I oc'd a x5670 to 4.20ghz and it and it was a gamechanger even with a 1050ti. One day I'll put my spare 1660ti in there along with a usb3 card. I now have three x58 builds and an 1156 build as I keep seeing complete builds at Goodwill for $15usd. Thinking of picking up a nice evga x58 board I saw for $20 with i7 960 and nice cooler. I think this era is just so nostalgic and it holds its price too. I cant stop buying em lmao
Hats off to you man! Great work! I have an M17 R4, with an i7 with 4 cores in it and an NVIDIA M680. The thing is 11 years old and never quits. I have been running Solid-works on it for many Years. Cheers! Great Video!
In my first ever built gaming pc where i picked parts(not prebuilt one) i had HD5770 w Athlon 64 x2 4200+ and it had better fps on 1280x1024....there must be some unseen bottleneck bc i'ts unbelievable that core 2 quad would perform similar or worse than athlon x2 4200+ in GTA IV...before that i had single core 3500+ san diego core, and after upgrade to 4200+ the game was in 50ish fps range....in gta IV this bench is definitelly not bottlenecked by cpu...i suspect is more of a sh***y old game optimization for newer gpus....also newer gpus are built different, and that may also be the point....HD5870/5970 can beat even 1060 in older games from my experience just bc of optimization
I was ballin with two gtx 670 sli and a 2500k
Heeeey, I've got a Nano in my secondary Rig. It's not a gaming PC, the card is just for video output on a PC that runs some laser engravers- overkill for the purpose but I already had the card so I am using it. I did test a few games on it and the card still does a pretty good job. I'd love to see HBM reintroduced, but it needs at least 8gb, but 12gb+ would be great. I'm imagining a 24gb HBM card- that could be a Monster, but it'd probably be very expensive. A Man can dream though! I doubt I'll ever get rid of this Card, it's a special Card that I have a sentimental attachment to and it's a bit of a collector GPU, they're getting hard to find, even on ebay there's never many for sale.
most reliable processor I have ever used, it's a workhorse of a CPU. used over a decade without any issues. now it works as my son's little gaming PC. since I switched to 12700k last year
Yeah I still use mine with a 1050ti. Its not amazing, but it runs games made before 2020 quite nicely.
should have also tested the worst cpu on AM4 the a6 9500
i did modding dell bios jumping from ati hd6600 too gtx 770
I never was able to keep this bad boi cool. I recall being gifted an h80i by one of my best friends and i could not get her past 4.7ghz sadly I was not an intelligent as i am with lowering voltages. I had to disable to boost to keep it from trying to go past 4.7 also as someone else mentioned indeed it was a great heater lol I still have my fx 9590 and its asrock motherboard and ram set, i have used it as a back up when my main pc had some issues with past motherboards.
Hey man thanks for the great video! Love the quality and the m15x. Because of this video I just bought myself one 🎉🎉 a Nebula red with box and all. Can I ask you a favor... I installed windows 10 and windows 11 on it and the trackbad performs very bad and slow, it has a polling rate of around 30hz. A) I downloaded all the driver versions I found from synaptics and zero luck still horribly slugish. B) I installed a usb probram to overclock usb devices but I think this trackpad is detected as a ps/2 mouse. I Would mega mega appreciate your Help ❤ Thank you!
I wonder how does it run in Linux nowadays. It translates everything to Vulkan, and from my experience, GCN GPUs (from HD7000 to Vega) really love Vulkan.
I had two GTX 580s in SLI in 2011. I felt like a king!
Still running some FX processors at home - they're still slugging on and can handle modern stuff fairly well in most cases
I had an FX 8350 for a short while as I didnt want to upgrade my whole PC and my old Phenom II x6 1090T lacked newer SSE instructions needed to run some newer games the FX 8350 came in clutch even if it was more of a side grade over my older Phenom II
Hello for having better usage on gpu on witcher 3 try nvidia driver 368. or older to give you at least better 3 way Sli usage.
I payd 40€ few months ago.... Great card. I also owned this card long time ago.. payd 399€ new
I upgraded my i-5 750 to the i7-870 two years ago in my Dell XPS 8000. It's paired with 16GB 1333 RAM and a GTX 1060 6GB that I use for gaming. Does a fantastic job for the games I play.
I still have A9-9410, by now only thing it can do is web browsing & office, even older games are unplayable now because of updates.
got this one in a used PC i bought for 30$ last week. a320m AM4 board, 16gb ddr4 2666, this CPU, case, 550W PSU and the most obscure thing: a WD Velociraptor 10.000rpm hdd all in all, a steal. gonna put a ryzen 2600, ssd, and a cheap rx 570 in there and flip it. will keep the a12 as emergency CPU for upgrading bioses
bro has 500watt tdp highteer than 4090 tdp 450watt
I JUST built my newest system using Windows 10 enterprise LTSX IoT. Good to 2032, as I believe in less e-waste. I screwed up and got an ARC A750, which won't work with Gen3 I7 :( I do have my 8GB GDDR5 GTX 1070 Overclock Edition (runs with 1080Ti stock and 2050Ti in some areas) I'll get a 3060 for it when I can. The board (came with 3930 I7, Cooler master big boy cooler)($129), 3970X($32), $64.99 for 64GB quad channel Corsair Performance 1600MHz RAM. Cooler master tall boy heat pipe finned beautiful cooler, 1TB SATA 3.0 SSD, 2x 2TB Mechanicals for data. Also have a USB 3.0 Hot Swap packed with 2x 4GB. All mechanicals are WD Blue 7200RPM with 64MB Cache(pulling 120-150MBps all day and my SSD kicking 600-800MBps. Future proofed temper glass case, 850W Corsair bronze plus. I have it at 4.4GHz OC'd modestly. Runs no higher than 64C on stressing. This CPU is running with the mid-high end range. ASUS A79 Professional board full ATX. Amazing update from my still useful(for all non-gaming applications it feels just as fast as 8th Gen i5 - Dell with i7 920, 24GB triple channel memory, and 1050Ti - 4k60fps all day running 4 windows of it). For 1080P gaming I'll need a vid card for sure in my "new to me" I7 3970X with 64GB high performance RAM. Making up for the DDR3 to be as good as junk sticks of DDR4 I see sometimes. I have a synced 6X 120mm fan RGB kit too. So if I stumble on money, I'll get something like an I7 12th gen, good board, 128GB DDR5, and use my Intel A750 AI based card. The case, PSU, drives(well, may go 1TB M.2 with the new board later this year). Two generations behind and a monster for me. Heck, when I get a 3060 for this puppy, it'll run any modern games on decent setting for the 2-3 hours a year I play). If you have a 3970X system, buy the performance DDR3 Corsair (tall sticks-red color can't remember the name, but is 1600MHz. And NOBODY buy a new rig for Win11. 2021 Windows 10 LTSC IoT version (supported to 2032!). Screw e-waste when you don't need it. Got 15 years from the i7 920, and Mother will get that one to replace her 2nd Gen I3 4GB Dell. For the mere fact of MS trying to fill the world with e-waste is disgusting. Win11 is overrated and any good IT guy can stay safe without the secure boot/TPM 2.0. the A79 pro has a replaceable BIOS in case it is compromised anyway.
The back plate has that extra length because it came out of a pre-built (Dell, HP).
What thickness thermal pads did you end up using on this card?
I absolutely love the gace that you added the A12-9800
2025...
Bro can a ryzen 5 4500 compatible with x79 motherboard??
My newest build this year will be around a 3970X, as I'm always quite a few generations back. Upgrading from i7 920 from 2009. But, I rarely play games and just enjoy snappy computing and not spending much. With a tempered glass case and all RGB sync fans, 850W PSU, A750 Intel ARC, and 64GB Corsair,I have about $400~ in it all. Main board and cpu are second hand. Board came with a 3930, so $32 for a 3970X seemed like a nice deal with two more cores and better clocks.
I ran an FX-8350 from 2016 to 2022, paired with a GTX 960 4gb, and a 1600x900 monitor. At some point I upgraded from 8gb system ram to 16gb. I was pretty happy with that system, it never gave me any trouble and though I couldn't run newer titles at maxed out settings or anything, I could run them at a performance level I found acceptable. For what I paid for that system when I built it, I have *no* complaints about what I ultimately got out of it.
There is barely any difference between 7900x / 9900x / 10900x. Or any derivatives up to 7980xe and its 9th and 10th gen variants. That was the main issue with these editions, there was barely any upgrade. The difference between 7980XE and 10980XE is 10%, and don't forget, we skipped an entire generation (9980XE). I miss these though, as they indeed had a lot more PCIe lanes (48 / 44, respectively for the 7th and 10th gen).
The 900 series is quite neat in that it retains the original design of the 4G and has similar dimensions, while having a much larger screen and touchpad. The 900A also came with an Atom CPU instead of a Celeron.
That model 6990 is bad with the stock cooler a custom version would been better.
I have the same CPU and the same board. What BIOS settings do you have? Thanks
Dude I sold that exact MB And ram on ebay 1 year ago thats nuts
I am still using Core 2 Quad Q6600 with 8gb DDR3 and R7 350 GPU. Works flawlessly
This and the 701 were peak EEE PC. The Celeron processor was weak, but at least it was a real laptop CPU. Early Atoms which followed were even more underpowered, even if the rest of the hardware improved. I went from a 701 (Celeron 900 underclocked to 630Mhz) to a 901 (Atom N270) and the 700 honestly felt like it had more horsepower), can't really argue about the battery life on the 901 though, that was pretty amazing.
3:02 how come cpu tdp is 77w and at load it went up to 143w, please explain.
0:52 have doubt my motherboard supports only 65w, can I buy this cpu and limit it to 65w????? Help!!!!!
I first bought my old RX5600 XT in late 2020, to replace my GTX1060 3GB. Even got the ASUS model for lower price, since they sold the last low tier model before I got there. It had served me well in my past I5 8600K build for a couple of years, later going into my dad's 11600K PC, when I bought a Ryzen 7600X & RX6750 XT in xmas 2023. He plays helldivers 2 daily on medium settings w/ 90+fps. No hiccups, no stutters, and he's usually first guy loaded in missions. Think about how this GPU would still be competitive to this day, if AMD upped the stock VRAM to 8GB or more. Pretty impressive ngl.
great video! any chance you can do a 2025 update?
For some reason GTA 4 is not launching on my rockstar launcher when I downloaded it from steam. I have a 7950x3d and a 4080 super
I just bought my first Alienware laptop ever an m16r2 i do love how high quality it is but i did have massive windows problems that I'm not sure if its cause of dell or windows itself as my other windows laptops didn't have the same problems... I do wish Alienware still made designs like their older models
Overclocking record was made with an amd fx processor over 8ghz back then. I bought the fx6300 black edition around 2016 for a pc build. That build was the best pc I ever had. 2 earlier pcs were all Intel cpus and they were good but I think its really important to match components so no bottle necks occur. Oh, and I just overclocked the fx6300 from 3,5ghz to 4,2ghz and its even more responsive now working in certain cpu heavy apps. Ryzen is the future though.
Dell t7500
i7-3770 with a rtx3090 still rocking hard, parts came out a case i won 20+ years ago with counterstrike but through time the case didn't make it anymore, motherboard right now is being held up by little lego man on the desk. This thing has memories lol.
Weird my old FX-8370 ran (1866) 2133mhz O/C.
The thing with using an FX processor now is that, in theory, it'll perform better in newer games due to those games actually using all the cores, rather than 1-2 cores that games released in 2012 would have used.
nice motherboard & nice processor❤🎉
This particular pentium 4 651 Is one of the best for a Windows 98 or XP because of how cool it runs and the single thread performance
