One downside to reading the book instead of listening to the Audible version is you don't get to hear Kate Reading's "I am a *stick*". Or her Pattern in general.

"be careful what you wish for" springs to mind in this one :P I didn't really see the trunk washing up with Shallan to be all that cheap. It's a sealed trunk filled with Jasnah's valuables, and any tide that washes up Shallan will ALSO wash up any other flotsam and jetsam. The convenience of meeting somebody we already know is a fair criticism... but Jordan is a direct influence for Sanderson, and while his worldbuilding lacks "the pattern" I think this is to be expected. And Shallan may not be as safe as you believe :P
Great video! So 2 things you missed/got wrong: 1. the parshman are close to dullform (there seems to be something different about them), but they are NOT all spies. The listeners have a few spies (in dullform) in the parshman ranks. 2. The amian (blue skin with tattoos) we meet in the Rysn interlude is Axies the Collector from the interlude in Way of Kings!

Keep an eye on him! - I’m not sure the ending to Rysn’s Interlude landed completely. She’s seriously injured.
Your critical thinking and expansion on what you have read is seriously impressive. It’s very enjoyable to watch your thought process, and to see how close, or far, you are from what actually happens. I generally like to just consume the stories I read, and I don’t really think too much/predict on what may or may not happen. Your style is pretty much the opposite it seems, and it’s so fun to see! I sometimes read books I've already read simultaneously because I do enjoy just enjoying the story rather then having to try and figure out what's happening the whole time. Not that I don't love trying to predict what's happening also, but it is a lot of effort, no where near as chill as just going along for the ride.
I think you are really going to enjoy the pieces you get in this book, and how they come together. Though yeah stuff like the person Shallan meets is the person from before is a bit convenient. It is still justifiable geographically. And as for the luggage, two objects floating in the ocean near one another are likely to be pushed in the same direction (Shallan & trunk). Its not a perfect explanation but it isn't too contrived either.
I never thought about the convenience of Shallan washing ashore before but at least the trunk can be somewhat assigned to the idea of shipwrecking as others have said. Now I don't know why it would feel cheap her meeting someone we know from before unless it ends up having a story based impact but certainly there was luck/convenience in her coming across someone very soon. I think she gets a chance to develop and practice surviving without having to spend a chunk of time going all survivor in the wild and dying in the first highstorm.
@conorreads That's the part that is hard when replying is confirming or denying what happens with a point before you have had a chance to read on. Glad you like the direction he took it though, personally I like this to the alternatives.
I don't know if you missed it or just forgot, but at the end of the last book Jasnah and Shallan come up with the theory that the voidbringers are the parshmen
Just a small note: Kaladin had been a slave for several months by the time he ended up in the hands of the slaver Shallan meets, and he had multiple masters in that time. So the slaver wouldn’t be able to corroborate his story about Amaram. This is mentioned early on in The Way of Kings, so it’s understandable you had forgotten by this point
You should know that if you are going to read Edgedancer, you may want to skip Interlude I-9. The novella incorporates the interlude into the plot so you’ll be reading it twice if you don’t.

So just to clarify the aimian rysn meets is axis the collector its not out right staited but read those interludes back to back and it becomes obvious

Yeah it's not terrible, I was more upset about the slaver coming back into again, but having read on I like where it is going......
