I think the framerate issues had more to do with the overhead associated with translating Direct3D API calls to OpenGL. Valve used a translation layer when they ported their games to macOS afaik. It got worse with GTA as Rockstar simply used Cider to wrap their Windows releases into "native" Mac games.
I haven’t used this model but I have a 2009 Unibody 17 inch 1080p MacBook Pro with the 9600GT GPU use it with boot camp and Windows XP and it works great for older games. Thankfully the 9000 series didn’t have the issues the 8000 series GPUs did. Despite being 14 years old it looks better than most modern PC laptops and the 17 inch model has besides higher resolution also slimmer bezels compared to the 13 and 15 inch models. Along it feel more modern. The 2.8ghz C2D is plenty fast for XP era games. My 2012 MBP has an 8 threaded Ivy Bridge and a GTX 650M and I use Windows 7 but it could run 10 as well. Oblivion is a game that doesn’t run well on most retro systems such as my A64 retro PCs but the 2012 MacBook runs it att very high frame rate and thanks to it being the last model with a disc drive I can use my GOTY physical edition. I haven’t heard many people using Macs for retro windows gaming but they work great for it. Compared to a desktop PC they are much smaller and windows laptops of the era haven’t aged nearly as well.
i watched a few of your vidoes now and i think they are pretty good. your videos are well put together and interesting. theres just one thing that i cant get my head around. at first i thought the script was written by someone who has english as their second language even though you speak with a brittish accent. but then i saw you speak at the start of this video. it confused me. the script is missing a lot of connectives and a few prepositions. for example "storage was also already upgraded" instead of "THE storage was already upgraded" -03:00 and "with default potential now unlocked" instead of "with THE default potential now unlocked" - 06:54 in another video you refered to "Shadow of the tomb raider" as "Shadow of tomb raider" almost like you hate the word "THE" i might be nit picking a little. but using correct english does help a lot with the flow videos. its just really confusing to me as you sound like a native speaker. i dont want to diss on your videos i think they are very well put together with good use of b-roll, graphs and demonstrations and the script is good. its just how the script is read that confuses me. i think this channel has a lot of potential if you address this small issue. keep up the good work and good luck in the future mate.

Sound can be fixed by putting Windows into test Mode and make Your own ACPI driver in Windows. There is a good Guide on the Internet
