At 1:02:45 you made a small comment about countries going into other countries. Unfortunately, events that happen in other countries often have a world changing impact, just look at what is currently happening in Ukraine and other places. As for Somalia, it remains what is known as a "failed state". After this, the US and then the UN and Red Cross pulled out of Somalia. When foreigners would no longer go into the country, the Somalis went out, sending pirates to attack and capture cargo ships using the Suez Canal. For a great movie about that, see "Captain Phillips" with Tom Hanks. Today, Somalia is used as a training ground for ISIS and other terrorist groups who then attack people all over the world. Many of the Somali people are still starving, but you can buy any kind of gun or weapon system you want there.

The cops are one of the movies most impactful methods of conveying the attitudes of the people as they travel across the country. In the South, the cops are hostile to both Tony and Doc and quick to antagonize+arrest the both of them. The officer at the police station when they are arrested who says to the chief “he does have rights” before Doc’s phone call, conveys that there are outliers/skeptics to the Jim Crow/segregation southern thinking. The juxtaposition being the worker in Indiana (the north) who forgets the Steinway and says discriminatory remarks about both Doc and Tony. Later, at the end of the tour, they return to New York around Christmas, the cop who stops them in the north is helpful, genuine, and friendly to them both, despite Dr. Shirley’s initial skepticism (“is there a problem, officer?). I think it’s also important to note that, while yes, Dr. Shirley is discriminated against for being black, so is Tony for being Italian-American, which at the time was also disparaged outside of the Northeast, particularly the South. This further reinforces the theme throughout the movie that each of them have different experiences and perspectives due to wealth, but face the same challenges in society, particularly in the racially charged south where race is at the forefront of every interaction.

I met Ralston very briefly a long time ago, even before this movie came out. He was signing his book at REI or Barnes and Noble, I don't remember which. Somebody mentioned they were making it into a movie and I was skeptical how they could tell a story like that where the main character is stuck in one place and still hold people's attention. They definitely pulled it off and then some.

The U.S. Army only provided 4 Black Hawks and 4 Little Birds and their crews plus like 100 or so Rangers to do the fast roping and to serve as extras. In real life, the helicopter armada included 8 Hawks plus a backup or two, and 11 Little Birds, some in the attack configuration (AH-6s) with the guns mounted on small wing pylons and some in the transport configuration (MH-6s) with the benches to carry the Delta assault team and an Air Force Combat Controller. Super 6-1 and Super 6-2 were the Delta sniper "platforms", where only Delta soldiers were onboard with the crews. Super 6-3 was the Command and Control (C2) chopper that Harrell and Matthews were flying in, Supers 6-4, 6-5, 6-6 and 6-7 carried Rangers and an Air Force Combat Controller and Super 6-8 was the Combat Search And Rescue (CSAR) chopper with one Delta medic, two Air Force Pararescuemen, a Combat Controller and 11 Rangers to act as security if needed. The convoy that rolls into the city had one Combat Controller that rode with Colonel McKnight as well as a Humvee with no doors, roof or front windshield that was crewed by 4 men of Navy SEAL Team 6. Every man on the ground that day was part of a Tier 1 unit, meaning they were the best of the best in Special Forces. The Army's 75th Ranger Regiment, Special Operational Detachment - Delta, the Air Force's 24th Special Tactics Squadron and SEAL Team 6's Gold Squadron. The Army's 160th SOAR is crewed by the cream of the crop of Army aviation. In the end, 5 helicopters were downed in total. 6-1 and 6-4 crashed in the city. 6-2 was hit in the right side while providing cover for the 6-4 crash survivors and crash landed in the new port facility. 6-6 was hit in the tail but managed to get back to the airfield. The crew grabbed the spare Black Hawk and rejoined the fight, flying resupply missions all night long. 6-8 was hit in the main rotor and also crash landed at the airfield.

Hello ladies and puppy dog, I'm new to your channel. This should be fun. I like seeing peoples reaction to movies. The Exorcist is one of those movies. I know we're in a world of AI and CGI. Their is nothing wrong with that. We call it progress. We had a day. Where story telling takes time. Trying not to rush the movie. I think the Exorcist movie and book are both good. A lot of possession movies have this movie to think. I will keep on defending The Exorcist. Everyone is aloud their own opinion. Please have fun watching the movie. I love the dog. Cuddle with a dog while watching a movie is fun. Look forward to another video.

I think that if ANYONE suffers a horrifying, permanently life-changing ordeal (like this), the government should give them a monthly check for the rest of their lives. At least enough for food, clothes and a decent apartment/condo, forever. Of course it would never work as a practical matter, because millions of homeless amputees in freezing cold cities like Minneapolis and Chicago go through horrifying ordeals every day, and will for the rest of their lives. Can't feasibly give them all free money for life.

I am not sure what country you are from and amazed there are people who aren't painfully aware of Mogadishu or the problems that part of the world had and has. This event was an epic failure of the Clinton administration as bad in it's own way as President Biden's pull out from Afghanistan. Personally I think the names of the men who really died is much more important than the names of the actors portraying them. The guys on the screen are just actors and replaceable. The men they portrayed were not replaceable and their loss is still mourned by many. Chief Warrant Officer Jones plays himself in the movie. He received a Silver Star for his actions that day as did SSG Busch after his death. The US Army commander on scene had requested armored vehicles and tanks for this mission. The White House and the Secretary of Defense denied their request claiming it would be an escalation. Afterwards even though the operation (Gothic Serpent) was planned and ordered by people thousands of miles away attempts were made to blame Major General Garrison and other Army commanders on the scene. However enough Americans knew about the truth that many investigations began and blame was directed further up the chain. The US pulled back from Somalia, Secretary of Defense Aspin resigned and fear of a repeat performance kept the Clinton administration from intervening during the Rwanda crisis. Suggested movie, "The Lost Battalion"

It was released in theaters in black & white in 1946 40 years later in 1986 it was released in both Black and white and colorized VHS for the people who don't like black & white and for the people who do love the black & white version but then years later a two disc dvd was released in 2007 for people who love both versions
