Walking with John & Diana
United Kingdom
Приєднався 28 лют 2021
Explore, primarily, West Sussex with us as we take in the glorious downs, woodlands and beaches of our home county, usually accompanied by our beloved border terrier.
Due to their cinematic nature, our videos are best watched on a large screen such as a TV, to fully appreciate the visual detail and immersive aural experience we try to convey.
So much of our history, nature and heritage is being lost due to over-development, particularly here in West Sussex. We hope to capture and share some of the beauty of our countryside, coastline and wildlife with others before it is too late.
Since late 2022, our videos provide a combination of aerial drone views and traditional camera footage, which we hope enhances the viewer's enjoyment.
Note: Our videos are produced solely for artistic content; a hobby for which no income is received. We operate the drone in a responsible manner and are registered with UK CAA. Whether using camera or the drone, we are respectful of people's privacy.

Ashington and Warminghurst, West Sussex; a sad farewell
Join us on a walk from Ashington to Warminghurst in West Sussex. This has been a tough video to make.
Due to its cinematic nature, this video is best watched on a large screen, such as a TV, to fully appreciate the visual detail and immersive aural experience we try to convey.

We started our walk at the church of St Peter and St Paul in Ashington. Then through woodland, along lanes and across fields to Warminghurst and back.
At the time, it was a very enjoyable walk. Just two days later, it would signify the final walk with our beloved Border Terrier, and consequently has been a very difficult video to make (as were the previous two videos which were edited after she passed away). We are absolutely heartbroken; she spent almost every minute of her entire life with us (walking, working and playing). There is now an enormous void.
We have taken an indefinite break from making our videos. Though our Border did not feature significantly in them, we always included some 'doggy-cam', and she was with us every step of the way.
All background and natural sounds were recorded during our time filming.
We hope you enjoyed watching as much as we enjoyed walking. If you did, please remember to click the thumbs up (like) button, and leave a comment.

I had an Aunt who lived in East Dean way back in the late 60's early 70's Spent many a summer exploring the fields and woodlands, a special place
The fields and woods are idyllic for children to play in and explore, and perhaps have changed little since the times you were there. Hopefully the video brought back happy memories. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Lovely calming video. As I write this the rain is pouring down so no gardening again today. Your video is just what I needed to calm me down.Very suitable music as well. Thanks from Brian in Chichester.
Oh my, you are going back in time with this one, Brian. It is not the best quality but the day was perfect. We are pleased you enjoyed watching.
John& Diana, my wife Andrea and I know every path , every inch from hoirne tower to Duncton and the lakes back through Sutton , west literally trail ,Lovely Bury, stop at the bench by the river and back to Houghton hundred times wonderful ! You have captured it for me to relive now she’s gone It’s bitter sweet in the extreme but I can’t not look John xxx
Thank you for watching and for your comments. It is a very special part of the world. We are pleased you enjoy watching even though it is bittersweet. Hopefully the happy memories of your walks will far outweigh the feelings of loss. Our kindest wishes.
I have lived away from West Sussex for 6 years abroad - these videos really help me.
We are so pleased you enjoy our videos. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank You John and Diana for another stunning walk in the Sussex countryside. I can almost smell it ! Beautiful sounds and great camera work. Brian from Chichester.
Thank you for your lovely comments, Brian; they are much appreciated. It is a fabulous area, though I do feel that my filming at that time left much to be desired! Thank you for watching. John
wow what a place
Amazzing video and beatiful photos. Thanks from México!!
Thank you kindly, we are pleased you enjoyed it. 🙂
A beautiful area (which I know well) made all the better by your superb filming. Thanks, Brian.
Thank you for your kind comments, Brian. Yes, it is indeed a lovely area; in fact, the whole of Chichester Harbour SSSI is wonderful.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful plant and nice footage, Relax with music, admire the scenery, see beautiful flowers you show. I wish you success, Let's go together with you
Thank you for your comments; pleased you enjoyed watching.
hey both,i am so sorry.....people who haven't got dogs can empathise, those that have sympathise. Awful time for you both. nothing I can say makes it any easier....
Thanks Marcus for your kind comments. It is still very raw, but we try to focus on the happy times we had with her.
Sorry to hear about your dog. Unfortunately, the canine lifespan is very much shorter than ours, so these things are sure to happen, although if I were to get a dog now I'm sure it would outlive me! Your wildlife filming was excellent as always. My son lived in Ashington for some years before moving to Billingshurst, and I know there's a fair bit of development around there, so it's good that you are still able to find places to walk in the area. I hope your videos will continue, with or without a new dog to accompany you.
Thank you for your kind comments, Jim. You are right about lifespan, and we know what will happen from the outset, but we still put ourselves through it! I guess the pleasure dogs give during their lives far outweighs the pain of losing them. Sadly, Ashington is little more than a housing estate which is why it barely featured in the video. Billingshurst is even worse, though we have not visited for a few years. The last we saw was swathes of green fields that had been turned into housing. We are not sure if or when we will resume our films; it's all rather raw still.
I'm so sorry to hear of the sad loss of your dear little dog. She looked so lovely. I discovered your channel fairly recently and have been enjoying your videos very much. They are so beautiful and tranquil.
Thank you for your kind comments. She was full of life, and loved to play and walk. Hopefully, you still have a few of our videos to catch up with, though the earlier ones were rather poor quality! We are pleased you enjoy them.
Dear John and Diana. What sad news. I am gutted for you. It is plain to see from the tribute to your lovely Border Terrier (which had me in tears) she was one happy, well cared for, well loved and very special dog. Suzie
Oh, Suzie, thank you for your kind words. We always did our very best for our special little girl. Sadly, she became unwell and there was nothing more we could do to help her. She gave us so much love and happiness and memories that will endure.
So very sad. A friend of mine recently lost her little dog in similar circumstances. They mean so much to us. I do hope you both feel able to do some more walks after a while. I used to do these walks with a group but now too old so I come with you instead. Kindest regards and with love. Brian.
Thank you for your kind words, Brian. You are correct, they are a part of the family and leave a huge whole when they are gone. We are not sure quite what we will do about future walks; Diana did much of the doggy care whilst I was busy filming, so she is taking it particularly badly. Hopefully, you still have a few videos to watch, though the earlier ones were rather poor quality! Thank you, again, for your kindness. Best wishes ~ John
That must have been hard to make. God bless.
Yes, it was tough, as were the previous two, as they were edited after our little girl had passed.
Much Love to you both and your beautiful little girl🐶💔🥹🙏♥️
Thank you for your kind words; it helps to know that others loved watching her too.
We are so sorry for the loss of your wee baby girl🐶💔 We truly pray that God will hold you both tightly in His arms and ease the pain in your hearts💔 Sending so much Love to you both💖 Thank you 🙏
Thank you so much for your kind words. Each day is a struggle without her, but if we concentrate on the joy she brought and the happiness she experienced, it brings smiles rather than tears. Thank you kindly.
One day at a time💔 Weep when you need to weep Smile when you are able to♥️ It’s a journey and one of faith knowing that one day it will get better for you both though for now your hearts will hurt badly💔🙏 That is the price of Love we pay🐶 and as you know well worth it💖 God Bless you both Take Care and heal at your own pace🙏 She may be gone bless her for a wee while but never ever forgotten😍🌹
@@cherryblossom6087 thank you kindly. You are correct, it is the price of love, whether it be for a person or any animal. As responsible pet owners, we had always done our best for her, but as she became increasingly unwell, we felt an even greater responsibility. She was everything one could wish for from a dog. Thank you, again, for your kindness.
Part of team John & Diana has gone. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your precious dog. I sub to another channel which has just lost their crucial component- a cat- a talking cat- I know I thought it was incredible too. But she was part of an ongoing experiment, her Mum was/is a vet- they used talking push buttons to communicate- I believe even a hamster is taking part. I ‘m not sure why I am telling you this - the videos are interesting & funny too! Perhaps something to help you grieve- anyway there has been a lot of talk of rainbow bridges etc & I just thought of you both! A lovely montage of film at the end & I shed a tear. The website is ‘Billie speaks’ - sorry not technically minded enough to post the actual link. Take care - am thinking of you both. Diana
Thank you for your kind comments Diana; we know you have followed us and her for some time, so you know how special she was. It has been very difficult editing the last three videos, especially as our little girl would watch the preview on the TV prior to us publishing it. She was always fascinated by the Border Terrier in the videos! Thank you for the info regarding the other channel - we will take a look, as a little light relief would be welcome. ~ John & Diana
Oh dear I feel with you ,full of love for your loss ❤ she was a lovely dog
Thank you Gabi for your kind words. She certainly was lovely - yes, all owners say the same! But she really was our little girl!
Ohhhh ❤ bless her...deepest sympathy for your loss...❤...she had a lovely home with you..xxxxxx
Oh, thank you Gabrielle for your kind words. We always did our best for our little 'girl', and she is sorely missed.
So, 4 mins in, I've seen four different drone footages, images of houses, doors bushes post boxers, but no sign of John and Diana walking, what a con!
Another beautifully photographed walk which I knew quite well in my younger years. I have a photo of the sunken lane with the trees in full leaf meeting over the top. Breathtaking ! Thank you for doing the strenuous walk up to the Mill for me. It is quite a climb. In recent years the County Council have repaired and stabilised the structure of the Mill but not to the extent of fitting proper sails. Thank You again for the journey.
Thank you for your kind comments, Brian. That was a particularly tough day as the morning was very cold and frosty, we climbed the hill twice, and spent many hours filming! You are correct, the Halnaker tree tunnel is spectacular. It is a shame the sweeps (sails) are missing from the mill. I was going through my library of videos and stills the other day, and came across some clips from 2021. I wish I had thought to include a clip in this video showing the sweeps fitted! We are pleased you enjoyed watching.
Спасибо большое за очередное прекрасное видео,очень люблю природу и виды Англии
Thank you for your kind comments. We are very fortunate to live here. Thank you for watching. Спасибо за ваши добрые комментарии. Нам очень повезло жить здесь. Спасибо за просмотр.
Спасибо большое за очередную порцию красоты и позитива😊
You are most welcome - we are pleased you enjoyed it. Всегда пожалуйста - мы рады, что вам понравилось.
Another lovely video...thank you! Looks so different from my home in central Florida.
Thank you kindly. To be fair, Bosham quay and creek is also a world away from most places here in the UK. Aside from the cars, it is likely to have changed very little in 100+ years. All part of the attraction and unaffordability for mere mortals! Thank you for watching.
Love all your videos and especially the closeups of the birds and flowers...so peaceful. Thanks for taking me along!
Thank you so much for your kind comments; we are pleased you enjoy watching (and listening!).
So lovely, Thank you
Thank you
A wonderful footage again ! Thank you so much and ahhh "damselfly" !!! I love your language ! greets from Hamburg
Thank you kindly, Gabi. Pleased you enjoyed it.
Exceptional macro photography. Must have taken a long time ! Thank you so much for re-visiting places I knew long ago.
Thank you kindly, Brian. The filming takes a very long time! Diana and the dog are very patient!
Another superbly crafted video. I do look forward to seeing them. I understand why you labelled it ‘dragons & damsels’ haha!’They are fascinating creatures! I am totally ignorant on the subject. I do remember being on the Thames at Abingdon & seeing hordes of them there! What I do notice is directly a neighbour instals a water feature suddenly out of nowhere we see ( I think) dragonflies in our garden! Very often large brown ones. At the moment, all ponds etc have been removed so no flying visitors but it is a glorious sight when they are around! Your close-up photography is impressive- thanks!
Thank you for your kind comments, Diana. The dragonflies and damselflies are the final, short-lived stage. The larvae of some species will spend up to a year under water before emerging. They are such beautiful creatures, especially the demoiselles in flight. Pleased you enjoyed it.
Another wonderful video with stunning scenery and lots of interesting wildlife, all expertly filmed as always. I often drove past Burton Mill in long-ago days, and always had to stop and admire the views, no matter how much in a hurry I might be. It's great to know that things stay very much the same more than 50 years later.
Thank you kindly, Jim. Burton Mill appears to be one of only a few places in W Sussex that has remained unchanged. Long may it continue, as it allows for greater wildlife diversity.
Fabulous filming. Loved every second of it. Thank you for such professional, interesting, and beautiful topics. It is so lovely to see such beautiful countryside that has been captured so well that you feel you could actually be there ❤. That bird 🐦 song too 🎵 .. wow . X
Thank you for your kind comments, Frances. The birdsong that morning was amazing, and we hope we did it justice. The damselflies and dragonflies are such beautiful creatures. We are pleased you enjoyed the video, and thank you for watching. x
beautiful filming..!!
Thank you kindly 😊
Some lovely footage there.
Thank you kindly 😊
Thank you John and Diana for this Beautiful Video of our Stunning Nature.
You are welcome, Richard. Thank you for watching it and supporting us! We are pleased you enjoyed it.
Beautifully captured. I was there only two weeks ago. I fell in love with Slindon. My partner and I are both Cornish but she lives in Littlehampton now so im up there quite a bit. We're both exploring West Sussex bit by bit. Good to come across your channel. Regards, Andy.
Thank you for your comments Andy; we're pleased you enjoyed it. If you are able to seek out the less spoiled areas, West Sussex is beautiful. Hopefully you will get some ideas from the channel ~ John & Diana
Nice😊
Thank you 😊
Very well put together! Thank you for taking the time to film this, edit the video, and make available to view.
Thank you for your kind comments; we are pleased you enjoyed it.
Beautiful, my favourite place for photography........
Thank you. When the light is right there, it can be quite special.
Thanks. Professional as always. I knew Angmering Village (not Angmering on Sea) when I was young. Loads of wonderful flint work. Thanks for the memory.
Thank you kindly, Brian; pleased you enjoyed it and that it brought back good memories.
❤❤Wonderful💕💕 from algeria🇩🇿
Thank you kindly.
It’s a treat when one of your videos is posted! I loved this early morning walk through the West Sussex countryside- the birds like to sing in the early morning! And it looked dry underfoot for a change. Thanks for an enjoyable stroll!
Thank you for your kind comments, Diana. We are pleased you enjoyed it. You are right, the birdsong was amazing, and no wading through mud!
Another jewel ! I used to go on group walks around Slindon, especially when the local farmer had the display of pumpkins in autumn. Grateful thanks, Brian from Chichester.
Thank you for your comments, Brian, and for watching. Not sure if the pumpkins are still grown there. It really is a beautiful part of West Sussex.
Thank you for another lovely video. The videography, as always, was superb - I'm sure I could smell the honeysuckle! I've never seen a woodpecker filmed at a bird feeder before, so you did well to catch that, as well as the more "natural" shot later. Back in the late 1940s, my grandmother used to take me and my sister to Slindon woods to go "nutting", and we would gather quite a lot of hazelnuts. I'm not sure whether that was actually permitted or not. Good to see that the village still has its pond. I hear that far too many villages have lost their traditional ponds, which add so much to the English rural scene.
Thank you for your comments, Jim. I think the woodpeckers, like most birds, are opportunists, so a bird feeder is an easy option! We think it was drinking rather than eating from the tree. Not sure about the "nutting"; I suspect the National Trust would take a dim view of this now! From the information board adjacent to the pond, it looks like much effort has gone in to maintaining it and keeping it healthy. A few years back it looked anything but. Thank you for watching, as always.
I just love Slindon. Pretty, peaceful and unspoilt. I have had some lovely holidays there staying at the Camping & Caravan site on National Trust land. As always, Thank you for another lovely video.
Thank you for your comments, Sue, and for watching. It really is a beautiful area, especially up on the downs.
Thank you for another wonderful video showing beautiful nature that we all depend on for our health and our Planets health.
Thank you - we are pleased you enjoyed it. You are correct, we all depend on nature but, sadly, this fact is not recognised by all.
I used to live in angmering years ago,so beautiful
The conservation area shown in the walk is beautiful, but the village has been destroyed by the mass of new housing built over the past few years which now surrounds it.
Beautiful as always. As I approach 90 I find my old legs will not allow me to do these walks any more so you take me round with you. Thank you also for the identity of the birds and insects - very informative. Please keep up the good work ! My sincere regards, Brian from Chichester.
Thank you for your kind comments, Brian. We are pleased that you enjoy the walks; it's doubtful we will be doing them if we reach your age! We have three walks filmed with one of these nearing completion. John
Oh how I enjoyed this beautifully put together presentation. Thank you so much. More please. From nearby Chichester.
Thank you for your kind comments. There are lots more on the channel! And we have a few more in the making, including another in the Duncton area.
😍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏How lovely ! This is where I lived ages ago while I looked after my uncle's ponies at Cowdray Park Polo Club. A gorgeous town ! Muchos saludos, Mariano Scotti Olivos, Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷🇬🇧🇦🇷🇬🇧🇦🇷🇬🇧🇦🇷🇬🇧🇦🇷
