Awesome. What lens are you using to get that swirly bokeh?
Helios 44-2
Fantastic to hear the S9 won you over. It's my go-to camera, and I absolutely love it paired with my Sigma 24-70 Art II, which is a little bulky but they work great together. I am tempted by the Sigma 45mm....but, damn, £999 for an S9. I checked the website, and you are right. I paid full whack 😯
In APSC mode sensor this 45 how much mm is?
if it just had a low pass filter, faster sensor read out speeds and less lag on the HDMI it would be the best cam ever
Interesting video Ross. I'm a Micro Four thirds user. I bought an S9 with the Sigma 50mm f1.4 just to satisfy my full frame and bokeh wants. May I ask do you use the LUTs feature? It's one of the selling point of the S9.
I do - ua-cam.com/video/P3nKcnzqk9E/v-deo.htmlsi=_pfZuyN0ckSDTIZB
Unfortunately Amsterdam hates tourists nowadays and has become very expensive. Next time, try Rotterdam or my city Arnhem. You can still visit A'dam by train. Keep up the good work!🤘😎
how about moire/aliasing issue with this camera while taking video?
Daily astia is one of my favourite recipe, thanks!
Cotswold do grey imports. But yeah, great prices. They also do the Asia-only silver version.
Loved this video! Have you ever wished it had a hot shoe so you could use a flash with it?
Sigma 0 pop on that lens. Everything so flat.
Hi Ross! I found your channel after browsing your site, itself found via a forum that was listed in Fuji X Weekly's comments. I really enjoy your enthusiasm, writing and titling ('negs on toast' is really brilliant) and especially recipes; you brought me back to my first love, Pro Neg Hi, with Twenty Twenty. And because you're from Northern Ireland, our lighting conditions aren't too different as I'm in Bournemouth, so I can expect your recipes to work better for me than some made for California or Spain. I always felt that Pro Neg Hi was the nifty-fifty of Fuji's simulations. It just feels right. So before diving into your many recipes, I'll go back to that and stick with Twenty Twenty for a bit. I often wonder how to replicate some colours from the famous colour photographers I like, such as Saul Leiter, Alex Webb, Fred Herzog, Garry Winogrand, Joel Meyerowitz, etc. But there's one I keep going back wihout much success, Martin Parr's Last Resort. I'd love to know what kind of recipe you think would be close enough.
1:43 it's actually FIXED f8, that's the only aperture you can use. So it's manual focus, no lens cap, no filter threads and fixed aperture and fixed focal length, what a nightmare lens 😲😲
2:12 "All of these little things..." Some of them are pretty big things, no mechanical shutter together with no hot shoe are pretty big for photographers. Plus the fact it's not weather sealed makes me really unsure about buying it. I want a smaller camera so I don't have to carry my S5II everywhere but I don't think the S9 is the right one. If they make a S9II with mechanical shutter, hot shoe, weather sealing and a little grip I'll definitely buy it.
The MC on the Rokkor lenses stands for "meter coupled" they had different appearances over time. I don't remember what MD stands for, but they were introduced to have full functionality with the xd7/xd11 that had shutter speed priority mode. Your 135mm f2.8 lens is a late MC version and shows probably very little differences with the early md version except for extra adjustments for shutter speed (or program-) priority mode.
Nice pictures, especially the one you mentioned specifically with the cows and the mountains in the background.
Thanks 🎉
Some people say about not so good dynamic range?
The 58mm f1.4 should be used as a portrait lens
That's a very innovative way to present images from a lens test, well done!
Thanks!
Great video. I’m a beginner photographer and my primary usage is travel & portrait photograph. Would you recommend Canon R8 with 24-50mm lens or LUMIX S9 with 20-60Mm lens?
If you’re a beginner, maybe the Canon with the viewfinder.
Great video. I’m a beginner photographer and my primary usage is travel & portrait photograph. Would you recommend Canon R8 with 24-50mm lens or LUMIX S9 with 20-60Mm lens?
Have you tried the new 18-40 pancake?
it can be done on the xs10 model?
For sure!
it can be done on the xs10 model
Time to dust off my Rokkor lenses. I mostly used them for video but looking at your photographs really motivated me to go try them out on my Fujifilm cameras! Loved your video and the Nissan Micro shot, man
Thanks so much. Enjoy!!
I see dogs in the video, I have to give the video a thumbs up. Even if they’re random running in and out of the shot quick. I don’t make the rules.
Thanks! 😂
What about using the phantom luts with yours ?
its painful how fuji gatekeep film sims on the newer models, I'm still using XT30 and most of the new banger film recipe are based on nostalgic negative
Nice colors
Don't buy the... don't tell me what to do bro.
Great luts my friend, I'll give them a go sometime soon on my s5Ii 🤓 btw it would be amazing if we could build a community of people sharing their Panasonic Luts like the Fujifilm community does, imagine that
“Lumix daily” lol
Thanks so much!!
I bet peach fade would be good on my next adventure to Florida
Oh yeah? That’d be cool 🎉
@rossandhisjpegs yeah, getting a XT5 next week, going to FL next month. I'll let you know how it goes
@@macdeezy89That’s awesome. I’d love a wee X-T5. Enjoy!!
Excellent photography!
Awww thanks
Really helpful: thank you.
You’re welcome! 🎉
great video ross, with some really interesting recipes. well done, and thank you! will give them a go for sure.
Aww thanks so much! Enjoy :)
Agree the 45mm Sigma is perhaps my favorite lens on my S5. And it was used in mint condition for only $250. How does it perform in continuous auto focus?
Yeah it's great!
I find the motion quality in the S9 to have a very video feel to it. Wonder if it is the long gop codec. Colors are beautiful but just the motion is a bit of a let down.. still great for shooting home movies
Could it be the rolling shutter?
also, what's the easiest conversion lut for vlog in camera? is it Lumix's "likerec709"?
Good stuff!
Thanks 🙏
i am just absolutely in love with Rokkors really. you can get a nice set of primes for very little and... if you dont mind MF and you re okay with lens imperfections, man... those guys get you like 80-90% there. you can take the exact same photos with a 50mm rokkor than you can with lets say a super expensive sony 50mm gm lens. the rokkor wont limit your creativity. while also only costing like 30$ instead of thousands. the md 45mm f2 is a real sleeper and one of the real heroes in the rokkor like up tho i think. its overlooked, awesome, pancake small and just overall way more unique than you standard 28mm 35mm 50mm. its like almost a 50mm but much more flexible and usable in an everyday scenario in the same way people prefer 28mm over 35.
Great info, thanks for sharing!
Already when Fuji released their X-T2, with upgraded 4K capabilities, still on a sensor without high-pass filter, they fixed the moire issue (present by ALL previous models) by shooting the video footage in 5K and than internally downsampling it to 4K before the footage was written on the memory card. Why Panasonic didn't learn that from Fuji when they OBVIOUSLY learned so much other stuff, is anybody's guess. How to fix your problem? Shoot video on that camera with mist filter or with vintage lenses, maybe that could ease the problem a little bit...
Good info, thanks!
Love it mate, just started using my S9 here in coleraine. Like you I have always been a Fuji fanboy, but I am loving the LUTS.....
Class. Thanks so much 🎉 Enjoy the S9
Awesome video, and thank you for the LUTs!
More than welcome :)
appreciate you bro! what's the difference between the orginal cube files and the NLE.cube??
100% the same other than the name.
@rossandhisjpegs cool
Thanks for sharing the LUTs. I dunno why but everytime I add them through Lumix Lab app it always failed. It says that it is not supported.
Thanks for flagging, try them now and let me know if they’re working. On the website there are individual download buttons for each LUT or one download for all four in a zip.
@@rossandhisjpegs Now I can add them through Lumix Lab, however when I tried to transfer the LUT to camera, it always suddenly exit the Lumix Lab app.
Sorry that you've had issues. I've made a few adjustments to the file names, can you try them out now and see if that makes a difference? Thanks for sticking with me.
@@rossandhisjpegs They worked now! Thanks a lot for sharing.
I'm considering this or Sony a7cii. Trying to sort everything out. Killer feature are the LUTs. I like the ability to make my own and import them. Sony PP are ok, but nothing like this. Still, I do a lot of photography so I want a true hybrid.
Oh yeah? What about the S5II?
@@rossandhisjpegs Size and weight. I want a small setup so when I walk around Paris for 12 hours, I'm not dead carring a bunch of camera gear.
I’d love to see a side to side comparison!
Between…
@@rossandhisjpegs I ment the pocket cinema and the lumix s9. not sure If I wanted to comment under the video or a previous comment.
@@hollo0o583Oh yeah that would be sweet!!
Bro these need to be on LUMIX LAB! (My same setup S9 and S5iiX)
The perfect pair!
dude you’re an absolute legend for sharing these luts for free, thank you!!! excited to try these out with the s9
Aww not a bother. I want people to try them, use them and enjoy them. Shoot me a message if you do :)
Ross - great work here. These are fantastic LUTs. They are loading fine in any NLE but they are, as @lfcruzsierra said, not loading through the LUMIX Lab app. They are not 33-point 3DLUT-compatible cube files sadly. I was able to get them working by importing into DRS then "Generating LUT" then sending that 33-point 3DLUT-compat .cube to the camera. "This file format may not be supported. The supported file formats areas follows. - 33grid-3DLUT (.cube) - 3DLUT created in LUMIX Lab (.Zip)"
