Thank you! I haven't walked the Stokes since moving to NZ 50 years ago, but visited the Black Rabbit "only" 20 years ago with friends during a visit to my Sussex origins. It's a beautiful area, and I still miss it.

Thank you for watching. It certainly is a special part of the country. Hopefully our video reminded you of how the walks used to be; it is likely this particular rural area has changed very little since you were here. Sadly, the same can not be said for the majority of the surrounding villages.

Eek I just commented but not shown up! I thought South Stoke was very small to have a sizeable church like that! And then North Stoke had 1 too( but did say not in regular use on the notice board) Beautiful area- have seen that pub in other videos. It is in such an idyllic position. I liked seeing the bee smothered in pollen!! Thanks.

The pub is in an idyllic location - would be great if they opened early enough for a coffee break!

loved it! Know the area and often do the 'round' but this was a whole new perspective. maybe you could go up towards Canada firs and do a round via the steep steps. your photography was amazing and very enjoyable, thank you

Thank you for watching and for your kind comments - we are pleased you enjoyed it. Are the "steep steps" the ones that lead up to Peppering? We walked them a month or so ago and they were almost impassable - we had to hack through the brambles and overgrowth! We concluded there was not enough of interest in the area to make a video.

@@walkingwithjohnanddiana yes those are the ones. I'm not suprised they are overgrown as its little used path understand about interest, was just thinking of a round!

Very enjoyable video. Loved the honey bee smothered in pollen. I thought South Stoke seemed so tiny to merit the sizeable church & then North Stoke too ( but it did say it was sort of redundant) I have seen that pub on another video(s)- looks idyllic where it is positioned. Thanks

@@dianarolph1770 Thank you for watching and your comments. As you say, the South Stoke church seems large for such a small hamlet, but historically the area was very important, especially in relation to nearby Arundel. We love the old churches - they tell a story more about our social history than religious history. We seem to have moved away (thankfully) from them being Victorian, austere places of worship to more social venues, with some doubling up as shops and even art galleries.

@@marcusrichards6588 We may revisit this and see what can be done - perhaps take longer route and avoid those steps. I think the obvious alternative will likely encounter cattle, which we do our very best to avoid!
