I don't know how many times I have seen Hereditary, but it's a lot.. and only this time did I notice that she didn't even touch the blue paint to knock it over, her hand wasn't near it! The camera angle makes it easy to miss, but also obvious when you are paying attention. So many little details in this movie that it needs repeated viewings to pick them all up. Excellent directing!
In my opinion, the perfect movie. It is so accurate in its emotional outbursts, that those ground us further into “reality”, everytime we are introduced with something weird and sinister there’s another emotional peak that allows us to feel safe in “reality”. When the seance happens, everything starts going to shit, and the foundation we grounded ourselves in becomes more and more unhinged and more stressed. It’s the perfect dupe of a movie, sets you up for a STRONG emotional family dramedy and then BOOM just fucking balls out horror for the last quarter Love the reaction, you both followed along way better than anyone I’ve seen
Great reaction. I'd heard of King Paimon somewhere before this. So ended up geeking out a little finding out about him. The lore this film uses is pretty much spot on. A few fun bits the film changed: The book you see is even one of the few books containing lore of Paimon (12th century), they just changed the title of the book. King Paimon is actually 1 of 9 kings of Hell. So the thing about needing to face in a certain way is incorrect. The other change is the beheadings. His lore contains nothing about that. The reason it was included was the art work you see in the book. He has 3 heads hanging from his belt. So they changed that. But it adds a Lot of extra scare. Hope that helps you guys sleep a little more soundly. Hope everyone is having a great week & much love to everyone from here in the UK
Grandma worshiped paimon. She wanted to put paimon in annie’ son, but annie wouldn’t let her mom to be near her son. When annie was pregnant with charlie, she allowed her mom back in her life. So the mom used that chance to put paimon in charlie’s body. So Charlie was paimon the entire time. But paimon prefers male body. So they killed charlie (joanie and the cult), and planned to move paimon to peter’s body. But paimon can only enter a body if a person is mentally vulnerable. So they orchestrated the whole thing to bring peter down, so paimon can finaly enter his body.
*SPOILER* When the pages of the book are turning by themselves on the bed and they speed up its all making the same sound as when the mother was sawing her head off with the piano wire.
There's about 50 really good horror movies out there. Starting with the exorcist, the first Halloween and Friday the 13th, hellraiser, the evil dead trilogy, all the multiple movies in the Conjuring universe, drag me to hell, smile woman in black, the descent, barbarian, The grudge, the ring, lights out (watch the short first) the shining, I'll throw in The Thing and Alien because of their gore and jump scare factor, the Omen , and maybe a few others. But i can easily say, after The Exorcist, this is number 2! There was nothing ever hereditary about this family. Dear old grandma or even generations before her, tried conjuring demons, and put in the men of this family. When Charlie dies and ma sleeps in the treehouse and the camera pans back, watch the wall! When Peter is in bed and first hears the click, watch his eyes!! There's homages to Friday the 13th and exorcist in here. The clock stopping, the subject taught in Peter's class, even the released date of this!! Also, the parking lot scene was a setup. She kept pulling and tugging on Annie and turned her back to her own vehicle because if u look close, she JUST BOUGHT that chalkboard, and its in the back! How Toni Collette didn't win a Oscar is a crime! U can damn well bet either joannie never had a son and grandson, or if she did, she killed them trying to put paimon in them!
Very interesting movie. But I personally loved seeing your happy dog being with you and being so connected with you and hearing her snoring and then chewing on a bone off camera and how you were all so loving, petting, ear rubbing, all that great stuff. She's so pretty too, what's her name anyway? I work rehabilitating abused dogs so I loooove it when I see someone being so great with their dog. I also really like the way you actually watch the movie instead of constantly jabbering all the way through it non stop like far too many of the insufferable reactors do. So I'm definitely going to keep watching. Cheers!
Think...no part of this movie would have happened, if Annie right from the beginning, went through her mom's boxes! Pro tips...go back to the scene, the mom's work table, watch the blue bottle! The director did Midsonmar as well. It's good but I just kinda didn't buy the premise, so I wasn't as impressed. This movie here, I would put up with The Thing, Exorcist, the shining, a few others. How Toni Collette didn't win an Oscar for this, is beyond me! A bit of horror truth, when he smashed his face in the desk, he was supposed to hit padding but didn't. His face looking all dislocated, was real! Also Peter's first class, is the same subject from the original Holloween, and the trailer for this came out the same day, the Halloween reboot did!😮😮😮Another callback is during their seance, the clock stops, callback to exorcist! What was hereditary in this family wasn't mental illness, it was Grandma and proly those before her, driving family members insane, with their satanic/cult worship! Charlie was already possessed, represented by the clicks. Heard while she was alive, and after she died, BEFORE the seance. I would say, joan tried sacrificing her son and grandson. Either they killed themselves, or she killed them. Seems if Paimon is not happy with a body it is in, it has to die and be beheaded, so paimon can leave the body, i say it happened to dear old grandma, and definitely happened to Annie and Charlie! I just noticed a weird parallel...the biggest foreshadowing...when the dad gets charlie from the treehouse to go to the funeral, she standing up in the corner, and the camera view is from below slightly like shes twisting and floating!!!! Then In the almost final scenes, the mom is up in the corner of charlies room then floats away, then is up in the corner, above peter, as he's looking at his burned dad!😮 And finally, charlie is back where we first met her, hanging in the treehouse! Biblically speaking, u NEVER want to conjure someone who is dead...this NEVER goes well! King Saul conjured the spirit of the profit, and all went downhill real fast! Anyone notice in mom's room, triangle on the floor. The mirror? Like absolutely zero reflection?😮😮😮😮. For me, I just couldn't by into Midsonmar, so I thought it was stupid. But u may like it. His next was with Joaquin Phoenix, in I think called, Beau is afraid. The Oscars ought to before themselves on this one! She has been a top ten actor, male or female, for 30 years! The mom in 6th sense, this, knives out, a offbeat comedy with Cameron Diaz, there's nothing she can't do! also think, every word out of grandma and Joanie's mouth was a lie. And u can bet they both killed off the male members of their families, to gain power or get Paimon into one of the male bodies. Or both. Joanie knew, if Annie did a seance, by herself or with family, she would let Paimon/Charlie loose in her house, because Annie had zero idea how to end a seance, or send demons back to where they came from. So Annie's dad was either starved by Grandma or he did it to himself purposely, to be weak and no good for a demon. Annie's brother said in his suicide note, Grandma was putting people inside him. And Joanie? Probably herself, drowned her son and grandson! Also after Charlie's death, the mom goes to sleep in the treehouse, watch the wall when the camera zoom pulls backwards!😮😱
Og, fantastic. Now I have to watch hereditary AND the girl on the right.... Letsgo❤😂 You're 10/10 is what I'm saying. I'm moving to York from Norway in a couple of years. Hope I will see you? Meeting a girl with galway eyes🎉
After the 'Captain Philips' you asked for a light-hearted movie. Why don't you take a break with a comedy, maybe a classic like Duck Soup, or something light like Monty Python, or Office Space?
Let's not forget that mothers lose their children everyday in Ukraine. Every day mothers cry over their kids after missile attacks from Russia. They target civilians. Urge your representative to stop this slaughter
I will never pass up a Hereditary reaction I haven’t seen yet that shows up in my recommended!
When the Mom was sawing her head off the sound of your dog chewing on a bone made it even creepier lol.
I'd be too self-conscious to be in this cult. I'd be asking, "Ugh, do we really have to be naked for this?"
Bro, r u good?
every time i see Toni Collette acting in this movie im just amazed.. like she experienced all of this in reality

The director confirmer this once on an interview. I never noticed
I have my headphones on, and hearing ur dog snoring scared me🥶 felt like someone behind me 😂
😨 As if it weren't scary enough.😂

1:02 the dog senses the creepiness...
A rewatch only makes this movie better fr. So many things are shown throughout. Literally the very beginning having all cult members at the funeral.
Agree, it needs to be watched twice as horrifying as that is. 😅

Thanks for breaking this down. Watching this a second time definitely helps.
The fact that Toni didn't win ALL the awards after this performance still pisses me off!
*SPOILER*

Side note you're doggo snoring in the background is too cute i thought it was my dog at first because i was cuddling her. xD
"i dunno" as the mom is screaming is the funniest thing i'm sorry

Check the scene again with tge blue paint bottle. It tipped over on it's own.
