    I was able to buy one of the last Alltracks made(12/2019). I took delivery in January 2020 for about $31k. $5k off MSRP! It is a single year only top trim 2019 SEL 6MT Great Falls Green Metallic with the Marrakesh Brown interior. One of about 50 made for the U.S. It had many sunroof leaks from the factory, but they’re finally resolved. All covered under warranty with free rentals. I love it dearly, and wouldn’t trade it for anything other than another manual AWD wagon.

    In the last days of these in 2019 you could get a good deal. I think their rarity has jacked up their used car values. I always loved these things and thought the power of the 1.8 was pretty fun. Truly felt like a European car. The one thing that held us back from really pursuing one was the oddly short gearing on sixth gear. Just didn’t seem like a very relaxed cruiser at, I am guessing here, ~2500rpm rpm at 70 mph and I think overall fuel mileage suffered. Throw a mountain bike on top and you had the cool alternative to the hideous to drive Outback. A classy VW car prior to VW moving to its current generation of ‘meh’ interiors. Great vid as always.

      These seem like genuinely great cars and even good long term, but for the money I’d rather just have the sportwagen and get 85% of the way there. These interiors are really really great! We haven’t gotten a chance to spend time in a late model one, but might have found a 22’ GLI to review. You have one right?

      @@aveautomotive2441 well had one a 2020. We could not resist it’s crazy trade in value and we were able to find something new that was a smidge under MSRP. So drove the GLI for essentially free with no depreciation. Crazy. Looking forward to your GLI review. The interior is hit or miss depending on personal preference.

    Thanks for the great video. I bought a new 2019 SE in this same color for $25,000 on December 28, 2019. I love everything about the car, and the current market makes me feel even more fortunate to have found one at that price. I hope to drive it for many years to come!

      @@aveautomotive2441 Yes, I did. I think they needed to clear the lot at the end of the year, as they offered the few they has left at that price. It still feels brand new!

    I bought a 2019 one last year in 2022 here in Australia. Here it is called a 132TSI (for 132 kW). It had 31,000km on it and was in immaculate condition. And yes, I paid pretty much what the original owner would have paid for it new. This was down to a combination of lack of supply of new Golfs at the time and also that VW have discontinued the Alltrack in Australia, as they have in N America. The new Golf has no knobs, terrible responsiveness through the screen and no DSG here anymore. VW here say the all road market is covered by their SUV range, which are much more expensive and have those ridiculous fake exhaust things. So buying a near new Alltrack with knobs for the AC etc and real exhaust pipes seemed a very good idea and I am very glad I did. It drives like a dream, and I still have a 2011 118TSI wagon to compare it to, which has that hesitation from start and sometimes mis-selection of gears at low speed. The Alltrack does consume more fuel however in city driving, probably around 1.5 L/100km more.

    Your video is spot on about this car. I found this video AFTER I just bought a 2019 Alltrack S model for $25,500 with 30k miles last week. I know there were cheaper options out there but this car checked all the boxes. I came from a 2014 Jetta Sportwagen S so this was a nice upgrade.

    • @aveautomotive2441
      @aveautomotive2441  Рік тому

      That’s not a bad deal! Based on the prices we were seeing when we filmed this review, $25k for 30k miles is pretty reasonable. I feel like the Alltrack checks so many boxes…it’s got space, solid tech, a pretty stout powertrain, it’s good looking, economical, and it’s pretty fun to drive for what it is. It’s also pretty wild how much the Alltrack S gives you compared to the Jetta Sportwagen S…the Alltrack S trim is more like a Sportwagen SE, so definitely a nice upgrade. Hope you’re enjoying the crap out of it!

    I’m a VW fanatic and have been since I was a kid. Since then, I’ve been searching for the perfect VW combo that captures the essence of the brand, which I believe to be a fun, understated, luxury in hiding, economical, beautifully designed car. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to Europe over the years and always come back to the US feeling cheated out of the best of VW offers - latest edition of the Touareg as an example. I wanted the Alltrack when I heard about it back in 2015, but was distracted by a beautiful 2016 Touareg TDI Lux in reef blue, so that’s what I got. Fast forward to 2021, and I re-engaged the idea of an Alltrack because I felt it was the last best example of that ideal I mentioned above, but only if I could find an SEL in a manual. I found one on Vroom in red, like yours here, with a black leatherette interior, with only 6k miles. So I bit the bullet and shelled out the 36k asking price and it’s been mine since Feb 2022. A year later, and I’ve tuned it to up the HP to 240ish, added an aluminum trim strip to the rear tailgate, and a set of roof racks. I think it’s perfect for all the reasons you describe, and the manual tops it off to make it possibly the most unique vehicle on the road and perhaps the most European.

    • @aveautomotive2441

      Oh wow you found an red SEL in manual! Especially with the subtle modifications you’ve made that must be an incredible driving experience. I really would love to review another manual VW…preferable an Alltrack or a Sportwagen 2.5 with the 6-speed. They just seem like the perfect daily to me. I fully agree with your encapsulation of the best VW’s-they really are cleanly designed, fun, economical cars that have this “luxury in hiding” thing going for them. I love my girlfriend’s 2011 Jetta Sportwagen 2.5 SE in tempest blue. If it was a manual, it would be the perfect car for me. I also think that overpaying for a car you really want and plan to keep is usually worth it because resale isn’t a concern at that point. You just get to drive the best car for you. Hope your Alltrack is treating you well!

      I’m also a huge Vw fan boy. Own a 2003 Audi a4, 17 alltrack highline, (in Canada that’s an sel) and a 2018 Atlas r line. I actually traded in my 17 A4 for my alltrack. When you have 2 dogs, it just makes more sense for a wagon. Also I’m very outdoorsy, so the Alltrack hits more of the marks for light off-road abilities, great for a bike rack, I added a hitch to tow my atv. Does literally everything a crossover or small suv can do, but also handles the windy roads with ease with little to no heavy rollover feeling. IMO it’s the best all around car you can get. And it beats out it’s only competitor, Subaru, because it has a dsg vs CVT.

    I managed to get a new 2017 SEL for $27,500. I drove it for 2.5 years, got a great deal on Kia Stinger GT2 at the start of the pandemic , which I drove for 2 years and was able to sell it for what I paid for it in last year's insane used car market and just bought another 2017 Alltrack SE with the adaptive driving package last week. I picked it up for $18,500 with 78k miles on it.

      Oooo not bad! How is it being back in an Alltrack after owning a Stinger? I love the Stinger GT2-always wanted to try one out.

    • @FlowStateNewOrleans
      @FlowStateNewOrleans Рік тому +2

      @@aveautomotive2441 It's a lot different :) It's not bad, though. The Alltrack is well suited for where I live now (New Orleans) where the roads are about 100 times worse than where I lived last time I owned an Alltrack and where I bought my Stinger (Atlanta). My last Alltrack had an IS20, the APR tune for ECU and DSG, a bigger turbo inlet, intake, and some other parts that I started putting on it at about 5k miles. This one has none of that yet, but will within the next couple of years. You end up pretty fast in these with all the mods.

      After some research, we are both wrong. Nick and I thought it was an open diff and you thought it was an E-LSD. Turns out it’s a “brake actuated LSD” which is not all that different from what the Fiesta ST uses-though ford called it brake torque vectoring or something. Basically it’s an open diff, but the car can apply the brakes on individual wheels to help with traction and simulate some of the benefits you’d get with a proper LSD.
      Experts please feel free to correct, but I’m fairly confident that’s the long and short of it. Kinda neat!
