Dear, I have seen this beautiful film several times in Italy: it was very successful here. It is a beautiful story about the birth of a friendship. Greetings from Milan, Italy
I'm curious. What does the Italian American way of speaking like Tony speaks sound like to someone who's from Italy? I understand there's a lot of slang in there that doesn't exist in mainland Italian.
@@robertlombardo8437 Thanks for the question. In our country, foreign films are almost all dubbed in Italian, so it's difficult to give you an answer. However, I watched some English parts on UA-cam and indeed there are some expressions in Sicilian dialect, even though Frank Anthony "Lip" Vallelonga's family of origin was from Calabria, a region in southern Italy. I also read an interview with Viggo Mortensen in which he said that more than on the language, he focused on the typical gestures of us Italians without wanting to overdo it so as not to appear ridiculous and it must be said that he succeeded very well. Bye
I love how the dude said “you shouldn’t have punched the foreman for waking you up while you slept on the job” and she was questioning whether or not it was wrong as if it wasn’t just automatically the wrong thing to do
At 12:54, I'm the background extra wearing brown pants and a dark red shirt with the grey panels on the side. This section was filmed in "Hollywood South," particularly Hammond, Louisiana... they made two whole streets in my downtown look like NY back in the day... it was amazing! Got to shake hands with Vigo, who was a very gracious guy to all of us. One of the most fun 12 hours I ever spent on a set!
Great reaction and I'm glad that you came across that it was one that I had only just recently heard of because there were some UA-cam clips going around. Not only a well done movie but beautiful from a cinematography standpoint

6:36 everyone has like a built-in reaction to excessive amounts of food, skinny or fat. Commonly, it would be us going “Oh, I’m so full, I’ve had enough so I’ll stop now”. That’s the brain and our stomach working together to tell us “stop”. But in truth, our stomachs can take in A LOT of food and liquid. It takes practice (or bad habit) to occasionally force down a lot of food in one sitting. Doing that sort of trains our stomach muscles to be more relaxed and accepting when lots of food comes down. Source: Sometimes I eat enough food for two or three people in one sitting. And I’m a 5ft Asian just slightly above being underweight in the BMI.
The end has so many little things that would have never happened at the start. Tony saying to forget the money and miss the payday for the Christmas show, Don happily eating with his hands at the Orange Bird, Don wrapped Tony in his blanket that he’s very protective of, Tony, who threw away glasses touched by black men, now happily embraces and looks with pride as this gay black man embraces his wife.
