I absolutely think his salary floor is needed. Especially for the teams who benefit the most from the revenue sharing and luxury tax money that they receive. Teams like the pirates, the owner blatantly pockets all the money and spends absolutely no money on the team. The only business model he has is pocketing that money. That's his profits that he relies on for his own personal gain every year. That damages baseball as a whole. What if more teams start doing that? Why even try anymore? They should not be allowed to do that, and they need to spend some of that money to put a competitive team on the field. They owe it to the fans and they owe it to baseball. The pirates owner it's so blatant about his actions, that practicing that type of highway robbery is starting to be referred to as "Nutting"! After the pirates owners last name: Nutting, Lol. I'm not even joking about that. I've heard that in the sports media twice now.

You mentioned that it was cold and humid that night, which would have helped Nomo out by making the thin Denver air thicker. The cold would increase the density of the air, but moist air is actually less dense than dry air. H2O is lighter than N2 or O2, that's why it rises until it condenses in clouds. You can also see this in weather: high pressure systems mean dry air and sunny skies while low pressure systems mean clouds, rain and even storms. I suppose the best way to quantify whether the weather would be helpful or hurtful from a Coriolis effect or batted ball distance perspective is just to look at atmospheric pressure at the ballpark on the day relative to other days at Coors and other ballparks. Atmospheric pressure would be a direct measure of how hard the air pushes against the ball.

People I talk to seem to think yesteryear pitchers would get absolutely shellacked against today's ball players. And the great hitters back then would be very average at best today.

Growing up i was a huge Hideo Nomo fan. I loved the wind-up and watching him pitch. Forgotten name of the era.

saw him pitch against Bob Feller in the second game of a double header against the St. Louis Browns in St. Louis. Our seats were low about halfway between first base and the right field foul pole. At times his fast ball was so fast I didn't see it. His sayings are great. My favorite is "How old ould you be if you didn't know how old you are." (which has been quoted with three different last words: are, were, was.)

It is unfathomable to me how many pitching records this man would have broken, and probably still have today if he had been allowed to play in the majors in his prime against guys like Ruth, Gehrig, and later, DiMaggio.

How are you gonna adjust for pace of play as a DAWGINHIM variable when the pitch clock has effectively standardized hitters' paces moving forward? If I may make a suggestion: now that eye contact is officially the demarcation of when a hitter is "ready to hit", if we could somehow measure how quickly a hitter latches onto eye contact with the pitcher, then that should be the new metric. Nothing says "dawg in him" like staring a motherfucker down and daring him to throw a strike

Super underrated. Was only a 1 time all star but he had a long above average career and has the most Hrs by an asian player in the majors. Though that record will probably be surpassed by Ohtani sooner or later
