What a glorious start to a video! Your choice of music matches so well. I liked that you can hear the birds singing in the background. That was an impressive church! I liked seeing the early morning frost and the deep azure sky. You spotted a lot of birds on the walk- I haven’t seen our local kite for sometime now. I hope he will make a reappearance! The drone shots of the windmill were beautiful- it was nice to see a bench to rest the weary traveller by the windmill. Thank you for recording this video
Thank you for your kind comments, Diana. Much work goes in to trimming video and music to match, and we feel it really worked well for this. It matched the glorious sunrise, too. Yes, lots of birds, and they were only the ones we filmed usable clips - John keeps saying that photography would have been much easier! I was glad of that bench after we had climbed the hill twice, carrying our little dog much of the way!
I presumed it was you on the bench but I couldn’t spot yr dog. Somebody was very thoughtful to have put the bench there after a strenuous climb! Thanks for replying!
Another lovely video. Just a small corner of Sussex, but it has so much to offer, especially to the discerning eye such as yours. Good to see that the mill is still in good order, although it looks somewhat naked without the sails. It's a great tribute to medieval builders that places such as Boxgrove Priory still remain (in part) despite the best efforts of Henry VIII to destroy them, and they do so without dropping bits of masonry onto visitors. It's surprising that so many of them are actually accessible for people to wander around and wonder at their original grandeur in these days of ultra safety-consciousness.. Thank you for the full account of the walk in the video description, which adds a lot to the pleasure of viewing.
Thank you, Jim, for your kind comments. We are struggling a little to find new/interesting locations without going too far afield. We are aware that our videos have limited appeal; they tend to be for people, such as yourself, who hold this part of West Sussex dear. Or they are viewed by the 'locals'. We have numerous discussions about whether we should narrate or 'entertain', but we feel both would detract from the fabulous scenery and wildlife. You are right about the builders and stonemasons of 1000 years ago; I can not envisage many if the houses and other buildings that are thrown up these days will still be standing in the year 3000AD! And, as you say, it is great to be able to get so close to view them, though we do find on our wanderings, sadly, derelict churches and other structures that are screened by 'temporary' metal fencing. The Blackfriars ruin in Arundel is an example of this. Thank you for watching, and we are pleased you enjoyed it.
@@walkingwithjohnanddiana I agree with Jim lovely video but do understand your point. i love them as they are my local area, but see others may not find them as interesting..I haen't looked through all back catalogues but Bignor Hill, Lee Farm, Muntham Court, Sullington and cafe, Gumber Farm are all local places which are lovely...
@@marcusrichards6588 Thank you for your comments, Marcus. As locals, or, as in Jim's case, ex-locals, we tend to appreciate, or have a slightly biased view, of our locality. This year, we have plans to go a little further afield, and hopefully we will pick places and find a variety of countryside and wildlife that will appeal to a wider audience. Thank for the list of locations, some of which feature in our earlier videos. These earlier videos were only HD quality, and content and technique was not so good either!
Another beautifully photographed walk which I knew quite well in my younger years. I have a photo of the sunken lane with the trees in full leaf meeting over the top. Breathtaking ! Thank you for doing the strenuous walk up to the Mill for me. It is quite a climb. In recent years the County Council have repaired and stabilised the structure of the Mill but not to the extent of fitting proper sails. Thank You again for the journey.
Thank you for your kind comments, Brian. That was a particularly tough day as the morning was very cold and frosty, we climbed the hill twice, and spent many hours filming! You are correct, the Halnaker tree tunnel is spectacular. It is a shame the sweeps (sails) are missing from the mill. I was going through my library of videos and stills the other day, and came across some clips from 2021. I wish I had thought to include a clip in this video showing the sweeps fitted! We are pleased you enjoyed watching.
Thank you for another beautiful walk.
You're welcome - we are pleased you enjoyed it.

She was on my lap! The bench is perfect for taking in the views towards Chichester.
