Belgium
Приєднався 21 лис 2021
Hi and welcome to my channel!
I'm Amy and I give old furniture a second life.
Living in Belgium, I find these beautiful pieces from second hand shops, facebook marketplace or from family and friends. Each transformation brings me a sense of calmness and joy and I strive to convey that very feeling through my videos.
I recently quit my 9-5 to be able to restore furniture full-time. By subscribing, liking, and commenting, you would be supporting me in that dream.
I hope you enjoy watching my video's and that they bring you a sense of calm, just as they do for me.
Thanks for being a part of this journey.

Trippy! I haven’t seen anyone get this creative with an old piece of furniture in a long time. The design took me back to all the 70s sci-fi I read growing up. We thought that’s what the future of design would look like! Great job.
I have a teak table that looks exactly like this one did. You have shown me what it can look like. It’s 20 years old.
Thank you so much! 😊 I’m so glad this project inspired you, it’s amazing what a bit of restoration can do to bring new life to a piece. Your teak table has so much potential, and I’m sure it will look incredible after a makeover! Good luck with it!
I found this video interesting. I’ve never seen anyone make dollhouse furniture. You definitely have to be creative.
Thank you so much! 😊
I like it!
Thanks!
Some people would think you’re crazy. I understand that what looks like a lot of tedious work is relaxing when you enjoy working with your hands and seeing the beautiful finished product. I love working in my yard, flower beds and garden. My neighbors think I’m crazy but it makes me happy and relaxed. It is a lot of tedious work weeding and dead heading and constantly watering in the summer but I absolutely enjoy it. I enjoy getting up all the leaves that fall. I keep my house pretty clean but it’s not something that relaxes me. I’d rather be outside!
Thank you so much for sharing that! 😊 I completely understand where you're coming from, there’s something so rewarding about doing what you love, even if others might think it's a bit crazy. It sounds like your yard and garden are your happy place, just like furniture restoration is for me. It’s not just about the work; it’s about the joy and relaxation it brings. Keep doing what makes you happy, I love your passion for the outdoors!
First, not the original handles. Did you test for lead? You're a gifted videographer. Very nice visuals. I like the way it turned out. Lots of detail that, I'm sure, took a LOT of time, but it was worth it. Bravo!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment and kind words! 😊 You’re absolutely right, the handles are not original, but I felt they added a nice touch to the final look. I didn’t test this piece for lead, but I always take precautions when working with older finishes. I’m so glad you enjoyed the visuals, it means a lot to hear that you appreciated the details and the time it took to bring it all together. Thank you again for watching and for your encouragement!
I love what you have done to the buffet 😊. I wasn’t so sure how the gold was going to turn out, but it looks great. I would definitely call this a creative piece for sure 😊😊
Thank you so much! 😊 I am really glad you love how it turned out. The gold was definitely a bit of a gamble, but I am thrilled to hear you think it works. I appreciate your kind words about the creativity behind it. Thanks for watching!
I don't mind the design overal.. you did the best you could with the condition of the wood. But why wouldn't you paint the bottom of the cabinet inside. Also, why not paint the handles instead of silver on gold. Strange color choices.
Thank you for your honest feedback, I really appreciate it. The inside bottom was left unpainted to preserve some of the original character of the piece, but I see how painting it could have tied everything together better. As for the handles, I wanted to try something different with the silver and gold for contrast, but I totally get that it might not be everyone's taste. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 😊
Restorative Creative Artful Restoration…I hope you signed and dated the back somewhere …
No I didn't! But maybe I should start doing that! Great idea :)
More Patience than I would ever have … very cool idea
Thanks :)
Wow, wow and wow! Awesome job!
Thanks, thanks and thanks! 🤩
Appreciate all the work you put into restoring the wood. Love the gold leaf and lines. A nod to what it looked like originally. Perfect.
Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 I’m so glad you appreciated the restoration and the gold leaf details. It was definitely a nod to its original charm while adding a fresh touch. Your support means a lot!
Nice work turning a utilitarian piece into a statement! I would ha e never thought of using different stains to tie the defects together. Very creative. May I offer a suggestion? That mold has penetrated the plywood. It may appear dead on the surface but will resurface with time and humidity. If the bottom can't be rep!aced, seal both surfaces with shellac then paint the three cabinet bottoms so they match.
Thank you so much for the kind words and thoughtful feedback! 😊 I’m really glad you noticed the creative approach with the stains, it was a fun challenge to turn the flaws into features. I truly appreciate your suggestion about the mold and sealing with shellac! I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future projects. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
I do love it when the restorer adds stripes of color! (Just a personal thing I appreciate). Wondering why you didn’t replace the board with the mold? Would it have been difficult to do that?
Thank you so much! 😊 I’m so glad you love the stripes of color! As for the board with the mold, replacing it would have meant removing the whole underside of the buffet and taking it completely apart... Sometimes it’s a balance between restoration and replacement, but I really appreciate the question and your curiosity!
Very impressive and exceedingly creative,!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words! 😊 I’m thrilled you found it impressive and creative, that truly means a lot to me. Your support keeps me inspired to keep creating!
Fantastic design. I love the painted lines and gold.
Thank you so much 😊
Wow. I think the kinsugi idea is brilliant. And I love the gold!
Thanks! 😍
I think you did a fantastic job. Keep it up!
Thanks you ☺️ I’ll do my best to keep it up!
Well done. Did you check this piece for lead paint?
Thank you! 😊 I didn’t check this piece for lead paint, but I always take precautions when sanding or stripping older furniture, like using protective gear and working in a well-ventilated area. It’s definitely something to keep in mind for future projects-thanks for the reminder!
Hmmmm. Not sure if I'm a fan of it. Not my style, but definitely unique and makes a very nice statement. Nice use of color's. Well done!
Thank you ☺️
Sieht blöde aus .
Excellent job restoring this piece.
thank you :)
I LOVE the lines. The gold leaf not so much. But the lines are amazing!!!
Thanks! 😊 Yes the opinions are divided on the gold!
Did you test for leaded paint?
No… but I really have to!! I just wasn’t expecting this, but I will buy a lead test for my next projects.
This is wicked creative! Fantastic job! You must have the patience of a saint.
Thank you 🥹 Not going to lie, my patience was tested on this project 😂 but I’ve been drawing and painting since I was a kid, so I guess that’s where the patience comes from ☺️
Not sure. It’s kinda weird looking.
Thank you ☺️
Hi Did check for lead
No I didn’t… but I really should have! Don’t be like me, I will next time tho! Thanks for reminding me I need to buy a lead test!
Попробуйте пятна убирать щавеливой кислотой.
When you remove doors with long hinges and lots of screws, its easier to handle the door if you start at the bottom and work your way up. Gravity will be in your favor this way.
Very true!
you;'re awful gutsy using that gorgeous sink to clean up that hardware. I baby my 1940's sink like no other. lol
Haha, I totally get it! 😊 I had the same thought while cleaning up the hardware! Your 1940's sink sounds amazing; there's nothing like those vintage pieces with real character. Thanks for watching!
I think it is worth it. I say, do it. Oh, I adore Snickers. 🐶❤
Thank you 😊❤️
Y esto que es ?? La parida del momento??
I have never seen anyone use packing tape versus painter's tape... interesting
Aah you are the first one to notice! I was waiting for somebody to comment on that as it is unusual. I started using painters tape but I couldn't see if my stain was bleeding underneath the tape or not. And with the clear packing tape I had more control to keep the lines scrip. But probably that's just my personal preference!
Makes perfect sense TBH.
@ I know right! Maybe somebody should invent transparent painters tape 🤷🏼♀️
I like it
Thank you :)
New subscriber! This is definitely a restoration, and a great labor of love. I would recommend getting a wire wheel instead of soaking hardware and risking staining that beautiful sink with rust! :o) Keep up the good work!
Welcome to the channel! Happy to have you here! That's a great tip! I do need to find a better way to clean my hardware then my kitchen sink... Thanks for the tip :)
So creative!
Thank you!
Работа большая. Но, к сожалению, сусальное золото положено не очень аккуратно, что немного портит впечатление.
I love segmented drawers. So handy!
Me too! I wish I saw more of them in vintage furniture, it's such a rare find.
I think I'd of left the natural wood and just put a wax to protect it sorry didn't like the design
Hi no worries, everybody likes different things :) Thanks for watching!
Schrecklich. Fürchterlich. So tolle Arbeit und dann dieses Design 😢
Ich war leider auch erschüttert . Sehr bedauerlich . .
The only other thing that you could have done was to cover the whole thing in veneer, but I don't know that would have come out better than what you did. I think that it turned out great, congratulations !! 👍👍👍👍
Ooh thank you so much 😊
Oxalic acid can bleach the mold stain out.
thanks for the tip!
Totally amazing! Your hard work paid off. Love it.❤
Thank you 😊
It looks great and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!! I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thaanks 👍🏻
Я бы вырезала рисунок в дереве, а абстракцию не люблю
Did good
Thanks!
Hi Amy like your video. But would be nice if u talked
Hi christine! I prefer watching videos myself where people don’t talk or at least not alot! So I guess it’s just a personal preference ☺️
creative re-interpretation. I love it. What's happening to it now?
Thanks!! Now it's going to live a long and happy life in a wonderful new home 😊
❤ your filming and your solution to cabinet flaws
Oooh thank you so much 🥰
Just found your channel, boy that was a lot of paint. Could you have gently sandblasted or to hard on it 😊
Pfew yes that was a lot of work! Well, I don’t have any good experiences with sand blasting, either the machines are crazy expensive or they are cheap but perform very poorly.. do you have any experience with it? And any good recommendations for a sandblaster?
I'm sorry, but I only know what I've seen here: people doing stairs, door frames, etc.
