section by section. Discovering all the lore for the first time vicariously through you as I have read the series so many times now.

It's a shame that you didn't get to hear the Kate Reading version of "No apologize. Boots!" from the audiobook.

For me I also interpreted the zahel interlude not as it was supposed to be read. There are some hints, that there is more to him (as you predicted already). But those hint to something else them him beeing a herald. There is one big clue at the end of the book. I think we can tell you what is going on, if you do not get what is up with him then.

I'm curious what you read that made you think the Heralds shattered the plains? It's an interesting theory, but certainly not explicitly stated by the point you've read.

I love words or radiance. Keeps me on my toes, what is going to happen next the words or the radiance. Also I love when Shallan said "We are the radiance now." and Zahel go "But you are not the words." and then Nazh go "What if the words and radiance was the friends we made along the way." And Roshar just stomlight archives all over them.

The note about getting the chest from the bottom of the ocean is interesting. The text on illustrations can be hard to read on ebook versions and I have never noticed that in all my reads. There is also stuff going on in the background and coincidence is often just unseen maneuvering

Roshar doesn't actually have dogs. Most of their animals are crab-like and/or have carapace to protect them from highstorms. You're thinking of an axehound, which is a large crustacean that acts like a dog.

Ah yes, Zahel, interesting fellow no doubt. A love interest for Kal!! Hmmm. Yeah that’s interesting you find book 1 shallans plot better - I think that’s fair, it’s certainly more intriguing. Her adventures in this one do….. expand however so hopefully that sparks it up :)

1. you met Nazh already, in secret history, kelsier met him.and his companion at a fire im the cognitive realm. They are the people writing the ars arcanum at the end of each book. they are just scholars. 2. shallan and Yasnah talk about them beeing from different orders (of the knights radiant) in the beginning of this book. so we do not know if yasnah was able to do lightweaving.
