- In this review we look at Nick's very own 2019 Golf R. The R is almost entirely stock with just an intake and a tune. Though there are a few things we wish we could change about the R, it's hard to deny-- it just may be one of the best all around hot hatches ever made.

Holy Cows! AVE has hit its stride! Awesome review and all hail to the production values and quality and useful commentary you delivered here. Spot on on the seats. Love the GTI also but the seats grip you more but in a harder unpleasant way. One reason we chose the GLI was for the more forgiving bolsters although they are probably harder. Love the question, ‘Does the car relax me’. That is the key to happy motoring. Sure, having your hair on fire is fun, but a lot of times we just want to motor along, pop the sunroof open, and enjoy the drive. VW does a great job of creating cars with these split personalities. Yes the GLI is far superior in the comfort department. It’s so funny because each version of that seat looks nearly identical, but the differences on a longer drive are super noticeable. Weirdly enough, the GLI and R are both more comfortable than a Navigator I’ve been driving recently! The whole split personality thing is why I think I’d like my next car to be something from VAG.

Great video guys. They're a great platform, got the Audi equivalent and they're defo fun. Little resonator delete and they sound great as well. Great potential for mods as well for more fun :D
Thanks!! Nick really likes it. He’s been thinking about doing an exhaust, but he also isn’t sure if he’s keeping it. The US just opened orders on the rs3 and that may be coming to the channel soon!
Love my golf r, so much modding can be done to it because it's so popular. Definitely a lot of them but if you modify the way you want and get a good tune on it, it can definitely be unique and very fast.
It’s crazy just how much a stage one tune gets you. The car as we drove it in the review has great speed. What year, color, and trans do you have?

Enjoyed your video folks! I also drive an 18 Golf R and loving every mile. With the APR S2 tune, DSG tune, APR Intercooler, turbo inlet pipe and turbo muffler delete, turbo spool is much faster and love how it sounds. Is the windshield cracked on your R?
