In elementary school in the early 2000’s my school shared a site on “Bonsai Kittens” to teach us that you can’t believe everything you see on the internet. It walked you through putting kittens in jars or other vessels and leaving them there until they took on that shape like you can shape a bonsai tree. It contained real pictures of kittens in jars and It was so horrifying that my 7-9 year old self as well as others in the class started crying and had to leave the room.

That was another one of these sites. idk,i think it's valid that most of these sites shouldn't be have been operating the way that they were and are still (they're actually quite a few that still exist and they seem to be much worse than rotten and the ones mentioned in your video), But when it comes to things like protests, and political stuff, things like propaganda, the war... we need _somewhere_ That has less censorship. One example that I can make is during the Black lives matter protests, There was so many videos being posted to LiveLeak, showing police brutality. it was really important. If we don't have that, people find it harder to believe or even understand what is going on

hahaha. i had no idea who creepy chan was; i clicked out of curiosity. BUT I did see that season of America's next top model, I was separating from my ex and living with my mom and she watched all these 'reality' type shows. She had a unique look and easy going personality, we were among those rooting for her.

I think the first time I saw her was in a Know Your Meme video way back in the early years of UA-cam. She wasn't really the center piece of the video if I recall correctly (it was about someone or something else; during a segment that revisited internet memes and the like in 2007), but someone in the comments identified her picture (where she's leaning over near a candle). Her pictures were weird. Not too much later, KYM did make a video about her. It seemed so weird that someone with that kind of fame got on the show, or at least that's what I thought at the time.

It's still kind of weird to me for someone to mention "grew up on the internet" (generally meaning the Web). See, I got my first ISP account in about 1990, and had been using the internet for years to communicate and even used it for work years before the web browser was ever even developed. No idea where the time went, other than a flurry of decades of work - mostly in the software industry... but I still _I feel_ in my head about 19 years old. Interestingly, my nearly 90 year old mother feels the same way. When did we get "old"?!?
