Should I Buy? 2023 Volvo XC60 // One Major Flaw
The 2023 Volvo XC60 Ultimate is a phenomenal luxury crossover. The seats are tremendously comfortable, the ride is good, and the materials are top notch. Unfortunately, the general awesomeness is seriously hampered by Volvo's frustrating infotainment. Which compact luxury crossover would you buy? Would it be the XC60?

    I love my B8 S4 so much, picked up a few months ago. I owned a Supercharged Mini Cooper, but with a new Baby wanted 4 doors and comfort. At the same time I could not own a car without the Supercharger noise anymore, it's just an addicting noise. So I finally found my 'Attainable' dream car. :)

      What makes you think that? The owner of this car has never wanted a 911…enjoys them as a car enthusiast but prefers the superior dynamics of the mid-engine Cayman/Boxster. The bearded guy in the video (the writer of this comment) has always wanted a 911 because I grew up with a fondness for it. Would love to have you elaborate more on this opinion of yours lol

      It’s just easy to disprove that (btw I enjoy the back and forth, no animosity on my end!). You may think that, but just because YOU give the 911 this elevated status doesn’t mean other people idolize it (this coming from a guy who adores the 911). My friend has never sent me a listing for a 911 he wants besides the GT3 or GT3RS. He wants something to track with mid-engine dynamics and the only 911 based cars he likes are the GT ones. He’s a Cayman guy through and through. I am one of the people you described. I would buy a Boxster because it’s all I can afford and I would secretly want a 911, but that is objectively not true of everyone. Saying it’s true doesn’t make it so-nor does being alive a long time. Actually you being older makes it more likely you’d not like the Cayman/Boxster-my generation grew up with them so we like them just as much. Irrespective of your opinion-we can agree that Porsche makes fantastic cars.

    Bought a 2011 6spd model brand new and still have it. Has Stage II APR, Eurocode Sway Bars, billet aluminum steering stabilizer, strut bar, and factory sport diff. It is fast and handles way better than it should. I love it and intend to part with it never. This was the last of the breed. Is it a proper "sports car"? By definition, me thinks not, but it gives up very little in return for more seats, a decent trunk, and fantastic AWD.

    The body roll in the corner is pretty bad, it’s ok for around City, pick up kids, shopping groceries, but if you driving out of the town it’s crap, massive body rolls, stupid slow response steering, and no changes with firm steering turn on. The gear shift is pretty wired, it’s not like slow, it just feels weird, feels like it’s trying way too hard to squeeze the power out of engine.

    FYI, manuals don't have "transmissions," they have transaxles but ok

    • @aveautomotive2441
      @aveautomotive2441 Місяць тому

      To my understanding a transaxle has nothing to do with transmission type (I.e whether it’s auto or manual, but I could be wrong). Many automatic cars technically have a transaxle, like the automatic version of the Accord featured in the video. A transaxle is different from a transmission because a transmission doesn’t also have to do the job of a differential in addition to transmitting engine power to the wheels through a driveshaft. It would, from my cursory research, be more accurate to say “FWD cars don’t have transmissions”. The CV shafts are connected directly to the “transaxle” in FWD cars which is what technically makes it a transaxle. That said, it’s mostly semantics because people know what I mean when I say transmission, but I appreciate you pointing out that rather interesting technicality. Cheers man!

The cats especially are an issue with heat breaking them apart and blowing out the back. Buy as new as you can, and have at least a few thousand put away in a repair fund. The car itself was wonderful to drive. Passing was never an issue, and tunnels are an experience with an open box intake.

    I had a 2002 ZX5 from 2002 to 2016. Put about 140,000 miles on it. Most trouble free car I've ever had. Still wonder why they used a plastic thermostat housing that would eventually crack internally and leak coolant. At least a replacement thermostat and housing only cost around $35 from Amazon and was easy to change. Front brake pads and rotors changed two or three times. Still had the original rear brake shoes when I traded it in! I remember someone said the rear wheels were only there to keep the rear end from dragging on the ground. Sounds about right.

For a little sacrifice on fuel economy you get much better power that to me equates to a more fun-to-drive car. Hey I been thinking to sell my 07 Tundra Truck, to get a S4 o S5 to enjoy the drive. Do you think can be a good idea to sell a reliable truck to get a unreliable car, why unreliable ? coz always is same problem (timing) Any idea/opinion thanks

    • @aveautomotive2441
      @aveautomotive2441 2 місяці тому

      Well the B8/B8.5 S4 has some issues, but it’s generally pretty reliable. The S5 got the same 3.0-liter supercharged V6 for the 2013 model year, so those will be similarly reliable to the S4 assuming you get the stick. It’s the B7 S4 and B8 S5 (2008-2012) that have the 4.2-liter V8 that are known for timing chain problems…more so the B7 S4. Ultimately, it depends on what you want to spend on maintenance. Regardless of which engine you have on your Tundra, the S4/S5 will be more to maintain. That said, you’ll be saving on gas and consumables should be cheaper. If I had the money, I’d 100% buy an S4/S5 from 2013 and up, but I can really only afford my Honda at the moment. I’d say go for it as long as you’re comfortable with what you’re getting into!

    I used to have a 2005 Ford Focus ZX5 SES trim level in light green. I was in a bad car accident in early March 2012. I do have a neighbor that has a 2001 Ford Focus SE in a sedan. I liked to drive her car for nostalgia feeling in driving it. Now I drive a 2020 Ford Escape SE in BLACK!! I do missed that Focus. My Focus was automatic. It was my 2nd car. It was easy from driving a 1998 Ford Contour to a 2005 Ford Focus. It was my favorite car to drive around in.

    I just bought a 05 4 cyl coupe ex with a manual transmission, has 170 miles but super clean. Sounds like I made a good decision. Thanks for the information!

    I have the 2003 accord coupe v6 got it in 2018 with only 41,500 km. Old man owned. Long story short the transmission went out cost me almost as much as I paid for the entire car to rebuild it with a sonnex update kit. Been driving it each day since up to 89,000 km now. Otherwise great car but due to the inherent transmission issue please stay clear of 2003 v6 unless you enjoy spending 3800 for a rebuild and finding a trustworthy rebuilder is a challenge. I seen my tear down and my sonnex rebuild kit and other parts that went in. A 13 hour job with the tear down of the car and transmission and then rebuild and placing it all back together.

    Doin a Zetec swap after my second SPI does what the first did. I get more power, reliability-there’s room to modify and I can actually find repair videos being done to the Zetec engine. What’s to lose?

    'Very poor acceleration'... guys you have a 1000 lbs of people in the car.

      Like 750 lbs… I realize we aren’t petite but damn man lol. That said, we each tested the car solo and we still felt it had “very poor acceleration”. We do test stuff off camera too. Also, Magazines got anywhere from 7.2 to 8.3 seconds to 60 mph with the same 2.0L 245 HP Ecoboost. It’s a stout engine, but it didn’t feel very fast. If you feel differently, that’s cool! Fast is relative I suppose.

    Can confirm, mine broke at 198k. Piston rings gave from clogged cats. In the process of dropping a 96k mile engine in it in the next few weeks. Going with the whole overhaul. I do envy the stick ones mine is Auto. Can praise the how reliable they are, highly recommend they are super balanced platform and my favorite car to drive.

      what are the signs of clogged or failing cats? does the car have some sort of warning when they do fail so I can stop driving and look into the cats.
